A moment after the old woman had revealed Leo's identity, the old man, Jason had seen standing next to Miranda earlier, appeared next to the old woman with a similarly angry expression.
However, his gaze was not focused on Jason, but it looked like he was eyeing Miranda, who bit her lower lip the moment she noticed her master's stare.
Through this, Jason realised that similar situations to this had already happened in the past.
As such, Jason wanted to clarify that he didn't have the intention to attack anyone.
Instead, he just wanted to free his hand from Leo's overbearing grasp.
Unfortunately, he couldn't even speak owing to the powerhouses suppression that weighed him down.
Furthermore, who would bother about his reasoning, if he had offended a Prince of an entire race?
Thus, he couldn't even rely on Jennifer, who was looking at him in confusion.
'Can't he even take care of himself for a few minutes?'
At the same time, she was intrigued about the weird pressure she had felt coming from Jason's direction the moment he had released his curses and the Abyssal effect, amplified with every possible means he had up his sleeves.
The Chaos attribute was something she hadn't sensed from him before.
Because of that she couldn't help but stare at Jason with even more interest than before.
Maintaining her cool was something she had learned early in her life. Even now, Jennifer was still learning more about certain situations in which she had to hold back, to refrain herself from doing something stupid.
In her past, she had witnessed how double-awakened Manyrs were executed because either the Aeus or the Devir race had labeled them as spies for the other side, even if they had no evidence.
There was one time, she had wanted to rescue those that were on the death list without any fault of theirs and just because someone said something wrong.
If something like this were to happen in Lanro, Luna would simply intervene, just as she did when Jennifer had almost been captured and killed by the guards of those who paid attention to the people on the death-list.
Unfortunately, Lanro, the Neutral city, was only one of a few cities in the large cluster of Aeus and Devir cities that did horrible things to the human children who awakened the wrong cultivation veins.
There were also human cities but they were in the minority. Some of them were even on the verge of being conquered, and there were only a few Cities that were able to protect every single citizen.
In the end, despite being a powerhouse, Luna had been appointed as the City Lord, owing to the consensus of the three races living within it.
Initially, she didn't want to accept this position, but despite the severe restrictions, Luna had realised that there were certain advantages of being a City Lord.
She was more than strong enough for this position and could protect everyone.
Furthermore, she gained more benefits as a City Lord than disadvantages, even if it constrained her from leaving Lanro for longer periods!
Otherwise, not only the Aeus and Devirs were likely to intervene in the governmental affairs in an attempt to decrease the Manyrs power and that of their arch-enemy, but another problem were the powerful beasts that roamed through the surrounding areas.
There were several things Jason didn't know yet, but the larger the territory of a beast, the more weaker beasts could live in that area.
With that in mind, beasts at the Specta stage would demand a tribute in form of precious treasures and cultivation resources from every beast that wanted to live longer in a specific area.
In exchange, they were allowed to reside in their territory, and use the natural resources.
In the end, Luna had her own plan for the future, and to make use of this, she had grabbed the opportunity to become City Lord, a long time ago.
With this, she had set off a plan that required lots of time, resources, and connections to the outside.
Jason didn't know all of that, and he couldn't care less about it as he looked at Leo.
If the young Aeus Prince wouldn't do anything, his situation would only turn for the worse, even if he would say nothing but the truth.
As such, Jason was already glad when Jennifer intervened as she calmly said.
"I think there was a misunderstanding. Why should someone try to attack another in the VVIP lounge of the auction house, with several Specta stage powerhouses right next to them?
It's not like Jason is suicidal, otherwise, he would have already died at the hands of my master…"
Initially, Jason was thankful for Jennifer's words, but the last few words made him furrow his eyebrows, not quite sure what she wanted to point out.
He couldn't imagine that she was teasing him in such a perilous situation, thus, he simply nodded his head.
This was only possible because he could finally move again after the pressure released by the Specta stage powerhouses had been retracted.
They recalled that Jason had been standing next to Jennifer for the entire time the auction was held.
Due to this, at least, they knew he was associated with the City Lord and her disciple in some way, and him fleeing while being surrounded by several Specta stage powerhouses could extinguish his life at any moment was nearly impossible.
After Jennifer had voiced her opinion, Miranda suddenly blurted out.
"He didn't want to attack Leo...It really is a misunderstanding!"
Miranda couldn't believe how the situation could have escalated to such an extent.
Initially, they had planned to simply test how strong Jason truly was and what kind of special traits, and attributes he had.
Unfortunately, it ended in a rather disastrous situation, and Miranda felt responsible for everything.
She wanted to test Jason's capabilities, increasing Leo's curiosity about Jason with certain hints such as saying that he had an artificial stigma.
Other than that, the fact that a male was next to Jennifer, and that they appeared to be close was something not even Miranda could understand.
Because Jennifer was a prodigy just like her, Miranda knew many rumors about her and her master, the City Lord of Lanro.
The City Lord was known for her misandry; hatred and contempt against men and she would prevent Jennifer from encountering any male with all her might.
As such, it was even more mysterious that Jason was allowed to stay close to her.
With these simple things, Miranda had manipulated Leo's interest in Jason, which made her propose the small trick they had implemented immediately.
In the end, Miranda didn't think that Jason would react the way he had, seemingly as if he would give his all to overpower Leo, even if it was only for a single second.
'Did he notice what we tried to do, or was he just following my advice? It cannot be the latter, right?'
Even if it was the latter, Miranda felt the most responsible for what had just happened.
Thus she quickly added.
"It was all my idea! I wanted to test his capabilities because I was interested in why he was so eager to purchase the Spiral Spirit egg.
Furthermore, I saw his artificial stigma, and that he was close to Jennifer, which shouldn't be easily possible as a man.
Thus, I convinced Leo to provoke him, forcing him to retaliate...I didn't expect it to escalate to such an extent…
How could I predict that he is so terrifying?!"
