Gu Chaoyan let out a sigh of relief and put away the needles.
She was not certain whether she was able to save him. She tried her best, but left the rest to the call of destiny. It seemed that the Dean fed him many of the pills she made, that was why he woke up earlier than she had anticipated.
“Young Duke, you are awake?” the Dean said excitedly.
The Dean was not keeping his voice down, so everyone outside heard the news.
Mrs. Duke North was the most excited one. She got rid of the hands that held her and rushed into the room. She saw her son opening his eyes, still pale in the face and looking quite feeble, but he was alive!
“Chen!” Mrs. Duke North shouted and took hold of Zheng Chenyi’s hands.
“Mom.” Zheng Chenyi answered feebly.
Gu Chaoyan had just put away the needles, but frowned slightly as she saw the scene. “Mrs. Duke North, Young Duke has just woken up and he is very weak, please let him rest now.”
The words had just been spoken when Mrs. Duke North let go of the hands. She did not dare to say anything more. “Chen, just take a break, okay!”
Gu Chaoyan was assured. She exchanged a look with Li Yuanxiang and asked her to leave the room together.
Li Yuanxiang nodded and went out of the room with her. The Dean followed.
They had just walked out of the room, when Gu Chaoyan got surrounded by the imperial doctors, who kept asking her how she managed to bring him back to life.
The Dean stopped those men and said with a proud look on his face. “Don’t worry, you can ask her later. She is my student and she is not running away. She has not written the prescription for Young Duke, and we are out to do so. You can’t keep Young Duke waiting, can you?”
Hearing the Dean’s words the crowd disbanded.
Some were feeling quite annoyed – the imperial doctors used to be the Dean’s classmates but now the Dean already had such a great student to whom they had to turn to for help! So they just left directly.
The Dean touched his grey beard and said proudly, “Chaoyan, you are definitely boosting me up!”
Gu Chaoyan was feeling helpless, the Dean was just like a child! He was shedding tears a moment ago and now he was acting so proud!
However, she did not tell the Dean what she was thinking and answered, “Dean, I am writing the prescription now. Young Duke is still alive now, but the later treatment is also very important, otherwise he will never make it back to the battlefield again.”
Hearing what Gu Chaoyan said, the Dean’s expression sank. He nodded. “Go and write the prescription. I will make medicine for him these days. You have to help him recover fast and well!”
Gu Chaoyan nodded. She did not know why everyone was so concerned about the Young Duke, but she did not care. What she needed to do was to make him recover fast and well.
She already had an idea of what to prescribe when she was in the room. So she wrote down everything and gave it to The Dean who sat down to make it.
Chaoyan was about to go and drink some tea, when Lord Ling came towards her, showing her a smile. “Here you are, Lady Chaoyan.”
