Chapter 59: Scolded

Seeing Gu Chaoyan’s confused face, Madame Wang was worried that she would not pass the entry examination with nothing more than medical skills. So she consoled her. “Saint College only starts the recruitment in the fall every year. You still have a long time to prepare yourself for the examination. You can choose one of the following to learn, playing the zither, playing chess, writing calligraphy or painting. You have a high chance to enter the school with your medical skills, and we can give you some recommendations too.”
Although it was definitely going to be the Medical Department that Gu Chaoyan was going to attend, Saint College tended to have strict demands. The examination could expand to the test of more than medical skills. Zither, chess, calligraphy and painting would be included too.
That was what Madame Wang was mostly worried about, but she believed that Chaoyan could make it.
Gu Chaoyan let out a sigh of relief when she heard that the examination did not take place until autumn.
There were still some months left, which would be enough for her to get back the dowery.
She started to smile brightly.
In the remaining time of the banquet, Gu Chaoyan stood by Madame Wang’s side. The Gu Family had dispatched no one to get her. They just wished that she and Lord Huai could spend more time alone together.
During this period, no one from the Huo Family offended her either.
That was probably because of Lord Huai’s presence.
It was not until the time of return, when Madame Gu asked her maid Cai Ming to ask for Gu Chaoyan. Instead of asking her to join them, Cai Ming said with politeness, “Miss, we are running out of waggons. Madame Gu said that you can ride with Madame Wang instead.”
Hearing the words, Gu Chaoyan frowned.
Fury appeared between her eyebrows.
She came with the Gu Family’s waggons, so of course there was enough space.
The reason why Madam Gu did so was because she was forcing her to ride with the Wang Family. In this way, she would be able to show the outsiders that the Wang Family and the Gu Family were in a good relationship. Maybe Gu Zhenkang would have the possibility of being promoted.
She wanted so much to vent her anger, but she could not do that upon a maid.
Cai Ming was nervous too. She did not want to have the same experience as Cai Zhu.
Cai Ming was just about to kneel down for forgiveness, when Madame Wang came to them. She heard what Cai Ming said, because she was standing not far away and Cai Ming talked with a loud voice. The maid must have been worried that Gu Chaoyan would insist on riding with her own family.
“Got it, just go back to your master. Chaoyan is riding with us today.” Madame Wang said.
Cai Ming hurried off when she heard the reply.
Gu Chaoyan said with a guilty voice as she looked at Madame Wang. “I am sorry.”
“It is okay.” Madame Wang waved the words off.
Gu Chaoyan had wanted to say something before she decided to give up.
She bore the favor in mind. She was going to repay the favor in the future.
To save Gu Chaoyan’s face, Madame Wang rode all the way with her to the doorstep, but she did not walk inside.
Madame Gu found it a bit pitiful, but she could not find a word to scold Chaoyan.
Gu Zhenkang, however, could not resist the anger. He bellowed with an angry expression. “You hideous girl, you know nothing, do you? Madame Wang is at the doorstep and you don’t even invite her in! Pig head you have! So stupid! Is there anything you can do? I heard that you offended the Huo Family today too! They are not people to be offended, kneel down now!”
Gu Chaoyan threw a cold look at Gu Zhenkang.
It was a look that almost creeped Gu Zhenkang out.
