He used to hate her Chapter 39

We three worked until we got time for lunch. The last time I ate in a cantine is when I'm in school.

" Are you coming?" I asked Henry whose eyes are fixed on the computer. Since It's the first day, I don't
have much work and neither do Sofia. I guess. I have to see how she's coping up with her first day next
to Veronica.

I went to see Sofia but her place is empty. And Veronica's seat is empty too. Where did she go? She
won't be careless at her first-day work. Finally, Henry and I went to eat in the canteen without Sofia.

" So, now it's lunchtime. Tell me about the days when Xander and Veronica are together," I asked
Henry as we seated somewhere alone.

" Do you really want to know that? "

" I just want to know about Xander's life before the accident. Is it wrong?"

" Nope. His life wasn't that great. I already told you that Veronica makes problems with everyone and if
she doesn't like anyone. She simply used Xander's power to get rid of that person,"

" Do you mean getting fired?"

" Exactly. She manipulates Xander into doing anything she wants. I don't want to judge anyone. But
sometimes I doubt whether she loves him or loves his power. Maybe the answer could be both." Henry
told the answer by himself.

" But there's one more thing. Xander has never been used to pick up Veronica to the office. They come
here at a different time and goes together. They try not to talk to each other in the company. He doesn't
like to show everyone that Veronica's her girlfriend in public."



" Oh, but Xander's not doing that to me. I came here with him and...he's a different person after the
accident..."

" He's better than before," Henry said and someone tapped my shoulder.

" Sofia? I was searching for you. Where have you been?"

" I'm here in this stupid company. I should be a waitress. That's how I supposed to be, right? I don't
have any other talents." She spoke so low of herself and sat next to me without ordering anything to
eat.

" What wrong, Sofia? You got all the talents. You passed the interview."

Does Veronica's a reason for her behaviour. I asked myself.

" I'm guessing Veronica played with your mind. I should be right." Henry muttered without looking at her
mad face.

" I'm afraid you are right. It would be far better if Veronica threw a cup of coffee on my suit in revenge.
Instead, she refuses to help me in clarifying any doubt and stopping the other workers who are about to
help me with this new job. She kept on talking something and made me think so low of myself. I feel
like she drained all the confidence in me. I don't know how she's capable of doing it. But I feel like I
don't deserve this job. I wish I could go back to the dinner," Sofia poured all her anger and feelings.

I'm not letting my friend hate this job. If she's back to be a waitress, I would go back too. Wherever we
work, I don't want to be away from her. She's been with me in the hardest time, I'm not letting her suffer
because of Veronica.

" Why are you even hearing and believing her words? She doesn't want us here. Are you willing to give
up this job just because of her?" I kind of scolded Sofia.



" I'm not sure of it. What if I'm not capable of having this job?"

" I know you more than anyone, Sofia. I know what you are capable of and what you are not? With
training from the right person, you will learn anything within a week. Tomorrow, Veronica won't be in our
department," I let the words out confidently. I won't be abusing Xander's power like Veronica did. But if
she's a threat to my friend and everyone, she needs to be transferred to any other department. At last,
I'm not cruel to make Xander kick her out of the company.

" You would really do it?" Sofia questioned.

" It should have been done a long time ago," Henry replied, looking carefree.

" Will Xander be free now? I know he won't get a lot of free time like us but..."

" Are you going to see him? Is it because of Veronica or you miss him already?" Henry asked while I'm
not sure of giving a single answer.

" Both could be right. Now, tell me the way to his office,"

Henry showed me the way and I'm on the 8th floor now. Should I knock? Will I disturb him? Or distract
him? I knocked on the door and I heard his voice saying 'come in,'. He doesn't know that it's me. I
opened the door to find him seated and giving some documents to a woman.

" I didn't expect your arrival, babe" There's a smile on his lips. I'm glad I wasn't a disturbance. But the
woman's listening to him is making me uncomfortable.

" Are you free? I will just take ten minutes," I said, hesitating whether to add Mr...nope, I can't talk like
that.

Xander ordered the woman to wait outside. " You called me babe in front of her. Who is she? What will
she think of me?" I asked him, leaning my hand on his table.



" It's not a big issue. She's my assistance. No one will think or gossip anything since I will be marrying
you soon," The last line rings in my head until I heard him talk.

" So, how's your first day? Do you like it here?" He asked while signing in some documents.

" I love it here but Sofia isn't. I wanna talk about that if you are free."

" You can but don't stand here." He replied, pointing his hands to a high back chair. I took the chair and
seated next to him, watching him signing the documents.

" I want to ask you one thing. I don't know how to start and where to finish," I couldn't come right to the
point. Asking him to transfer her to any other department doesn't feel right. But it's for Sofia. Apparently
for other coworkers too.

" You can always be free to me, babe. Say what you want." okay. Here goes nothing.

" Will you change Sofia to any other department? It's okay if she's still in this company."

" Is that all? I expected something big. But you are not the only one who asked this, babe."

" What? Who did requested you the same thing?"

" I don't have any direct conversation with other employees. But there's been a lot of complaint about
her given by most of the coworkers. Maybe, it's time for her to move to another department."

Now, I can be relaxed. But I can only hope that she shouldn't be a threat to the other department
employees.

" Is that why you came here? I thought you missed my presence."

" I did but you will be mad if I came here every hour of a day,"



" Then I will make you my assistant so you will be with me every hour," A smile formed on his
lips.
