I stayed in his room for the rest of the night, sleeping in the chair. I know Xander is being kind to me
because he doesn't remember anything. I promised him that I will do anything to bring his memories
back. What will happen if that happens?
I slept without a nightmare for the first time. Usually, my sister's death comes in my dreams. Today's
different from the other days. I looked at Xander who's sleeping peacefully without worries. I can't
believe that I'm going to spend the whole day with him.
Then I unlocked my phone and found three missed calls from Sofia. Oh, no. She must be here now. I
dialled her number quickly and left the room.
" Are you here, Sofia? I didn't saw your calls. I got a lot of things to explain. Where are you?"
" Whoa, slow down. I'm in the hospital. Tell me the room number. I will help you search job for you
today. Or we can apologize to the owner of the dinner and get your job back. I don't want us to have
two different jobs, Maddie." She told as she planned the whole day on how it should happen. It won't
happen the way she thought. She's gonna scold me for the decision I took.
Within minutes, she reached the room. " Hey, will you be mad if I tell you something? Something that
you don't want me to do." I began, nervously looking at Xander from the window.
" You aren't going to stay with Xander. Are you? I know he won't ask you for it. Plus, your work is done
here." She calmly said.
" That's the problem. Xander got no one to take care of him. His parents won't be back for a week. I
have to stay here." I simply said, forgetting the memory loss part.
" Xander's none of your business, Maddie. Why do you have to be there for him? A day before he
supported his girlfriend and you lost your job because of them. In fact, he has to pay you. He has to
help you get a job. I will tell him right away if you don't do. Is this his room? " Sofia yelled, ready to step
inside.
" Hey, stop it. You don't get it. He doesn't remember me. Or any of us. He lost his memory in the
accident. I'm not so cruel to leave him confused in this state." Especially I don't do this to Xander. He
means a lot to me even though he doesn't feel the same.
" Are you kidding me? He lost his memory. Does someone ever lose their memory in an accident? It
only happens in the movie. I don't trust him." She refused to believe and stood near the door.
" Why would someone act like they lost their memory? That doesn't make sense, Sofia. If he's acting,
he wouldn't want me here. He wants me here and I'm not leaving in this state." I firmly said.
" You are serious. I don't want you to do this, Maddie. You don't need to treat someone well when they
never did the same to you."
Xander wouldn't have hated me if it isn't for Veronica. It's not his fault in the first place.
" I know. But this isn't the time for it. I will be here for less than a week. I'm sure his parents will visit him
soon. Then, I won't stay a minute longer. Let me do this now."
" Okay, I'm still not fully convinced but it's your decision and I respect it. Take this money for this one
week. I will see you daily after work. Don't stay a second longer after his parent's arrival." She gave me
some dollar for daily requirements and went. I stood at the same place even after she left. I don't want
to upset her but I got left with no choice.
" Madison," I heard Xander's voice calling me. I never really remember him calling my name. I rushed
into the room the next second.
" I thought you left," he frowned, ran his hand over his hair above the head bandage.
" I won't leave without telling you, Xander,"
" Is that means you are still gonna leave?"
" No. I'm going to stay here until your parents are back. I hope you are okay with it."
" Yeah, and you have to tell me about my past as you promised."
" I will. Put this shirt on. I will get you something for breakfast." I said, without meeting his eyes.
" Can't I leave this room? I'm sick of this. I feel like I lived here all my life." He complained. But all I did
was laughed.
" What's funny about this? I don't want to stay here. I don't like to be a patient."
" It's not even a day since you came here. Plus, you travelled a lot. Lot more than you could imagine."
" Only in words. So, Where are you going to get breakfast? I will join you." He insisted again. These are
the words Xander never said to be. I don't know if an accident changes everything.
" I'm going to the first floor to buy it. The doctor told me that you should rest. Are you sure you want to
leave this room?"
" Yeah, my arms are broken, not my legs. I will come with you." He said, putting his shirt on and getting
off the bed. I don't know what the nurse or the doctor will say for letting him roaming in the hospital. But
it's hard to convince the stubborn Xander.
We both made our way to the first floor. Xander was looking everywhere like it's the first time he has
ever seen a hospital. Then, I went to order two sandwiches for us and took a seat next to him.
" Here's one for you. I hope this will be enough. So, what do you want to know about yourself?" I asked
him, taking a bite from the sandwich.
" Everything. Everything you know."
" Okay. Like you already know, your name is Xander. Xander Stevens. Your parents are millionaires.
You had a very good life. You travelled to many different countries for vacations and transferred to
different country schools. You only have one close friend who you trust blindly. He's Henry. The one
with whom I talked yesterday. You are sincere when it comes to any work. And you have never been
proud of being rich. And I..." And I loved you for it. Well, I couldn't say it.
" And I met you at a dinner where I used to work as a waitress."
" I'm started to like the life Xander had. But I still don't feel like it's me. It's like you are reciting the life of
someone life." He said, getting more worried when the more he hears about himself.
" You lived the life, Xander. There's more to it. If I know it all, I would tell you."
" I would like to hear it too. All I could feel is my life started the moment when I opened my eyes in the
hospital room and then you entered the room to see me. That's how I feel like it started, Madison." He
explained, looking at the sandwich without touching it.
It's hard to believe that he thinks that his life started with me entered the room to see him.
" Maybe, some photos might help you with remembering something. I will show you some of your
photos." I unlocked my phone and scrolled through my gallery.
"I don't think you and I are just waitress and customer. You know about me and you even have my
photos. Are we close? Do we know more about each other?" He questioned making me hesitate again.
