Manipulative and Scheming Man
Nicole and Clayton were dumbfounded.
Clayton’s face darkened.
He was annoyed and he looked away. ‘I shouldn’t be calculative with a kid…’
Clayton just squeezed Nicole’s palm to express his dissatisfaction.
Nicole laughed lightly. “Why would I break up with him?”
“This guy looks even weaker than before, as if he can just drop dead at any time. You should be with
someone a little healthier, that can live longer…”
The corner of Clayton’s eyes twitched. He was speechless.
Nicole let out a laugh. “Don’t worry. He’ll live long enough. He’s just not feeling well recently.”
Hayley nodded superficially and still had her doubts.
Soon after, Hayley smiled and spoke.
“Do you want me to be your guide? I’m very familiar with this place, so I know what’s nice here!”
Nicole was just about to refuse when Clayton, who was on the side, could not help but speak up.
“Sorry, I’m not feeling too well. I’m afraid that I can’t walk too far…”
Hayley did not conceal her disgusted gaze as she sized him up. ‘So what if he’s good-looking? He
looks like a sick chicken…?
Nicole quickly and nervously took his arm.
“You don’t feel well? Do you want to take a rest? Or do you want to go straight to the hospital?”
Clayton smiled and patted her hand. “I’m just a little tired. It doesn’t matter. Let’s go later?”
Of course, Nicole would not refuse.
Nicole turned around and said goodbye to Hayley. She then pulled Clayton into a cafe across the
street.
Hayley stood there with her arms folded. She shook her head.’ What a manipulative scheming man…
Hmph! I could see through it at a glance!’
In the cafe, Clayton sat there, looked out the window, and breathed a sigh of relief.
It was great to finally have some peace.
Nicole saw that Clayton’s face did not change and believed that he was just tired.
The waiter came over. “Excuse me, what would you like to order?”
Nicole looked at him. “Sparkling water for him and a mocha for me please.”
“Sure, please wait a moment.”
Nicole smiled and looked at him. “You don’t need to go to the hospital?”
Clayton raised his eyebrows. “No need. I’ll be fine soon.”
He saw that Hayley had left and went back to her group of classmates.
Nicole saw through Clayton’s thoughts and could not help but laugh a little.
“If you don’t want her to be our guide, just say so. I was going t o refuse anyway.”
Clayton paused. His warm face blushed a little.
“I just think that she’s too loud.”
The two of them finished their drinks and continued to walk. They looked around at the youthful smiles
and became more relaxed.
Nicole could not help but sigh. “It’s nice to be young!”
Clayton paused and looked at her with unblinking eyes.“ You’re perfect like this.”
Even if others were young, they were not Nicole.
The Nicole in front of him was unrivaled in the world.
Nicole smiled with curved eyes. Half of her body was lying on Clayton, but Clayton did not feel any
weight. He just felt like h e was dragging a small child along.
They were very happy.
When they were tired of walking, they took a break.
Nicole looked at the road in front and suddenly spoke.
“Angie’s out. She’ll be extradited to Southeast Asia.”
Clayton paused for a moment, pursed his lips, and said, “Do you hate her?”
Nicole shook her head. “It has nothing to do with her. In fact, when I was taken, Caleb took care of me.
At least, he didn’t really treat me as a hostage. It’s just that when he learned that the deal fell through,
he made a reasonable move.”
This reasonable move was to eliminate the hostage.
There was a moment of silence.
Those gloomy and boring days seemed to surface again.
Nicole spoke softly, “I didn’t know that some people are living such a horrible life. They don’t treat
people as human beings, and they’re extraordinarily desensitized to the misery of their companions. I
told you about those women before.”
