Chapter 84: What a King of Mercenaries
At the Yu Residences.
A group sat at the living area filled with a tense atmosphere.
“Father, the lad from the Zhang Family is right this time—we’re indeed in great trouble.” Father Yu looked sterner and spoke in an unprecedentedly solemn voice. “How could the Zhang Family possibly be linked to the potion maker? It wasn’t easy for us to successfully retreat to Green City from the International Association. If they were to still have a handle on us…”
The rest of the senior executives didn’t look good as well.
This incident was clearly of the Zhang Family going against the Yu Family—from the basic potions to their series of actions, it was obvious that the Zhang Family wanted to gobble the Yu Family up.
“The people of the Zhang Family obviously want us doomed…” Someone sighed. “If we’d known, we shouldn’t have listened to the Su Family. Initially, they were the Zhang Family’s only target. If we hadn’t participated…”
“Enough!” Grandpa Yu slammed the table, causing the teacup beside his hand to crash onto the ground. “The Su Family? All of you think that the Su Family alone can provoke a potion maker from the International Association? Or have all of you forgotten why we retreated to Green City previously?! This time, that potion maker is obviously coming at our Yu Family!”
After he said that, the faces of everyone who wanted to voice their agreements changed.
Some of their faces turned pale instantly as they slumped down on their chairs in despair. “This is… them coming?”
Old Mr. Yu didn’t answer, but obviously agreed in silence. He retrieved a piece of rosewood from his pocket.
This was given to him by Yu Xiangyang previously. It was a very vintage wooden block with elegant prints all over.
He stared at this wooden block. More accurately, he stared at the huge “S” letter on it.
After half a second, he finally spoke. “I’m heading out.”
Seeing him leave, Father Yu was slightly stunned. “Where are you going?”
“To the Su Family.” Old Mr. Yu waved his hand casually.
At the Su Family, Qu Yan was lying on Su Huiqing’s bed, looking all desolated.
Su Huiqing came out from the bathroom, hooked the bathrobe with her finger and covered herself with it.
Seeing Qu Yan looking like this once she came out, she leisurely retrieved a towel to dry her hair, her pitch-black eyes looking at Qu Yan calmly.
Qu Yan felt uneasy with her glance and got up from her bed after half a second. “Qingqing, why do you keep looking at me like this?”
Su Huiqing finished drying her hair, threw the towel onto the table, and retrieved a piece of pure white lounge-wear from the wardrobe. “Now you probably know what kind of place the International Association is?”
“Yup. That’s the real world.” Qu Yan became serious.
The more she knew about this place, the more she admired it.
“Wanna go to the International Association?” Su Huiqing held her clothes in one hand and rested the other on the sash of her bathrobe.
“Me?” Qu Yan was drinking water and almost spit it out upon hearing it. “It’s not like you don’t know I’m a parvenu—I can’t do it…”
She knew her abilities very well. Those who could enter the International Association…
were at least crazy talented.
“You should have known Gu Li previously, but he should have unilaterally broke off ties with your family.” Su Huiqing interrupted her right away as she glanced over at Qu Yan. “To have the people from Dark Angels to spend so much effort to track him down, I can’t say much about Gu Li’s future. However, I have to say that it’s quite scary. This was also why he stopped communicating with your family—he was afraid of implicating all of you. All in all, the three of us are all very complicated. With us, the future will all be tough…”
Qu Yan stiffened up slightly and looked up at Su Huiqing, stunned.
She was different from Gu Li and Yu Xiangyang.
Gu Li was a person with many secrets on his back—those burdens and those people mysteriously hunting him down… were why he had no choice but to work hard.
Yu Xiangyang seemed like a hot-tempered and unruly gangster.
However, after interacting with him, one would know that deep within him was a dream and persistence to return to the International Association and revive the Yu Family’s heydays.
However, she… Qu Yan.
Was a simple parvenu’s daughter.
She paled in comparison to the extraordinary Gu Li, Yu Xiangyang with a complex identity, as well as Su Huiqing.
In fact, there was no need for her to participate.
However, having been through everything with these three people, Qu Yan also experienced a kind of passion from deep within that she had never felt before.
She wouldn’t forget the kind of fear when the huge gang of people stood behind Teacher Wan.
She also wouldn’t forget how, even at the brink of death, the unwavering and silent trust in the four of them.
If Qu Yan had previously always been an ordinary person who got on with life, now she understood that in life, there ought to be that bit of pursuit, faith, and that courage to strive on for something or someone.
In life, there ought to be once she did something out of her mind without caring about the consequences.
Qu Yan had never wanted to walk on with her partners so much.
To not get left behind by them.
She looked at Su Huiqing, who got out after changing. She stood beside the table clad in white, retrieved a bottle of light purple-colored pills, and threw it at her. “Still remember our conversation previously? I don’t take people in easily…”
Su Huiqing saw that Qu Yan caught that bottle of pills before buttoning her shirt up. She sneered. “Since I’ve taken you guys in, if I don’t bring all of you to the International Association, what a king of mercenaries will I be?”
