The sedan stopped in the underground car park of a shopping complex, and Cordy was rendered
speechless.
She was being dragged out to shop while in her pajamas and barely any makeup… Patrick was really
ridiculous!
’Let’s go,” Patrick beckoned, even opening the door for her in true gentleman fashion.
Cordy refused-it was just so embarrassing!
“Come on,’ Patrick urged.
‘Do you think I’m going to humiliate myself like this?” she snapped.
“Trust me.”
Cordy gritted her teeth, but ultimately alighted.
She could afford to brace herself and trust him just this once.
Afterwards, they both entered the elevator.
Thankfully, it was unoccupied—or she wouldn’t know where to hide as they rode it up to the top floor.
Patrick was still strutting as he led Cordy out of the elevator, which left her in further confusion as to
what his plans were. “Look, Patrick, it’s my ex’s wedding-not yours! Shouldn’t I be the one feeling upset
about it?”
“That’s why I’m trying to cheer you up.”
Cordy rolled her eyes-he most definitely have a funny way to do it.
As Patrick dragged her along out of the elevator, she realized in surprise that there was no one else in
the entire shopping complex.
The staff were still around, but since their clientele were either the rich or the powerful, they naturally
had an eye for things. Thus, none of them were gawking at Cordy even though she was walking around
in her pajamas.
“Why isn’t there anyone here? Is it still too early?” she asked in surprise.
“I told your dear cousin to reserve the whole place for you,” Patrick admitted.
Cordy rolled her eyes. He could’ve said that earlier!
Patrick merely made an innocent face in reply, since she never asked.
He led her into a store for custom-made luxury items. ’Like you had put it, it’s your ex’s wedding. It’s
only natural you dress grandly and seize the occasion as the belle of the ball.’
Cordy was speechless, but she realized that he was moving heaven and earth this early in the morning
so as to prepare for her grand appearance at the wedding.
He was getting all excited about it, she almost thought he was proposing.
Well, guess she was worried over nothing.
A store assistant approached her eagerly. “Miss Sachs? This way, please.”
Cordy shot Patrick a look, but he said, “Go on, get changed. Make yourself look beautiful and seize the
day!”
She rolled her eyes.
The man was such a manchild, though she didn’t reject the gesture-being treated with such dedication
actually warmed the heart.
She hence put on the exquisite white evening gown prepared for her. It was encrusted with many
diamonds beneath the waist, making the white appear subtly dazzling yet undeniably grand.
She had to admit, Patrick had a good eye.
“You look wonderful in that dress, Miss Sachs!” The store assistant couldn’t help exclaiming with
earnest praise of Cordy’s beauty.
Patrick stepped out of his dressing room as well, this time clad in a tailor- made black tailcoat.
Cordy actually never saw him dressed that grandly-he was usually either wearing casuals or business
suits.
If she didn’t know any better, she would’ve wondered if he was going to steal a bride.
Patrick, however, didn’t seem to care much about himself.
He was staring fixedly at Cordy, his breath taken away by her marvelous beauty.
It was as if she embodied the word beauty at any and every time, and her mere presence could leave
all creation astounded.
And that beauty also seemed perpetual, leaving one and all amazed no matter how many times one
looked.
“You’re so beautiful,” Patrick suddenly said very solemnly, suddenly different from how he usually was.
Cordy blushed a little from being offered such abrupt, serious praise.
“Thanks,” she replied. “You look quite dashing yourself.”
