Chapter 122: God’s Hell (Part 1)

“What is this place?” Saleen could not recall a place similar to this scene in his memory. He felt a little lost.
“God’s hell.” Lex had tears in her eyes, and she wiped them away with her hand. Faerun had been one of her men, but he had also been her teacher. In their many years, Faerun had always taken good care of her. Knowing that Faerun was definitely going to die, she found it hard to believe.
A mage who had fought so hard to make it to the position of a sorcerer. It had not even been a year, and he had sacrificed his life this willingly.
“Viscountess…”
“Call me Lex… there is no viscountess here.”
Seeing that Saleen was a little lost, Lex said, “God’s hell is actually a desolate interdimensional space that surrounds the Myers Mainland. Without the protection of the god’s ring, the god’s punishment from earlier would have sent our corpses here to slowly decay.”
“Can we still go back?” Saleen asked with a sinking feeling.
“Theoretically, yes.”
Theoretically…
Saleen understood what Lex meant. Theoretically, he could use an ice blade to pierce an attack from a gold grand swordmaster. However, that would take at least eight to ten years of calculation, and he would need the cooperation of the swordmaster to do so.
“Viscountess!” The two swordmasters were more anxious than Saleen.
Lex waved her hand and said, “Don’t call me that. I am only a mage here.”
The two swordmasters hesitated before nodding in agreement.
As his eyes grew accustomed to the light in this area, Saleen dispersed his Fluorescence spell. The land here was flat and in his sight were a few purple plants. The air was a bit thin, but that was nothing to mages. Without any wind, everything was silent.
“This is pretty good. At least there are some living things here.” Saleen pointed at the sparse plants.
“I would rather there be nothing here,” Lex said. She was already holding up a magic shield. It was the fire ring of resistance, a low-grade magic. Even though it had been practiced by Lex to the highest grade, its red glow was unusually dim as it circled Lex’s body.
Saleen activated the invisible shield and magic skin on his magic robes at once. At the same time, he released two water shields which floated behind him.
The two swordmasters drew their Qin eight-sided swords, Sika took her cudgel from her back, and Nailisi hid behind Sika’s back.
A low humming noise came from afar and Lex provided the others with an additional invisible shield, releasing some illumination magic at the same time. Saleen took a quick look at where the noise was coming from and saw a dark cloud flying over, made up of numerous giant mosquitoes.
Saleen understood in an instant what Lex meant. In an interdimensional space where living things could not survive, they would not have met with such dangers. If living things could survive here, they would surely be some ferocious and evil things.
What god’s hell? It was merely using the power of god to banish people into the interdimensional space. If there were not any living things, they could still survive with the rations in their spatial equipment. As for now… they could only do their best!
Contrary to Saleen’s worries, these giant mosquitoes appeared ferocious, but some of them were afraid of light. Right as they approached them, many of them flew slower. After circling around them at a distance for a while, they could no longer resist the temptation of flesh any longer and pounced forward.
Saleen said in a low voice, “Sika, use your boomerang.” At the same time, an ice bomb appeared in his hands. This time, he threw the ice bomb directly into the crowd of mosquitoes. The air instantly turned cold and the mosquitoes rushed to hide. However, the ice bomb began to abruptly evaporate and expand.
Dozens of mosquitoes were hurt from the heat, but Saleen was not done. The giant ball of gas started burning, forming a giant fireball which was over thirty meters in diameter.
Boom…
The explosion caused a vibration that rocked the earth. The magic that Saleen had invented had cleared the entire area. Hundreds of mosquitoes had been burned to death, and those that had not died were severely injured.
The strength of this magic was not high, but it was enough for the giant mosquitoes which barely had any magic defense. Moreover, the vibrations that this magic created could cause a great deal of physical damages, and since the mosquitoes were not high-grade magic beasts, their limbs and wings were relatively weak and stood no chance against the destructiveness of Saleen’s magic.
Saleen was slightly relieved. The living things in this interdimensional space were almost the same as the ones on the Myers Mainland. They were large in number, but weak alone.
Sika’s boomerang drew a beautiful arc in the sky. Wherever it went, the giant mosquitoes were hacked in half. At the same time, Lex released a rain of fire. This Grade 2 magic was limited in its killing ability, but she had already analyzed the defenses of the giant mosquitoes. As the flames rained down, hundreds of giant mosquitoes were burned to ashes. Many of them lost their wings in the ensuing heat, falling to the ground.
However, there were at least tens of thousands of mosquitoes. If they continued casting their magic like this, Saleen would definitely not have enough magic chords.
Lex had no choice. She took out a scroll and opened it without hesitation. A green whirlpool instantly appeared in the air, dozens of whirlwinds flying out into the air and sweeping ferociously through the giant mosquitoes.
The whirlwind instantly grew to a span of over ten meters, forming a chaotic storm. Within the chaotic storm were countless wind blades, and more than half of the giant mosquitoes were sucked into the large scale magic. The others had seen that the situation was not in their favor and had turned to escape.
Seeing the mosquitoes escape, Saleen’s panic became even stronger. Insects that know how to escape? Could there be intelligent lives in this interdimensional space?
The two other swordmasters had the palest faces of all. These living things that moved around in groups were the most dangerous things for a swordsman. Without a mage with them, the two of them would have been sucked dry by the giant mosquitoes.
Looking at the giant mosquitoes running away, Lex did not give chase. She did have ways of catching up to them, but she was worried about the others. She was the strongest among the team now. Without her, the others could encounter danger at any time.
Nailisi ran to where the giant mosquitoes were and picked up two of their corpses, looking at them curiously. These things looked like magic insects but were not as strong. She placed one in her mouth, and with a crunching sound, bit off the shell of the giant mosquito. They had a metal-like shell, only it was very thin. As for the taste, Nailisi spat it out. It was disgusting.
Saleen picked up the corpse of a mosquito and took a closer look at it as well. It was not similar to any of the magic beasts found on the Myers Mainland. The blood from its wound was blue, and using magic to examine it, he discovered that it was not toxic.
Its thin mouth was shiny and he tried using it to impale a nearby rock. It was like piercing a piece of rotting meat. The sharp mouth entered the rock with ease.
“Mage…” A swordmaster walked over, taking out a piece of armor from his leather bag. It was a piece of back-up armor that he had prepared. Qin Empire armor was an interwoven work, unlike ancient knight’s armor. Once it was damaged, the entire thing needed to be repaired.
Saleen used the mouth to strike the armor which was at least half a finger thick. With a crushing sound, the mouth snapped, but half of it was pierced within the armor. The swordmaster’s face turned even paler. If these mosquitoes came near him, without a magic shield, his metal armor would not last for long. Although these giant mosquitoes had weak bodies, they were not weak at all when it came to attacking.
“Master, what do we do?” The other swordmaster asked Lex.
“The retaliation from the god’s ring will kill the oracle. My army won’t be destroyed. So long as father hears about this, he will find a way to save me.”
“Can’t we think of a solution ourselves?”
“If you are a Grade 10 mage, then I have a solution now,” Lex said calmly. Saleen, on the other hand, looked defeated.
Even if he was able to become a Grade 10 mage, it would take hundreds of years. In this interdimensional space, he had no way of purchasing any magic nuclei to use for practice. He did not need to think about becoming Grade 10. Even becoming a sorcerer was a daydream.
“Let’s find somewhere safe first. The god’s ring will require at least a year before it can be used again. If father wants to build an interdimension teleportation portal, he will need at least one to two years as well.” Saleen understood what was wrong with Lex’s words. The magic nucleus needed to power an interdimension teleportation portal would need to be at least Grade 9 or above.
A white spirit crystal would work too. However, the white spirit crystal he had could only be cut into four pieces. For an interdimension teleportation portal to work, they would need at least one hundred pieces. As for the map of said teleportation portal, he was not lacking one. There had been one behind the map of the temple. Saleen suddenly remembered that the teleportation portal was an independent one. If he could confirm the coordinates, there was hope that they could return.
However, he was unsure if the teleportation portal was capable of interdimension teleportation. He possessed too little knowledge when it came to arrays.
Living things were prohibited from entering the space between dimensions, and if something went wrong with the teleportation, they would be dead for sure. It would be better to wait for the Qin Emperor to save Lex. A two-way portal was very safe. At the very least, no one would be sent into the chaos of outer space.
Lex took out a piece of heavy crystal rock, added a magic brand onto it, and buried it underground. She released a fossilized spell to fossilize the ground, giving her an accurate coordinate.
There was no night and day in the interdimensional space, and a starting point would be required for them to not lose their way. Lex created another four of such magic coordinates and buried them at the four corners of their original coordinates. She pointed in a direction and said, “From now on, this direction will be north. Saleen, you must remember this coordinate. If we get lost, we will follow the magic imprint and gather to the north.”
Saleen nodded before Lex said, “We will walk north for five hours. Does anybody need to rest?”
“No.”
“Good, let us move forward then.” Lex took a look at the magic coordinates at her feet. Taking a deep breath, she walked in the direction that she had directed. The terrain here was flat, and if they encountered any danger, they would need to fight their ways out. With a Grade 5 mage leading these people in the dangerous god’s hell, the most important thing was to first find a safe place.
The God of Light was not benevolent, and god’s punishment would not send a person anyplace happy.
Saleen, along with Nailisi and Sika, followed up near the front. He was secretly glad that the elements in this interdimensional space were stable and were far from breaking down. His magic was not affected either.
However; god’s punishment had only been able to send them to this interdimensional space. Humans from tens of thousands of years ago had been able to travel across dimensions at will. Could it be that the abilities of the God of Light were not as powerful as those of the ancient humans?
