Chapter 239 - Just be patient and focus
Lu Weichun arrived with Mo Jing and joined her family in having their breakfast together.
Since they didn't have anything scheduled for the day, Lu Xingyan went back to her room.
She opened a drawer and pulled out a small artbook. She took her pencil before she went to the balcony and sat at the chair there.
The view of the sea was seen from the balcony and the soft breeze that was felt made the leaves of the trees, the flowers, and the grass below rustle.
The serene environment in front of her contradicted the dark thoughts inside her. It has been bothering for a while but she never showed it in her face.
As she sat on the chair, she opened the notebook and looked at the sketches she drew. She turned the pages, one by one, carefully and slowly.
The sketches were filled with the things that she remembered in the dream from the style of the machine, the mask of the killer to the way the houses looked. The more she looked at it, the more her dream became clearer.
What if that nightmare was actually a premonition of what's about to happen? If that's the case then she should do something about it, right? She just can't sit still knowing that people are going to be killed in the future.
She started moving the pencil as she began sketching the face of the woman in her dream. This time, it was precise and she wanted to remember it in case she might meet her in the future.
The woman in her dream was foreign. She was dressed into something... like a nurse. Could that woman be working as a nurse?
She was holding a box with a cross sign... It looked more like a first aid kit.
She was too focused on sketching the woman in her dream that she didn't realize her sister entering the room and approaching her from behind.
"Meimei." Lu Weichun called, startling her sister.
It was like a jumpscare for Lu Xingyan. Her heart was racing and pounding loud as if wanting to jump out of her chest. She was too focused earlier after all.
"J-jiejie..."
The older twin saw what she was drawing, "You're sketching again?"
Her drawings were not a new thing for her sister. In fact, Lu Weichun thought that is was just one of her sister's hobby to pass time.
"Yeah..." She closed her art book before she asked, "Why are you here?"
"Oh yeah, gege and I are going to go to the shooting range. Want to come with us?" Lu Weichun said, grinning at her.
"Shooting range..." She would rather read books than join them but because of her nightmare, she realized that she didn't have any special skills aside from using her brain. She was too weak. If that killer went after her, she didn't have any way to fight back.
"Sure." Lu Xingyan said with a small smile.
"Really?" Her sister was expecting her to decline that was why it kinda surprised her when she agreed.
"I kinda want to try it." Lu Xingyan reasoned out. "I was reading a book about guns, it kind of piqued my interest, seeing and using one in person."
Lu Weichun grinned, "Finally! You're leaving your comfort zone! Forget those boring books and let's go have fun!"
...
When they reached, the place was big with two standard shooting ranges, each designed with shooting targets. There was a weapon exhibit in the place as well for people who have strong interests in firearms.
Lu Xingyan was practically new to that place so she looked around in awe. She didn't lie when she told her sister that she has read a book about firearms.
She could easily recognize them but handling them first hand was hard.
While her siblings picked the weapon of their choice, Lu Xingyan was looking at the people who were practicing.
"Come on, Xiao Xing." Lu Mello called with a smile.
She only nodded as a response. She chose a Springfield XD Mod 2, a handgun for beginners before she wore her protective glasses and earmuffs. She followed her siblings after.
"So the right way to hold a gun is like-"
"I know." Lu Xingyan said, interrupting her sister. "I've read."
Lu Weichun pouted and huffed, "I almost forgot, you actually have a library in that brain of yours."
Her younger sister ignored her and instead, she positioned herself, even her feet were positioned to maintain the balance of her body just like how it was explained in the book.
A shot was heard next and the tally counter showed the score '0' on it.
"Don't mind, Xiao Xing. Since it's your first, it's only normal to miss." Lu Mello said, trying to comfort her.
She turned her gaze to him, "Show me."
"Don't hurry your shot. Just be patient and focus." He explained before he faced his target and showed her how it's done.
Shots were heard and the score Lu Mello received was 10, 9.8, and 9.9.
"You don't have to hurry, sis. Just be patient. It takes years of practice to be as good as gege." Her older twin chuckled.
Lu Weichun regretted saying that since they ended up staying in the place for so long.
Lu Xingyan was serious about wanting to be a good shooter.
That day, the highest score she was able to maintain was from the range of 7.8 to 8.5.
"I'm getting the hang of it." Lu Xingyan said after taking off her protective glass and earmuffs.
"Ugh... If only you aren't my sister, I would have long gone home." It was fine if they stayed in the place for an hour or two but staying for almost half a day just to accompany her, it was draining for Lu Weichun.
"Oh, are you done?" Lu Mello returned, carrying a plastic bag with food and drinks.
"Yes, I'm sorry for keeping you here, gege, Jiejie."
Lu Weichun sighed, "I'm starving, what did you get, gege?"
