Xia Meilin was feeling cold and hot at the same time. Every part of her body was hurting when she woke up. She whimpered in pain since she was having a high fever at that time. She felt something cold being placed on her forehead before she fell asleep again.
The next moment when she opened her eyes, she found herself inside a white room. She felt her hand being held and she tried pulling it away but it aroused the man who was holding it.
Lu Yifeng sat up straight and looked at her. His hair was messy, and dark bags were seen under his eyes. He looked terrible like this, he looked like he didn't sleep a wink ever since she was taken.
Realizing it was him, Xia Meilin ended up tearing up as she pursed her lips. "Y-Yifeng..." She cried as she held his hand tight.
He reached out his other hand and wiped her tears away, "Don't cry, everything is fine now. You're fine now."
She burst into tears and cried like a child as she squeezed his hand when she recalled what happened. She felt scared because of it. She was afraid and traumatized. If she wasn't able to escape that place, she could have been raped and killed by now.
Lu Yifeng helped her up and took her in his arms. After receiving a call from one of his men, he hurriedly went to the hospital where Xia Meilin was taken in. He felt his heart almost stop when he saw her condition.
He swore to himself that he will protect her and yet... he wasn't able to do that. He was known to be a powerful man and yet, he can't even do anything to find where his wife was when she was taken away by someone. At that moment, he felt worthless and useless. He wasn't even able to do something for the person he swore to protect.
He almost lost her... He was so scared to know that she almost slipped off his hand again. He lost her in his previous life and he wouldn't be able to take it if he lost her in this life too.
Even with his connections, the moment Xia Meilin was taken off from his radar, he couldn't find her. His men were searching for her but without any other lead except for the CCTV footage, he couldn't find her. Even if he was someone powerful, he still has his limits and because of his limitations, his wife was put to danger. He was not fast enough to find her.

"It's alright now, I'm here." He hugged her close in his arms. "You're going to be fine."
Feeling safe in his arms, Xia Meilin stopped crying and was able to calm down.
"Don't leave me..." She whispered in her weak and dry voice.
"I won't." He pulled away from the hug and wiped her wet face with his hands. "You must be hungry. Do you want to eat? I've brought you some congee."
Feeling her stomach grumble, she nodded quietly while she hugged her blanket.
Lu Yifeng put two pillows behind Xia Meilin to make her more comfortable before he turned around to get her congee.
"Yifeng... how long was I asleep?" She asked softly as her eyes never left his figure.
"Five days." He answered without turning to her.
"How did you find me?"
"I have been looking for you everywhere. I'm sorry for not being able to find you as soon as possible." He turned around and brought the hot congee to her and placed it on the table. He fed a spoonful of the food to her but since Xia Meilin's appetite was not getting better despite how her fever was now gone, she couldn't bring herself to finish the food he was feeding her.
Remembering the man who helped her, Xia Meilin couldn't help but ask, "The man who helped me... where is he?"
"Don't worry, I made sure to repay that man for helping you." He handed her a glass of water and the medicine that the doctor prescribed to have after she eats.
"How about Xiao Gua?" Xia Meilin asked after taking her medicine.
"He's fine. I told him that you were at work." He took the tray away.
Xia Meilin gave out a small smile before she lowered her head. "Bai Xiu Ying."
Lu Yifeng turned to her with his brows knitted together. "What?"
"She did this."
The atmosphere around Lu Yifeng changed. His eyes became bloodshot. "Bai Xiu Ying, you say?"
Xia Meilin nodded as she faced him. "I... also killed one of her men while escaping."
After placing the tray away, Lu Yifeng walked back to her and held her hand. "It's okay, you did it to protect yourself. What you did is the right thing."

She lowered her head and rested it on his chest. "I wasn't able to kill the other guy... What if he comes after me?"
"He will need to face me first." He patted her back gently. "Don't worry, this time, I will not let anyone touch a single hair in your head."
Xia Meilin looked up at him, her eyes becoming misty. "I-I'm sorry for bringing you trouble."
He leans and kissed her tears away. "The only trouble you can give me is if you left me... I thought that I had lost you forever..."
She buried her face in his chest as she hugged him. "I will never leave you, Lu Yifeng."
Xia Meilin was inside a VIP room of the hospital and every now and then, a nurse will come to check on her IV drip and dress her wounds.
To make sure that Xia Meilin was going to be well, Lu Yifeng allowed her to stay a few more days in the hospital.

She shakes her head. "Not until I make sure you go to sleep."
He light pinched her nose, "I'm fine. Go to sleep."
Xia Meilin refused to do that. Instead, she asked, "What's bothering you?"
"Nothing." He closed his eyes to avoid his question.
She pursed her lips. Xia Meilin was sure that it wasn't nothing. "Yifeng... Tell me."
