"Lu Yifeng! Explain!" Xia Meilin growled at him.
Lu Yifeng stretched his lips into a thin line as he looked at his wife. Why was she looking so angry at him? Weren't they doing well earlier?
He turned to Little Melon who was crying in his mother's arms. Was it because he didn't buy the music box earlier? Was Little Melon able to see through his lie?
When Lu Yifeng remained silent, Little Melon turned to him and pouted.
Lu Yifeng saw a flash of mischief in Little Melon's eyes... he was faking his cries! Such boy... when did he learn to act well?
"Mr. Lu?" Xia Meilin narrowed her eyes.
What should Lu Yifeng say? No matter how he looks at it, Xia Meilin wouldn't believe him.
Lu Yifeng stood up and went to stand behind Xia Meilin. He placed his hands on her shoulders and started massaging her there while he looked down at his son. The way Lu Yifeng looked at Little Melon was like a mighty and dangerous looking lion.
Little Melon furrowed his brows. Although Lu Yifeng looked like a mighty lion, Little Melon refused to back down since he has his mother on his side. He looked like a little cub, growling back to the mighty lion.
Xia Meilin noticed the tension between the two. She couldn't help but wonder what was wrong with the two of them. One moment, Little Melon was crying, the next moment, he was looking like he was about to attack his father.
They suddenly heard the doorbell and because of this, Xia Meilin took that chance to escape the two. "I will go get it."
"No. Let me go get it." Lu Yifeng said before he turned away and walked towards the door.
Xia Meilin sighed. She turned to Little Melon and stroked his hair before she touched his cheeks and wiped them dry. "Baby, tell me, what happened?"
Little Melon pouted. "Dada... was a meanie... Mello asked dada to buy me a music box, but dada ignored me."
She blinked a few times. They were fighting just because of that?
"Mello is mad at momma too! Momma should have let Mello join the bubble bath!"
She smiled a bit as she scratched her cheek with a finger. What kind of excuse should she tell him? She looked at him and held his cheeks with both hands. She leaned and placed a soft kiss on his lips. "How about this? We can have a bubble bath tonight. Do you want that?"
Little Melon puffed out his cheeks in an adorable manner as he stared at his mother. If that was her offer, then... "Mello will forgive momma."
"Thank you, sweetheart." She lightly pecked his forehead. "How about daddy?"
Little Melon crossed his arms and looked away. "Hmpf. Dada can wait."
"You shouldn't spoil him, Meilin." Lu Yifeng said as he entered the room.
Xia Meilin turned to him, "I'm not spoiling him." She quickly denied.
Lu Yifeng took a glance at Little Melon before he went to his seat. "You are."
"I'm not." She huffed. "By the way, who was that at the door earlier?"
"Su Lei."
"Oh." Xia Meilin didn't bother asking why since she was sure that it was about work again. She turned to Little Melon and patted his head. "Let's eat, shall we?"
Lu Yifeng stared at the two and sighed. What can he do against his wife and son? Was he the one spoiling them?
...
After their lunch, Little Melon went to the bedroom to get one of his toys from the toy box but then, something caught his attention. There was a paper bag on top of the bed.
As a curious child, Little Melon wanted to know what was in it. He took the paper bag and peeked inside. His eyes went wide when he saw the music box that he saw earlier. He quickly took it out and look at it in awe.
Lu Yifeng was watching his son admire the music box. He was leaning against the doorpost with his arms crossed.
The music box started playing the piece 'Canon' and it resounded throughout the whole room with its beautiful and clear sound.
"Is that what he wanted to buy earlier?" Xia Meilin asked as she stood beside Lu Yifeng.
"Mm."
Little Melon placed the music box on the bed before he got off the bed and run toward his father. "Thank you, dada!" He hugged his father's leg happily.
Lu Yifeng patted his son's head. "Next time, if you want something, you should say it out loud."
"Mello doesn't have to say it since dada already knows what I want just by looking at Mello." He grinned at him.
"You cheeky boy." He ruffled his head. Although Lu Yifeng has his usual blank look on his face, the gentleness in his eyes can be seen.
"Now that all is fine between you two, Xiao Gua, it's time for our afternoon nap."
Little Melon tilted his head to the side while looking adorably at his mother. "… 'Our'?"
"I'm going to join you," said Xia Meilin with a smile on her lips. She walked towards the bed and took the music box. She returned the music box inside the paper bag before she placed it on top of the bedside drawer.
