Chapter 1245: Mammoth Power

Zi did not seemed too stunned upon hearing such a bloody piece of insider information. Instead, she replied very calmly, “Is that important? When the 2012 apocalypse comes, they’ll all be dead anyway.”
Lee’s expression turned dark, as if someone had stuffed a dirty rag into his mouth. Then, he sighed.
“We’ve allocated the living space for as many as 200 Tibetan antelopes, but that’s already as much as we can afford. After all, the living space of us humans is also very limited. 200 Tibetan antelopes…will occupy the living space of 300 humans! Any more and it would be a crime against humanity!”
Suddenly, the alarm went off, and it sounded surprisingly urgent. As soon as they heard it, they could tell right away that it was an alarm which signified great danger! Lee immediately stood up and shouted, “What’s the matter? Investigate the cause at once!”
Soon, a steady voice transmitted over. “This is Patrol Squad 7. I repeat, this is Patrol Squad 7. The emergency alarm was sounded by Patrol Squad 5. The squad sergeant has issued a red flare symbolising the highest threat level. We’re still unable to establish communication with them. We’re already rushing to Patrol Squad 5’s area at the fastest speed possible. Over.”
“Heard you loud and clear, Patrol Squad 7. Be careful when you approach the area. Maintain communication with the base at all times. Over.”
“What the hell is that? It’s flying close to the ground…AAAAAHHHHH!!!!!!! .”
“Patrol Squad 7! What’s happening? Please reply!”
A mute static was all that answered Lee — or, more precisely, Major Lee.
Lee took a few deep breaths and looked at Party Ace, who had remained silent. He grit his teeth and made a call.
“Hello, is this Flight Team 1? Are you ready to mobilise? Yes, all five armed helicopters. The coordinates are (337,2858). You have been granted the highest level of authority. Two patrol squads have already been wiped out there, so as soon as you discover anything abnormal, fire at will!”
“Also, turn on all the cameras on the helicopters. Let us see who we’re up against!”
Five minutes later, they saw a few figures on the unique surface of Kekexili from the real-time video feedback. Sheyan’s pupils contracted. He immediately pressed the pause button.
“We finally ran into this guy.”
Zi, Reef and Sanzi saw who it was too. To be precise, they recognised the long spear that still seemed so sharp even when it was wrapped up.
Gungnir.
“Is there something wrong with this guy?” Zi suddenly asked. She instantly enlarged his image.
“Yes, his skin colour is a bit weird, like he’s been soaked in blue ink. Is this the aftermath of fighting with Bind?” speculated Sanzi.
Reef took a glance, then suddenly pushed Zi away. A person like Reef would never have done such a thing if he hadn’t seen anything out of the ordinary. He stared at the screen for a while, then made some adjustments with the computer. He then said, “Look at that guy!”
Sheyan’s expression changed when he saw the person Reef was pointing at. A shield was something that anyone would pay a lot of attention to, and that guy was carrying two of them! In addition, both shields appeared to be the kind of heavy shield that could stop a cavalry’s charge and must be held with both hands! They could immediately tell that this man was absolutely not that simple! He was likely not much weaker than Rocky.
Sheyan scowled at the unexpected bad news. Before this, he thought that a fight against Rocky was no big deal.
In terms of personal strength, Sheyan thought that Rocky and himself should be at the same level, even if Sheyan was only an Awakener and Rocky might be a fourth-order Temperer.
In terms of equipment, Rocky had the legendary Gungnir, but Sheyan’s liquid metal life-form had also reached the legendary grade and might even upgrade to a divine equipment in the future! Hence, Sheyan thought he still had the upper hand! Most importantly, Sheyan was sure he could take many more hits than Rocky, which means that he had a bigger margin for error, which means that he could trade blows and trade injuries. That was a great psychological advantage.
But this dual-shield warrior would undoubtedly became the backbone of Rocky’s side.
With the emergence of Awakening Skills, the role of an MT only became more important than before. A strong damage dealer could have a qualitative leap in terms of ability if he had the protection of an MT, even if the MT was very ordinary!
Before this, Sheyan was just “not afraid” of Rocky; he could not say that he would beat Rocky for sure. With this dual-shield MT in the equation, defeat was almost certain.
Reef took a deep breath. “So the rumour is true! This guy is likely Paper Weight, a person whose name resounded through our Realm a while ago. He has a strong passive innate ability: ‘Mammoth Power’. It lets him ignore equipping requirements, so he’s able to use two-handed weapons with one hand! I still remember the sight of him waving a two-handed sword with one hand while simultaneously carrying a Gatling gun on the other, charging about and going on a killing spree on the battlefield. Unfortunately, he disappeared not long afterwards. Some said he’s dead, while others said that another Realm valued him highly and had poached him away….”
Zi nodded. “I agree with you. I’ve heard of the reputation of the Mad Demon, Paper Weight too. It seems that he really was poached away by another Realm. I didn’t expect him to become an MT, and I sure didn’t expect him to be going up against us right now!”
“So that means he must have two innate abilities?” asked Sanzi.
“Yeah,” Reef answered solemnly.
But Sheyan was shocked by another piece of information instead.
“You mean we can leave Noah Realm C that we’re currently under to join another Realm?”
“I wasn’t sure before, but now, it seems so. It’s probably like a change of nationality on Earth,” replied Zi.
“What an interesting bit of information,” As Sheyan spoke, he clicked on the still image on the computer to cut it back to the live feed, and….the broadcast on the screen had already become statics and noises.
No one in Party Ace was surprised. Five combat helicopters without any idea of the terror of contestants being destroyed in less than twenty seconds was perfectly normal. To be honest, Zi alone could have done it.
But Major Lee could hardly believe his eyes. After a momentary daze, he leapt up and replayed the video recording. He saw the helicopters rapidly approach the group of people. The pilot was ready to fire at a moment’s notice.
But right then, one of the helicopters exploded, likely from a sniper shot. A mage contestant then extended his hand and fired a small fireball.
The fireball was very small in the beginning, but it quickly enlarged during its flight!
When the homing fireball struck one of the helicopters, it had expanded to a size bigger than a house! Its surface had a whirling pattern akin to a conch.
The struck helicopter was completely submerged in the fireball and seemed as if it had been swallowed. Even exploding had become a wishful thought.
As for the helicopter providing the video feedback, it managed to get within fifty meters of the group amidst heavy fire. Then, Steel File, the man Reef called Paper Weight, suddenly stood up straight. His right hand flashed with a red light, and he flung one of his shields over.
As the heavy shield whirled through the air at high speed, the air in its path moaned and distorted. The shield first crashed into another helicopter, then bounced away from the fire and smoke to slam into the broadcasting helicopter, which was still madly pouring ammunition.
The screen turned pitch black after that.
“What…” Major Lee appeared to be in disbelief.
Sheyan walked over to him and sighed. “You’ll need to mobilise an entire division to deal with those guys, but I guarantee you, when the division arrives, they would have vanished without a trace, never to be seen again! Another way is to use attrition tactics. In other words, use the lives of your troops to slowly eat away at their MP and stamina!”
Major Lee’s expression was rather unsightly. “That’s impossible. How can such monsters exist?”
Sheyan sighed again. “The combined strength of those seven people is probably comparable to that of a regiment of soldiers armed to the teeth. You can weigh the pros and cons yourself.”
“I understand….” Major Lee sighed bitterly and continued, “I finally understand why Mr. G wants you to take over the defensive system. Such unconventional enemies require unconventional tactics to deal with.”
“I’ll go ahead then,” Sheyan went to the command station and asked Major Lee to input his voiceprint and fingerprint. The first thing Sheyan did after that was to check the situation of the base’s guard forces, as well as the authority he currently had and the forces he could mobilise.
Sheyan had to admit that the strength of those seven people was far above Party Ace’s. He would have to compensate for this gap in strength with the storyline characters. Even ants could kill elephants if they had enough numbers. The forces in this base weren’t weak; if they were used correctly, it was not impossible to defeat that group of seven, perhaps even wipe them out.
“I need full control of the three satellites AS-03, AS-07 and AD-98. Cut off the unnecessary activities of the rest of the satellites immediately and focus on scanning the area of latitude XXX and longitude XXX. Your target is a group of seven people. The photos of all seven have been sent to you.”
