Chapter 1239: Deduction and Battle!

The ‘Smelly Toruk Particles’ were disgusting in both appearance and smell, but Zi was actually quite indifferent to them. This probably had something to do with the fact that one of her favourite types of coffee was made by grinding undigested coffee beans picked from the excrement of wild civets, which was a somewhat similar process.
Sheyan meticulously inquired about the whole process of Freddy’s murder as observed by Old Charlie, down to the last detail. He found that this attack method was perfect to ambush someone. It truly was sinister and vicious to the extreme, a typical example of winning without shedding a drop of blood.
But according to Old Charlie, after Freddy had killed the contestant, he instantly claimed that he must take some time to immerse himself in the pleasure of this unprecedented way of killing someone, and dove into the depths of Old Charlie’s consciousness. The whole process had probably exhausted a great deal of his energy.
From the information Freddy got from this guy named Gullis, the military had an alternative plan to transport the Galaxy System through the air by using an Aérospatiale SA 321 Super Frelon helicopter. The theory behind it was to make use of the huge commotion made by the large convoy on the ground to attract the focus of the enemies, thus making the aerial route safer. Of the two other members of Gullis’ party, one of them must be preparing to intercept the helicopter right now, while the other should be gathering more intelligence in case there was another transportation route.
Human could not fly without the help of machines, so if the person wished to intercept the helicopter, he would surely have to lie in wait at a high terrain not far from the landing spot.
Therefore, even without knowing the specific location, Party Ace still easily managed to narrow down the possible hiding spot of the enemy to three places around Heping Town from the map. No matter where the helicopter came from, it would be within the shooting range of these three high grounds.
On the way to Heping Town, Sanzi turned on the LCD TV inside the car they had hijacked. A news story caught Sheyan’s attention.
“Incidents of social unrest, including looting and burning, have occurred in various areas around the world due to widespread rumors of the 2012 apocalypse based on Mayan predictions. A large-scale terrorist attack had taken place in Detroit, the famous automobile city in the United States. An explosion had occurred in a high-rise building, causing its collapse. Heavy casualties have been reported, but we are yet able to confirm the actual numbers. Many on scene have claimed to witness supernatural incidents which cannot be explained with science. Please stay tuned to our follow-up reports for further details.”
“Detroit?” The mention of the city immediately drawn the attention of Sheyan. After all, that was where they had obtained the powerful Lieutenant General Blood Sword: Evil Sword Apophis. Unfortunately, the news did not provide any images, but there was a laptop in the car they stole, so they instantly browsed the internet for more information.
This incident was obviously big news in the States, so many details had been posted in various online forums. Sheyan found a picture which showed the building before and after it collapsed. Sheyan recognised the collapsed building at first glance — it was a building from the place where they killed the Divine Servant. A horrifying hemispherical hole was clearly visible a bit towards the bottom from the middle of the building. Even with the naked eye, they could tell that it burrowed into the building at least 20 meters deep, and had around the same radius.
Broken steel bars, wood and other materials which made up the interior of the building scattered like horrible broken guts in the corroded hole. From the picture, they could almost feel the dust of the rubble billowing in the wind!
According to physics, the building should have collapsed in the direction where the hole was made, but strangely, it fell the opposite way! It fell on its back, so the huge wound in its abdomen was still visible after it collapsed. This showed that when the unknown and mysterious power eroded into the building, it also carried with it a great force which pushed the building backwards, causing its collapse.
The comments below the picture were filled with remarks of astonishment:
“Oh my God, this building hasn’t been built for more than five years! How did the steel frame inside corrode like it had been submerged in the bottom of the Atlantic Ocean for a hundred years? This must be the result of a corruption in the construction!”
“I think you’re full of sh*t.”
“As someone in Detroit, I’m so glad I went to the KFC there last week and not on the day the building collapsed!”
“Life sure is unpredictable. I remember the last time I went to Detroit, I bought some clothes from the Versace store there.”
“Okay, enough with the humble-bragging.”
“Looks like shoddy constructions are present everywhere in the world.”
“This is clearly the aftermath of a fight between the Power Rangers and Godzilla.”
“…”
(TL: Damn. I think he might be browsing 4chan.)
Sheyan looked through several online forums. All the pictures were quite similar, but he did find an interesting photo from a Taiwanese website. It was a photo taken from a skyscraper next to the collapsed building. From the bird’s eye view, it could be seen that although the collapsed building was indeed the most seriously wrecked, several buildings around it had also suffered severe damages and were emitting thick smoke.
Sheyan’s eyes brightened. He immediately enlarged the photo and inspected it for some time. It was fortunate that the photo had pretty high resolution. He found a basin-sized hole on the glass curtain wall of a building nearby. The hole was neatly cut, and what was bizarre was that it completely penetrated through the building, so Sheyan could even see the scenery on the other side! This means that there was a strike powerful enough to penetrate through the entire thickness of the building!
When Zi saw the hole, she immediately remarked, “This is left by the Gungnir of that Rocky guy! Look at the edge of the hole!”
Following Zi’s remark, Sheyan immediately noticed that the edge of the hole was like wax that had melted and re-solidified! The re-solidified traces seemed like they were splashing outwards, so one could imagine the power at the moment of penetration!
“Rocky had actually killed some people before we found him that day. He hid the traces well, but I still noticed them. Wherever his Gungnir pierced through, this kind of traces could be seen,” Zi added.
Following that, Sheyan continued searching for various images and information on the “terrorist attack”. According to the rough calculation they made, they estimated that Rocky had attacked thirteen times in total!
Sheyan could now roughly guess what had happened. After the Divine Servant was killed, Bind had teleported over in a rage. However, to teleport in that condition probably made him very conspicuous. Rocky had likely noticed him and arrived in pursuit.
When Rocky found out that Bind had lost the Evil Sword Apophis, he instantly took the initiative to attack. A fierce fight broke out between the two monsters, causing collateral damage to the citizens and buildings around them….
“I wish we know how the fight ended,” Reef murmured.
Sheyan gave it some thought and said, “Either they were both gravely injured, or Rocky had lost and had run away,”
“Why? You don’t have much confidence in Rocky?”
“Rocky’s Gungnir was built to finish the opponent with one strike. Even the gods tremble under its majesty. An attack from the Gungnir is like an emperor’s edict; if the emperor wants you to die, you will not live! But in this fight, Rocky had thrown the spear more than a dozen times! He was definitely in panic! Think about it; if an emperor can’t even get something done after passing down more than a dozen edicts in a row, it’s basically the end for the emperor. What dignity does he have left to speak of?” Sheyan earnestly replied.
Reef chimed in, “A direct confrontation between these two powerhouses will definitely result in serious injuries to both sides, even if they both lived.”
Sheyan nodded. “You’re probably right, so we wouldn’t need to worry about being attacked by these two for the next two or three days. The injuries from a fight of this magnitude won’t recover that fast.”
The car stopped with a jolt. Heping Town was not far ahead. Since they did not have to worry about the threat from Bind and Rocky, they decided to split into two groups to search two of the possible hiding spots simultaneously.
Sheyan went with Sanzi to the protruding spot on the west side of the hill. The rest went to the cove on the east side. If they could not find anything on either side, they would approach the middle at the same time.
A hundred meters away from the spot to the west, Sheyan suddenly detected a strong sense of danger. He instantly stopped and raised his head. From over a hundred meters ahead, he saw a middle-aged man in yellow clothes looking down at them.
His face was bluish and pale, like he was malnourished. A silvery-white box was placed next to him. The middle-aged man stared at Sheyan with a gaze so fierce that it felt like it could pierce into a person. He uttered viciously, one word at a time, “You’ll definitely die here.”
As soon as the middle-aged man said that, Sheyan instantly had a very uncomfortable feeling. His heart rate spiked to 180 bpm in an instant, then dropped down to 5-6 bpm a few seconds later! The cycle was so uncomfortable that it almost made him puke blood!
Sheyan had also noticed that the middle-aged man’s face turned terribly pale after he finished speaking. Blood also dripped down his mouth!
The middle-aged man’s right hand reached into the silvery-white box, and the box suddenly began to rotate and fold like a Rubik’s Cube. It transformed at an extraordinary speed into a dangerous-looking silvery-white machine gun!!
