The more Jiang Duo thought about it that night, the more he felt like he had nothing to live for anymore. He felt that if something happened to his grandfather tomorrow, his fate would be incomparably tragic.
Jiang Duo didn’t sleep until 3am.
He frequently went to the door of Grandpa Jiang’s room and paced up and down. It was a pity that the old man was getting the rare good night’s sleep that night, so he had no idea that his grandson was pacing outside his room.
Jiang Duo, on the other hand, wanted to steal back the medicine which he had given to his grandfather, and tried to comfort himself with the belief that his grandfather could still be saved since he had only taken one pill.
But his grandfather’s door was tightly shut.
Jiang Duo heard movement in his parents’ room, and was so intimidated that he hurriedly ran back to his room.
At 3am, Jiang Duo was still awake, and his eyes were red and swollen. Just in case, he sent his final words to his close friends, telling them not to think of him anymore. He wanted to send it to Lu Yunfeng first, but when he thought about how he had used that medicine, he felt guilty and didn’t say anything, and only transferred back the 1.5 million which Lu Yunfeng had sent to him earlier.
By the time he was done writing all sorts of final words and messages, it was almost daybreak. Jiang Duo pulled the blanket over his head and wept, afraid that he would hear some bad news early in the morning.
Jiang Duo didn’t sleep the entire night. He prayed to the gods and hoped that his grandfather’s condition wasn’t worse in the morning. It weighed on his mind, and his eyes were open until 9:30 in the morning.
Father and Mother Jiang had woken up early. Father Jiang hated this kid’s habit of lazing around in bed the most, so he immediately had Mother Jiang go upstairs to call Jiang Duo down.
Mother Jiang nodded.
“Wait, Ah Rou, where’s Dad? Or did he wake up early and go out?” Father Jiang knew very well that his father had suffered a lot of internal injuries in the past, and as he got older, he didn’t sleep as well. He usually woke up earlier than they did. Ever since his father’s health deteriorated this month, he woke up even earlier in the morning. However, he was prone to coughing and his health wasn’t good, so how could he go out?
Mother Jiang also looked worried when she heard Father Jiang’s words. “It seems Dad… is still asleep? He hasn’t woken up!”
“How can Dad still be asleep?” Father Jiang took no notice of Mother Jiang’s words. The more he thought about it, the more uneasy he felt. He hurried upstairs, worried that something had happened to the old man after the latter ate the medicine which Ah Duo had brought back last night. If something happened to his father, he would cripple that kid.
On the other hand, at the thought that the old man still hadn’t woken up, Mother Jiang was terrified, and hurriedly went to her son’s room.
Jiang Duo wasn’t asleep to begin with, and when he heard the knock on his door, he couldn’t help but shiver. When he heard that it was Mother Jiang, he hurriedly got up and opened the door.
Seeing her son’s bloodshot and swollen eyes, Mother Jiang was worried. “Ah Duo, what’s wrong with you?”
Jiang Duo swallowed his saliva. “Mom, did Grandpa wake up today? How’s his complexion today? Has it improved?”
He wasn’t hoping that his grandfather’s condition had improved; he just hoped that it hadn’t worsened.
Recalling how the old man hadn’t gotten up that morning, Mother Jiang was somehow scared witless. She hurriedly said, “Ah Duo, tell me honestly, where did you buy that bottle of medicine?”

Jiang Duo choked and cried as he said that he had helped his friend buy it from a shady shop. Yesterday, he couldn’t stand his father scolding him, so he took out the bottle of medicine without thinking.
