Chapter 115: Burial Mound, Burning Talismans!
Qi Hao might be a blowhard and would ordinarily jeer and not take these talismans seriously himself, but when he saw how Wang Xuewen and those women mock Brother Zhu and his good intentions, he wasn’t happy.
He sneered. “This is Brother Zhu’s good intentions. You don’t want it, so why does it matter to you if I keep it as useless paper?”
With that, regardless of Wang Xuewen and Sun Jiezhen’s jeers, he protected the talismans which Brother Zhu had given to him. The others might not want them, but he couldn’t bear to throw them away. He had repeatedly promised Brother Zhu that he wouldn’t throw away his intentions, so he silently kept them in his backpack and said nothing.
Wang Xuewen and Si Yinghua were focused on the beautiful woman beside them. Seeing how their good brother was angry, Si Yinghua wanted to drop the subject, but Wang Xuewen suddenly seized a handful of talismans from Qi Hao’s bag when Qi Hao wasn’t looking, picked up a lighter, and set them on fire. As he did so, he said to the three laughing beauties beside him, “I’m now breaking feudal superstitions. Everyone, take a good look!”
“Damn!” Fortunately, Qi Hao had quick reflexes, so Wang Xuewen didn’t snatch away too many, and there was still half left.
To establish that he was a man of science in front of these women, Wang Xuewen feigned burning some of the talismans that he had brought in his bag.
Qi Hao was so angry that he scolded him as a f*cking idiot, mainly because he couldn’t stand this kid ruining Brother Zhu’s feelings. If it wasn’t because this wasn’t the right place for it, he would have punched him.
It was Jian Chongying and Lu Chengfu who stopped him in time.
Unlike the heartless Wang Xuewen and Si Yinghua, who moved ahead, Jian Chongying walked over to Qi Hao and asked for a talisman. Regardless of whether or not Brother Zhu had met a swindler, he ultimately had good intentions.
Qi Hao was going to give half to Jian Chongying, who in the end just took two. Lu Chengfu was normally very fond of this big brother, Zhu Bocheng. Seeing Jian Chongying give him face and take two, he also came forward and took one.
Only then did the three follow the people in front.
The sky was already dark by then. It was only 5:30 pm, but the sky here was darker than elsewhere for some reason.
The quiet was filled with the cries of ravens and the flapping of bats.
Lu Chengfu was the most cowardly among them. Looking at this eerie and terrifying wilderness, a chill that came out of nowhere crawled down his neck. He shivered and tugged at Wang Xuewen in front of him in fright. “The silence in this damn place is a little scary. Why is it all the cries of birds? And it’s not even 6pm yet, but why is it so dark?”
Lu Chengfu was a timid person with a wild imagination, so he couldn’t help but think of the taxi driver’s advice. He didn’t know if it was because of the man’s words, but when he looked at the birds making a racket in this wilderness, he got goosebumps all over his body.
“Haha, is that all you’ve got? Are you a man?” Wang Xuewen and Si Yinghua looked at each other and then punched him as they mocked him rudely.
Beside them, Sun Jiezhen and the others also did the same and mocked Lu Chengfu for being too cowardly.
Lu Chengfu had been a bit interested in the three beautiful women on the way, but he really didn’t like their characters. In the capital, women took the initiative to get close to him, and none would dare mock him like this.
Lu Chengfu kept his distance from the three women in front of him; he wouldn’t fight with Wang Xuewen and Si Yinghua for their attention.
As for Qi Hao and Jian Chongying, who had always been the most popular with women, they didn’t take the three women in front of them seriously at all.
Sun Jiezhen, Jiang Meng and Chen Bing had initially fawned on the two, but Wang Xuewen and Si Yinghua coaxed them to their sides. They also found out that these two were rich second-generation heirs, so how could they turn cold shoulders to them?
