Chapter 3010 - Greeting the Minor Pathkeeper
The experts of Myriadpath Valley gathered in Skyward Hall to oversee the competition. After all ten thousand participants entered the Skyward Grandpath, the experts proceeded to seal the entrance. Thus began the real fight between trapped beasts.
"Someone once estimated that the mortality rate for those wearing the golden myriadpath ring is about one in a hundred thousand throughout history. Meanwhile, thirty percent of those with the black myriadpath ring die, another thirty percent are disabled, and only forty percent make it out whole, though most of them are eliminated."
"How can anyone dispute the use of the golden myriadpath ring with those statistics?"
"It’s hard to say. The general consensus is that geniuses cultivated by Myriadpath Valley are superior to those from the Million Mundi, so it isn’t surprising that the wide gap in strength results in such statistics."
In the Skyward Hall, two middle-aged men whispered amongst themselves.
"Silence!"
"Yes...."
Breaking out in a cold sweat, the two men quickly lowered their heads. There was a three-meter-tall man dressed in yellow robes sitting on the high golden chair in front of them. His red hair that was more than two meters long exploded like a lion's mane, draping over his seat. The man had a pair of fiery tiger eyes and dark red skin that radiated starlight. His superiority and majesty was evident at first glance. He was the proctor of Skyward Grandpath and the head of the House Huang, Huang Daolie.
However, he had secured the title of “reverend”, so those with a lower status called him Reverend Daolie. Anyone with such a title was considered to be a member of Myriadpath Valley’s upper class. His position in Myriadpath Valley put him above zillions in the Million Mundi. Like a blazing nova source, Huang Daolie, with his fiery eyes and intense aura, seemed to ignite all of Myriadpath Valley. The Myriadpath cultivators around him were illuminated by the burning starlight emanating from his body.
Despite being the proctor, Reverend Daolie didn’t show up to take the reins very often. The reason he was there in person today was because his son, Huang Daoxiong, had entered the Skyward Grandpath for the first time. The children of reverends were expected to pass the Skyward Grandpath on their first try, or they would fail to meet the standard. However, Reverend Daolie expected more: his children had to take first place!
There was nothing the experts could do except compliment him. Although Myriadpath Valley was the holy land of cultivation, playing up to those in power was normal. No matter how powerful they were, they still had to succumb to the ways of the world. Unless they became the valley lord, they would have to bow to those stronger than them. They were even more pragmatic than anywhere else in the cosmos; after all, the competition for resources was fiercest there.
Reverend Daolie wasn’t interested in talking, so they all remained silent. The competition had just begun and they were all staring out, watching the action in every location and adjusting the distribution of wildbeasts in real time.
At that moment, a figure descended outside the gates of Skyward Hall, breaking the silence. Many merely glanced outside, but panicked when they saw who the visitor was.
"Minor Pathkeeper!"
The mighty Reverend Daolie was the first to head outside, his proud upper body slightly bending before the figure.
"Greetings, Minor Pathkeeper." They all fell to their knees.
Amidst the starlight, a young woman in a white dress embellished with diamonds landed outside Skyward Hall. Her long, light pink hair was tied up in braids and her pink eyes shone brightly, like Ji Ji’s. She was extremely beautiful and possessed an air of nobility, her face like a work of art and her body glowing. Like a heavenly immortal floating above the mortal world, her delicate yet refined demeanor made her seem sacred and unapproachable.
Although she and Feiling possessed the same kind of beauty, there was a difference between them. Feiling had a sense of purity that made her more approachable, down-to-earth, and likable. This young woman looked pure and lovely, but there was something else in her eyes and body language.
"Stop it, it’s annoying."
The pink-haired woman walked past Reverend Daolie and headed toward Skyward Hall. Those blocking her were immediately kicked aside. Holding up the hem of her dress, she took Reverend Daolie’s seat without so much as a word, her eyes staring at the hall below.
"Minor Pathkeeper...." Reverend Daolie sneakily made his way up and was about to say something when the young woman glared at him. He had no choice but to shut up and sheepishly smile.
"Grandfather won't let me go anywhere. I'm so bored. This is the closest place to the outside. I'm here to watch the monkey show. Don't bother me or talk to me," she said, clenching her fists.
"Yes!" Reverend Daolie said as he quickly retreated to the other side, fiercely glaring at the others. With that, they all dispersed and left to do their own thing.
A while later, the pink-haired woman suddenly shouted, "Huang Daolie!"
“Minor Pathkeeper, what can I do for you?" Huang Daolie rushed to the front.
"The wildbeasts in the Skyward Grandpath are being slaughtered! So people kill the beasts but not the other way around?" the young woman asked.
"Well... the way the Skyward Grandpath is designed, they’re supposed to kill wildbeasts to gain points. Participants compete against one another, the beasts are just a medium..." Huang Daolie said.
"What's there to watch then?" She retorted.
"I see!" Huang Daolie laughed and turned to the person behind him. "Double the number of wildbeasts and release a few more mid-ether-class beasts."
"Mid-ether class? Aren’t there any high-ether-class wildbeasts?" The young woman asked.
"Yes, but high-ether-class wildbeasts are as strong, if not stronger, than seventh-level cosmic cartographers. These kids can't handle that," Huang Daolie said as he felt a headache come on. His son was still in there!
"Release them," she said.
"Yes...." He had no choice but to nod.
Terrifying beasts entered the Skyward Grandpath one after another. Pulling out snacks from her spatial ring, the young woman crossed her legs and watched with excitement.
