Chapter 158: Played as a clown
"...Fuck!"
"No matter what, this is too shameless!"
"I can't believe it!"
"The election has not even started yet Heng Bingwen is already claiming that seat? Aren't they too arrogant?"
The ardent supporters of Heng Huizhong couldn't sit quietly. They immediately showered Heng Bingwen with a storm of verbal attacks. However, the youth who confidentially claimed the seat had his expressions clean and serene.
Watching the development from a sideline, Jing Lihua quietly praised in her heart. 'This Heng Bingwen, he is really doing good for his age. At the time I was twenty, I have to admit I wouldn't have been able to come up with such confidence.'
Suddenly a bang was heard.
Heng Guizhong had completely lost it and slammed his hands on the table. His eyes were bloodshot as he glared at Jing Lihua, then Heng Bingwen. No matter what, this was too outrageous.
"President Jing, you are totally going over the board." He suddenly said.
Jing Lihua was surprised when instead of criticizing his son, he attacked her. After all, Heng Bingwen was the one who claimed the seat so logically thinking, Heng Huizhong should have attacked him.
But Jing Lihua quickly understood his intentions. 'So he wants to take advantage of the fact that I am an outsider against me and Heng Bingwen?' She smirked.
As if, she would let him.
"I don't understand Mr. Heng's words. All the time, I have been sitting here quietly. When had I ever said or done something that is total 'over-the-board'?" She asked with a confused expression in her eyes.
Looking at the genuine confusion, Heng Huizhong felt his blood boiling in anger.
"You have been the one who has been guiding my son all along." Heng Huizhong said, exposing what was in whispers to everyone. "He is merely twenty. If not for your words, why would he have displayed such disrespect towards Heng Software Limited?"
Jing Lihua's confusion deepened. "I don't understand Mr. Heng. I and Heng Bingwen clearly didn't come together. If I was the one who had been guiding him wouldn't it be proper If I had brought him with me?"
"You...!"
There was a purpose behind Jing Lihua's words. 'Even if today Heng Bingwen manages to get that Chief Executive position, that Heng Huizhong can continue to create problems for him in the future on the excuse that Heng Bingwen is my 'Pawn'. So no way I will admit openly that I support Heng Bingwen.'
There was a slight smile in Jing Lihua's eyes, barely discernable. But it was there.
Jing Lihua words had an effect.
The people in the meeting room had conflicted expressions over their faces. Doubts appearing in their minds.
'Could it be that Heng Bingwen wasn't actually Jing Lihua pawn?'
'Could it be that Heng Huizhong just used it as an excuse to continue holding the power in his hands?'
After all, the lust for power was more charming than one's kinship
Heng Huizhong quickly maintained himself. He wouldn't let the situation slip from his hands. "If that's the case then how come you already declared Heng Bingwen as the Chief Executive even before the voting procedure started? If it is not the blatant display of your support then what?" Heng Huizhong's expressions gradually returned to being calm. He had the situation in his hands.
However, Jing Lihua's smile became more pronounced.
A slight laugh was heard in the meeting Hall.
"Mr. Heng..." She said suppressing her laughter. "If I am not to call the Chief Executive the Chief Executive then what?"
Heng Huizhong pupil shrank. "What do you mean?"
"What I mean is pretty clear." Jing Lihua sighed, slightly shaking her head. "I am just surprised that Mr. Heng had managed this company for so long yet he is unclear of the situation." When she looked up, there was an evil glint in her eyes. "What I mean is that have you not noticed? Among all of the shareholders, there are still some that are not here today?"
.
.
.
Heng Huizhong had been waiting for a match and win that Jing Lihua and Heng Bingwen pair to demonstrate his influence. But it was so, he had been lost since the very beginning. All the time, he thought he had the cards in his hands, he was actually made into a clown.
Many days before today, after Jing Lihua had called him, Heng Bingwen had been working nonstop. He had been able to contact and convince some of the people to sell their shares to him.
And the part of 'convincing' them, of course, he used some underhand tactics exploiting their secrets he learned owing to his skills and blackmailed them into handing over the shares.
Since all of those were minor shareholders with a small number of shares, they didn't struggle much and even Heng Huzihong couldn't notice.
However, their sum amounted to that eighteen percent they were lacking for the position.
Heng Huizhong could not have seen that coming.
Because, in the end, he underestimated his son.
He had only kept in watch against Jing Lihua's actions. If she had made a move, he could have used Su enterprise to help him.
However, against his own son, he hadn't taken any caution.
"Damn it!" Heng Huizhong cursed under his breath. "If that Jing Lihua had blackmailed our people and forced them to and over the shares, I could use that against Heng Bingwen. I could easily prove that Heng Bingwen is her pawn... But he hadn't taken any help from her. What am I going to hold against him?" Heng Huizhong found himself in the corner.
No matte
r how hard he thought, he couldn't come up with a solution.
"Husband, don't worry. You still have your shares..." Lang Lan tried to ease him.
"How am I supposed to not worry?" Heng Huizhong blew into a rage. "Now that Heng Bingwen is the Chief Executive, he can have access to everything. Do you know what that means? In the past, I had supplied Tang enterprise with software infected with undetectable programs that would copy and send us sensitive intel of her projects. That is illegal, I breached the contract with her company. If that Jing Lihua gets her hands on the proof, she can easily file a strong lawsuit against me!"
Lang Lan's eyes widened in shock.
