Chapter 127 - That means you guys have not yet consummated your marriage? Right?

Being stared by everyone, Jing Lihua coughed awkwardly "There are a lot of beauties with green eyes in Beijing. I'm sure of that!" Jing Lihua smiled at Madame Bao. "It seems like your future daughter-in-law is a foreigner." Jing Lihua wanted Madame Bao to play along but that was only her wishful thinking.
"No, quite the contrary. She is national with unique and natural green eyes." Madame Bao smiled very innocently.
Everyone once again stared at Jing Lihua. Damn it!
"I hope to meet this mysterious daughter-in-law in the future. Being chosen by Madame Bao, she must be a gem; far better than us! Considering the fact we share a resemblance, I expect to get along well with her." Jing Lihua smiled indicating in her words she was not what everyone was thinking who she was. She prayed in her heart that Madame Bao wouldn't spoil it this time. To her relief, Madame Bao chuckled and decided to let Jing Lihua off for now.
Everyone else thought what Jing Lihua said made sense.
Getting away from everyone's attention Jing Lihua had just sighed in relief when a gossiper suddenly asked: "Jing Lihua I hear that your husband gave up the position to his uncle. He must be very free right now. You guys must be enjoying a nice time together." She winked at Jing Lihua trying to tease her.
Wink at your mother!
Jing Lihua was horrified. She craned her neck to look at Madame Bao. She was appalled to see her expressions and almost dropped the cup again. 'W-Why so scary expressions mother? Why are you looking at me like I am cheating on your son? They are talking about my husband. Hey! I never did anything wrong! Then why!'
The situation was horrendous!
"It's not like that!" Jing Lihua coughed. She wanted to disappear. She was surely going to have this gossiper auntie suffer a taste of her medicine. But for that, she needed to first get out of here, alive. looking at Madame Bao's darkening expressions, that looked difficult.
Su Jiayi saw an opportunity. "Auntie, my sister-in-law is too embarrassed to say it. Don't be hard on her. So let me tell you on her behalf. Although, my brother had given up his position the workload on him has merely doubled. He doesn't even often return home. So sister-in-law barely gets to see him. Since their marriage, they had barely spent a night together." Su Jiayi forced expression of anguish and heartbreak. "I have told my brother countless times to pay more attention to sister-in-law but he never listens. He gives priority to work." Su Jiayi shook her head in a regretful manner. "My heart aches for my sister-in-law. I wished he could treat her better considering that they are newly married. If only my words alone could change him." Su Jiayi had gotten too far. After her flawless acting, she looked up to see Madame Bao's expressions to see the disgust in her eyes.
But she was startled to see Madame Bao smiling and her eyes glittering as she had just heard the most wonderful news of her life! Su Jiayi couldn't understand anything. While everyone else was looking at Jing Lihua with strange expressions why did Madame Bao looked so happy?
Jing Lihua sighed in relief. In her mind, she thanked Su Jiayi for saving her. 'Thanks, I owe you one'
"Well, that's so bad. I'm so sorry to hear that" Madame Bao said that with a smile not sounding sorry at all. "Pardon my intrusion, but that means you guys have not yet consummated your marriage? Right?" With earnest expressions, she asked like she really wanted an answer.
Jing Lihua: "..."
Everyone else: "..."
She did not just say that. No, she can't say that. That's Jing Lihua ears deceiving her. How can she say something like that so casually in front of a group of women? It was obviously Jing Lihua hearing wrong.
Madame Bao laughed understanding she might have gotten too far. "Oh, look at you guys. Getting all serious. I was just kidding."
"Madama Bao, you have a nice sense of humor." People followed her laugh attempting to butter her up like usual.
Jing Lihua sighed and looked at the phone. She had just received a message. "Madame Bao, if you'll excuse me. Someone has been waiting for me."
Madame Bao smiled very kindly at Jing Lihua: "Why not? Leave but tell that someone once you meet him that I meant it what I said to him earlier."
Jing Lihua shuddered. Her words seemed to carry some hidden message. A dark hidden message that only Li Zhiqiang would be able to decipher. While everyone else was puzzled about what Madame Bao meant by those words, Jing Lihua quickly picked up the sleeping cat and ran out of the apartment.
She had just taken a few steps away when she was called out. "Stop there Jing Lihua!"
She turned around and saw Su Jiayi standing a few meters away from her. Her expressions were not very happy. Jing Lihua frowned. "Looking for some more trouble, is she?" Jing Lihua mumbled to herself then assumed her signature smile.
Su Jiayi walked to Jing Lihua slowly wanting to scare her with her cold expressions. When Jing Lihua didn't step back. Noticing that Su Jiayi said: "It seemed what they all say is true. You have changed Jing Lihua." Su Jiayi scoffed. "But let me tell you no matter how much you change or no matter whom you find out, I'll see the end of you." Earlier she had been polite to Jing Lihua because madame Bao was nearby. Now that they were alone, she didn't need to pretend. "You might have gotten some acquaintance with Madame Bao, but let me tell you. Su family has been doing business with them for longer than you can imagine. So don't think you have any advantage on us."
Jing Lihua yawned. "Are you done?" Then she made a contemplative face and said. "Why am I even asking? Even if you are not done I'll leave now. You can continue talking to the air for all I care." Jing Lihua laughed and turned away but just then Su Jiayi reached out her hand to grab Jing Lihua elbow.
But her fingers couldn't even touch Jing Lihua when a white feisty cat pounced at Su Jiayi.
