Chapter 156: Challenged Authority
"Er... I mean Chief Executive!" The subordinate was smart. He quickly corrected his way of addressing and prevented Heng Huizhong's wrath.
Heng Huizhong gave him a side glance. His tone was a bit off as he emphasized. "I have said this beforehand. This election is just a formality. I was the Cheif Executive before and I would remain the Chief Executive again. This election event... It is just a formality."
"Yes, Chief Executive. No one is more worthy of this position than you! Over this fact, no one in the company has doubts. Please pardon the slip of the tongue of this subordinate!' The subordinate quickly flattered Heng Huizhong. No matter who won the position today, he was still a small fry. "I was intending to inform you that everyone has arrived. It is only Ms. Jing and your elder son who have yet to arrive."
Listening to these words, Heng Huizhong's eyes flashed with somethings. "Both of them, they have not yet arrived?" He asked with an inquisitive tone. "Is that true?"
"Yes, Chief Executive. There is no sign of them."
'Humph! That Jing Lihua, she must have tried hard to poach my supporters. But in the end, she must have failed. I warned her in the beginning but she didn't listen to my advice. She should have considered my collaboration. She must have been regretting her decision now. Hehe'
Time passed but neither Jing Lihua nor Heng Bingwen appeared. Today was a momentous day, so all the shareholders had appeared a couple of hours before the real event.
Among the people present in the room, unease started to spread. Chaos erupted and people discussed in hushed whispers.
"Where could they be?"
"The day of voting is set by previous rules."
"If they don't appear today, according to the rules, their vote would be cast as neutral.'
Glancing coldly at the chaotic scene, Heng Huizhong thought to himself. 'Could it be that she is too afraid of losing face that she chickened out in the end? After all, she must have learned by now that she can't change the minds of the people in my company. I have my deep roots in everything in Heng Software Limited.' Heng Huizhong laughed inwardly. 'As for my son Heng Bingwen, I never had much hope in him to begin with. Once Jing Lihua has chickened, being how young and immature he is, he naturally would have not to find enough guts to show up and go against me.'
At this point, Heng Huizhong considered himself already victorious. His demeanor, that was very pompous, to begin with, raised a few levels in haughtiness.
Since he was the Chief Executive not long ago and still maintained the aura of a person of prime position, he took it upon himself to stand up and give an explanation of the situation to the people present there.
He coughed lightly drawing all the attention towards himself. Once the room quietened down a bit, he stood up.
"I believe today's business would be settled quicker than we anticipated. It seems like our rivals have admitted defeat even before—"
Before he could fi
nish, suddenly the door of the meeting room was pushed open by several black-clothed elites bodyguards. In full splendor, a woman clothed in formal attired entered. Her steps were slow but certain.
Her features delicate but at the same time refined and having a certain allure in them.
However, the most remarkable feature was of course. the green eyes!
"President Jing..." Someone in the gathering recognized her at once.
After all, prior to this, she had made countless appearances in media. Her face was a familiar figure. The uniqueness of her features and aura couldn't allow her to be lost in a crowd. She would always stand out and would be immediately recognized.
"Wait... Where is Heng Bingwen." Someone else whispered in confusion.
"Isn't he in President Jing faction? Why did he not appear with her?"
"What is the meaning behind this?"
When Jing Lihua had entered, the noises inside the room had instantly died out. The quietness was even more intense than when Heng Huizhong had coughed lightly and purposely attracted people's attention.
On the other hand, when he had entered the meeting room, the quietness that ensued was barely noticeable.
The fact that Jing Lihua had more influence over the people around him that were supposed to be his henchmen, caused a ripple of dissatisfaction to appear in Heng Huizhong heart.
She clearly hadn't interacted with any of his supporters, had she?
At that point, a stream of doubt entered Heng Huizhong's heart. He didn't like his authority being challenged.
"Considering how momentous the day is for our company, some shareholders still treat it trivially and don't find it necessary to appear on time." Heng Huizhong criticized in a roundabout way. In his words, not only he attacked Jing Lihua but also his son Heng Bingwen who was supposed to stand on the election against him.
Jing Lihua glanced at him. A slight smile appeared on her lips. Her eyes flashed with something. 'Of course, this Heng Huizhong is an old veteran in this game How can I underestimate his tactics?' She laughed inwardly and under everyone's eyes, Jing Lihua quietly walked to a side seat. Taking the seat casually, she didn't make any other move.
Everyone was confused.
In their heart, there were countless questions.
The most prominent one was that being a Tang and having no association with the Heng family, how could President Jing actually get twenty percent shares?
Heng Huizhong had tactfully let out the secret that her name was in the will.
From this, people summarized, if Jing Lihua acquired the shares through the will, then that means the Heng family didn't sell her the shares or had some sort of transaction with her.
But why would her name be in the will? Naturally, people didn't know she had the Heng bloodline. The only answer was she must have used some underhand tactic.
This Jing Lihua! She would actually do something like this?!
Because of this supposition, people in the Heng Software Limited held a suppressed resentment towards that calm woman in their heart.
On the other hand, seeing Jing Lihua nonchalant expressions, Heng Huizhong felt strange anxiety creeping into his heart.
Why was it so? The situation was already in his hands. Why was his intuition telling him that something was wrong?
Jing Lihua had no intention to get bothered by Heng Huizhong's roundabout criticism and rebut.
Since it was so, Heng Huizhong decided to go a step further.
