Chapter 171: Climbing.
Ichiro looked at his broken shield.
It will be fixed after he exits Arena because the durability of items in the Arena is lowered.
But, if your items get entirely destroyed, those will be repaired after you leave Arena.
Ichiro threw the shield back to his Inventory and grabbed a sword instead.
[Clarent's Despair EXTREME - Beyond Mythical]
He was holding his two most powerful swords and perhaps two most powerful swords in entire Night's End.
Azura sitting next to him was shaking in nervousness.
'Should I leave the room… My presence might disturb him.' Azura stood up and was about to leave.
But then Ichiro turned his handsome face towards her, ''Where are you going?''
''S-Shouldn't you concentrate on the match?'' Azura went pale.
Ichiro shrugged, and on the screen, Dragon was already attacking, but Ichiro dodged the attacks without even looking at the screen.
Azura dumbly sat down next to him and looked at the unbelievable sight.
Ichiro smiled and turned his gaze back to the screen.
In the game.
Dragon was swinging his sword with great accuracy.
He decided not to do run and hit strategy because King will obviously concentrate on attacking.
He might lose his advantage if he focuses on defense too much.
His every sword strike only barely missed Ichiro's avatar.
Dragon didn't think he was close to hitting— it felt like his opponent could dodge every attack if he wanted to.
'King… King… King… SHOW ME WHAT YOU GOT!' Dragon screamed internally.
Everyone thought that he was the clear victor.
But Dragon felt like he was falling down to an endless pit of darkness.
A bottom was nowhere to be seen, and so was a victory.
Everyone was confused— why was Dragon attacking?
Dragon gritted his teeth and pressed the buttons faster than he had ever done before, but the blade of his sword just couldn't hit his target!
His blade can't reach the legendary existence!
He felt despair— since the start, he knew that King was not playing seriously.
Even when he went all-out, King could have dodged, but in the end, he didn't.
Dragon stopped attacking and retreated a dozen meters.
He looked at his shield and put it on the Inventory.
'I need speed… Speed so my blade can reach him!'
He didn't take a second sword— instead, he put his Durendal in front of him and prepared for the incoming clash.
…
''What is he doing?!'' People exclaimed in the luxurious room.
Spiritless looked confused, ''He has always used his shield— what the hell is he doing?''
Undying sighed, 'I might have underestimated Dragon… He is a smart man.'
No one noticed, but a certain figure had been standing in the middle of the room since the beginning of the match.
[Rosenword - Level 999 - Points: 0 - Rank: 15,467,655,575]
His figure looked transparent and invisible, but if you concentrated on him, you might notice his figure.
No one in the room could, and Rosenword was confident that only one person might be able to notice him.
KingOfGames!
He looked calm while looking at the match.
Not even once he doubted King.
He has watched thousands of Dragon's matches, and he knows what he is thinking.
'Difficult… You feel like you are suffocating… I am sure this is the first time in his life when Dragon isn't having fun playing Night's End.'
Rosenword was confident that Dragon felt like he was suffocating.
Victory is so close, but also so far.
It felt like he crossed two extremely mountains, but then another mountain came, and he had to climb it without climbing equipments.
If he can't climb, he cannot win.
If he falls, he loses.
If he manages to get to the top, he will be the victor.
But currently, Dragon was on the bottom of the mountain looking up.
The top of the mountain was above the clouds, and he already got lightheaded knowing that he had to climb it.
Then his fear of heights appeared, and his instincts screamed not to climb— otherwise, he will die!
Dragon with shaky hands, grabbed the wall and started climbing.
But only two meters up, he felt scared and suffocated.
His instincts scream to stop.
But Dragon gritted his teeth and started climbing.
The road to the top is never easy.
…
Ichiro saw Dragon's imaginary aura changing.
He smiled and put his two swords in front of him.
Dragon took a deep breath and took a long leap forwards.
Ichiro looked towards the sky and saw Dragon's sword glowing in golden color!
[Dragon's Fang Breath!]
He did a large straight slash, which caused a massive straight line in golden color to appear in front of him.
The massive line started flying towards Ichiro with unbelievable speed.
The golden line traveled through the sky, and only in millisecond appeared in front of Ichiro.
Ichiro grinned and did an X with his swords and blocked the incoming golden line!
Everyone thought that Ichiro will be pushed backward, but he didn't move even a little bit!
Ichiro's Excalibur started glowing on white color while his Clairen't Despair started glowing on black.
He grinned and slashed with his swords which caused the golden line to break apart.
But his swords were still glowing.
Dragon widened his eyes in shock— he landed on the ground and started running away.
Ichiro swung the blades around him and did one final slash towards Dragon's running figure.
[DEATH DESTRUCTOR!]
A huge white and black-colored beam of sword energy left his swords.
The beam traveled through the sky and appeared behind Dragon in a millisecond.
Dragon turned around with shock, but then the beam of sword energy pierced his avatar.
''Ohh…'' He exclaimed, he closed his eyes in sadness, and his avatar turned pixels.
He was still climbing the mountain.
He didn't fall or get to the top.
He finished 50% of the journey.
But, he was too slow at climbing, and that was the reason he lost.
Now it's his decision, will he continue climbing and try to get to the top even though he already lost the fight.
Or will he climb back down, since continuing climbing is useless.
Or… Will he simply give up and give up climbing and fall down to his death.
