A clear outline of five fingers could be seen on An Xiaowan’s face.
An Xiaowan staggered backward. Her face was still turned to the side as she brought her hand to cradle her cheek. Then, she felt a rusty metallic taste slowly seeping into her mouth.
Du Yunlan had slapped her.
There was dead silence in the room.
Instinctively, Chen Yinian took a step forward, but then pulled himself back.
For a while, An Xiaowan remained motionless with her head drooped down.
Du Yunlan was calm. She withdrew her hand, coldly looking at An Xiaowan.
Ever since she was a child, everyone had always let her have her way. In An Xiaowan’s memory, there was just that one time, when she broke a photo frame, and her father had slapped her out of anger.
Yet today, Du Yunlan had the nerve to slap her?
After a few moments of deadly silence. An Xiaowan bit her lower lip, and then suddenly burst out laughing.
An Xiaowan looked up, and the intensity of hatred burning in her eyes was able to frighten even a shrewd person like Du Yunlan.
“Thank you. This slap helped me calm down.”
An Xiaowan took a step towards Du Yunlan.
Du Yunlan frowned and took a step backward.
Unexpectedly, she did not do anything to Du Yunlan. But surprisingly, she suddenly made a sharp turn towards An Xue, raised her hand, and rained down two hard slaps on An Xue’s face one after the other.

Two crisp slaps cracked in the air. An Xue lost her senses.
Du Yunlan and Chen Yinian were stunned.
An Xiaowan withdrew her hand and said coldly, “I don’t hit my elders, so, only An Xue could suffer on your behalf.”
After saying that, she turned around, walking steadily in her high heels, she moved her steps towards the door and left.
She still looked so graceful and collected.
Even after exiting the hotel, An Xiaowan continued walking. She kept walking straight on until she reached the corner of the street at a turn, and there she suddenly squatted down.
A dim yellowish-orange beam of light hit the pavement, glowing from the streetlamp creating a color array as if it was sunset. It reflected a long shadow.
Looking at her own shadow, An Xiaowan’s hands could not stop trembling, as if she was shivering with cold.
Her face was still stinging and burning with pain.
It was a reminder of her humiliation earlier.
Suddenly, a Rolls Royce slowly stopped further up by the roadside.
The window of the backseat lowered, revealing a face with unrivaled handsomeness. Those dark and soulful eyes were almost unnoticeable in the dark of the night, as its line of sight fell upon that desolate figure crouched by the street. He kept staring for a while.
There, in the corner, squatting by the roadside, was a lady. She was dressed to the nines, but except her pretty dress, everything else about her exuded an aura of loneliness and helplessness.
Just then, two drunkards passing by almost tripped over An Xiaowan.
The two men held onto each other to stabilize their footing. Then, they took one look at An Xiaowan’s face, and their eyes lit up immediately.
“Holy sh*t! What’s a great beauty like you doing here?”
“We could go on all night long, lady…”
The taller among the two looked at her, suddenly bent down and said in his drunken stupor, “I think she’s drunk. Let’s get this lady home, shall we?”
“Sure, sure.”
Having said that, he extended his arms towards An Xiaowan.

They craned their necks to look behind. There were two tall and well-built men in suits standing behind them.
Behind them was yet another man, even taller and imposing with an extraordinary aura. The man was walking towards them and had a murderous look on his face.
This man had dignified and emperor-like energy around him. His presence alone made the two drunkards break out in cold sweat.
“Don’t tell me this chick belongs to him,”
thought the shorter drunkard.
Coming to that realization, his soul almost flew out of his body in a panic. “Your majesty, have mercy! W-We were only checking to see i-if she was all right…”
An Xiaowan looked up in a daze.
When her eyes met with that of the emotionless and handsome man, she stayed still and dazed.
