“I don’t dare to accept your apology, you can leave now,” Yu Qianying said sarcastically while walking past Qi Chengzhi.
“Mom…” Song Yu noticed her mother walking past without glancing at her. She quickly followed Yu Qianying. Suddenly, her vision was clouded by a veil of darkness followed by a fainting sensation. Song Yu suddenly lost consciousness.

Song Yu was already in the hospital when she woke up. The first thing she noticed when she opened her eyes was the familiar ceiling of the ward of Chutian Hospital. Feeling her hand being held firmly, she looked down and saw Qi Chengzhi sitting at the bedside looking at her while gripping her hand tightly.
She felt warm when her hands were grasped firmly by Qi Chengzhi.
Song Yu glanced at his hands to his face and saw that his eyes were red. She suddenly felt alarmed. With ash whiten face, she touched her abdomen while trembling in fear. She quickly held Qi Chengzhi’s hand as her abdomen contracted tightly and her body trembled intensely. “Chengzhi, the baby…” she asked with trembling lips and frightened stare.
“The baby is fine, don’t worry. The doctor said you are having signs and symptoms of miscarriage due to recent emotional issues and mental stress, but you’re stable now. From now on, please rest well and don’t stress yourself too much,” Qi Chengzhi comforted her.
Song Yu felt as if all her energy has left her. With a sigh of relief, she said, “Thank God, I was so scared.”
Qi Chengzhi hugged Song Yu tightly, tapped her gently on her back and caressed her hair softly, he said, “Don’t worry.”
“The previous checkup was normal but now… there are signs of miscarriage. I’m really scared,” Song Yu said with reddened eyes. She squeezed herself further into Qi Chengzhi’s embrace while sniffing the familiar fragrance on Qi Chengzhi. Then, she raised her head suddenly and asked, “Are you comforting me? Did you say the baby is fine because you’re worried I can’t take it?”
“The baby is really doing well, I won’t lie to you about this.” Qi Chengzhi kissed her on the forehead.
Song Yu was relieved to hear that, but suddenly, she heard a mocking laugh.
Song Yu turned her head, only then did she noticed Song Donglin and Yu Qianying in the room.
“Won’t lie to her? What about the fact regarding our bankruptcy? How dare you say you notified Song Yu as soon as possible? If she knew the truth about our bankruptcy when you first had a crush on her, she wouldn’t have accepted you,” Yu Qianying said coldly.
Qi Chengzhi remained silent.
Song Yu stared at Qi Chengzhi. His usual deep eyes now replaced with bloodshot eyes—his current languish appearance gave Song Yu a dull ache.
Although he was comforting her, he must be worried sick during her period of unconsciousness.
“Mom, can’t you just let it go?” Song Yu was unable to withstand Yu Qianying’s current attitude. Usually, her mom was not this mean, but she did not understand why her mom could not let go of this matter.
“Cannot!” her mom said coldly. “Since you’re well now, then we don’t need to be here.”
Yu Qianying pulled Song Donglin, turned, and opened the door—nearly bumping into someone who was coming in.
“Ah! Xiao Yu, you scared me! How’s Song Yu?” Grandmother Qi asked.
Grandmother Qi was anxious about Song Yu and did not notice Yu Qianying’s expression. With her hands full, she walked into the room quickly.
Behind Grandmother Qi was Grandfather Qi, Qi Zhongliang and Xia Wenna, Qi Zhongxun and Guan Liya, Cheng Dongge and Qi Chengyue, and Qi Chenglin and Qi Youxuan. All the Qi family members were present.
“Hey, you scared the hell out of me! When Chengzhi called me about this, I was terrified! I quickly told others and we all came rushing here,” Grandmother Qi said as she sat on the bedside while grabbing Song Yu’s hand. “What was the matter? Why didn’t you inform us about your pregnancy?”
“We were worried about possible accidents which may turn initial joy into disappointment,” Qi Chengzhi explained.
“Silly boy, at least we can help take care of Song Yu and build up her health if we knew about this,” Grandmother Qi said while putting the insulation pot on the table. “We were pressed for time so we couldn’t ask Aunt Liu to stew a broth. Thus, we went to buy bird’s nest at Dynasty on our way here.”
“But you were previously well. Why the sudden blackout?” Xia Wenna asked after she walked to Grandmother Qi’s side and looked at Song Yu.
Facing all the elders, Song Yu attempted to break free from Qi Chengzhi’s embrace. “Just remain where you are. Do not regard us as outsiders.” Grandmother Qi quickly stopped her.
“It was my parents. They found out the truth about our bankruptcy,” Song Yu mumbled.
Grandmother Qi was shocked! She quickly turned to search for Song Donglin and Yu Qianying, but they left when the Qi family were focusing their attention on Song Yu.
“Song Yu, you…” Xia Wenna seemed to understand what Song Yu had meant.
“She already knew, which was why her parents blamed her too when the truth was uncovered. She fainted because they wanted her to choose between me and her family,” Qi Chengzhi groaned.
Xia Wenna was surprised. She did not think that Song Yu would not blame them for causing the bankruptcy.
“One should be calm during pregnancy. Even mild emotional fluctuations will weaken the body, not to mention this being a huge blow to you. Your mother is just taking a huge beating since she just found out about it, so please don’t overthink this and take good care of yourself.” Grandmother Qi opened the insulation pot, poured the bird’s nest, and passed it to Song Yu.
“Yes, don’t you worry too much. Even I couldn’t fully accept it when I first knew about this, so it must be hard for your parents,” Xia Wenna said.
Qi Chengyue did not think that her guesses were correct.
Even the thought of this truth was ghastly, so imagine how Song Yu’s parents would react.
“Wenna, let’s visit Song Yu’s parents in two days to apologize. Now is not a good time as they are still in a rage and will not be able to listen to what we have to say. Let them calm down as much as possible in two days then we will go,” Grandmother Qi said.
Qi Chenglin quietly tapped Qi Youxuan on his shoulder, and he quickly squeezed through. It was a rare sight that he was not holding snacks and munching.
“Auntie!” Qi Youxuan held the bed frame with his cute little chubby hands, and with his big round eyes he stared at Song Yu, “The baby is a boy or a girl?”
Grandmother Qi gently stroked Qi Youxuan’s hair—which messed his neat hair.
Grandmother Qi—and even Xia Wenna—wanted to ask as well, but due to Song Yu’s family finding out that their bankruptcy was related to the Qi family, asking for her baby’s gender seemed inappropriate at the moment, thus she contained her curiosity.
Qi Youxuan’s question, which was asked out of innocence, seemed to be the most appropriate at the moment.
Watching Qi Youxuan’s angel-like face, Song Yu relaxed. “I forgot to mention just now, it’s a boy.” She smiled.
“Nothing to be worried about. It doesn’t matter if it’s a boy or a girl,” Grandmother Qi said, but deep down she was incredibly happy because now Qi Chengzhi will have a progeny. “There are still a couple of boxes of bird’s nest. I’ll ask the driver to send it to Viewpark Residence later. Bird’s nests are extremely nutritional especially during pregnancy so don’t forget to ask Aunt Yang to stew it for you every day,” Grandmother Qi added.
The very thought of having two cute and chubby grandchildren soon made Grandmother Qi felt extremely blessed. She imagined hugging the small baby while Qi Youxuan sat on her lap and it brought her a great sense of satisfaction.
“By the way, have you thought of a name for the baby yet?” Grandmother Qi asked. It felt like she was desperate and almost wanted the baby to come out of Song Yu’s womb now.
“Not yet. We just found out that the baby’s a boy today,” Qi Chengzhi said.
Grandmother Qi noticed that both of them did not appear to be very joyful. “Song Yu, don’t you worry about your parents. I’ll settle it,” She said and sighed.
Song Yu was discharged from the hospital because her condition has improved, and Qi Chengzhi helped her to apply for leave so that she can rest well at home.
Song Yu’s pregnancy was a joyous event that should have prompted celebration, but with recent events involving her family’s bankruptcy, it seemed unfitting for a jollification. Besides, Song Yu would not be in the mood for it and preferred peace at the moment, thus, each of Qi family went on their separate ways back home.

Qi Chengzhi and Song Yu went back to Viewpark Residence. Aunt Yang became curious when she saw that Song Yu’s eyes were reddened upon returning home.
She saw Qi Chengzhi holding Song Yu with great care, and they did not seem to be in an argument too. It seemed peculiar.
Both of them went into their room where Qi Chengzhi accompanied Song Yu and sat on the bed. Song Yu then squeezed herself into Qi Chengzhi’s embrace and wrapped her arms around his waist.
Qi Chengzhi lowered his gaze slightly, hugged her softly, and kissed her on her head. “Do you blame me?” His mellow voice was now deep and hoarse.
Song Yu shook her head, but she heard Qi Chengzhi sigh. “It was all my fault, or else things wouldn’t become this messy.”
“I’ve never blamed you,” Song Yu spoke softly. “If you didn’t do it then we wouldn’t be together. I just don’t know when my parents will forgive us for this.”
“I am truly sorry,” Qi Chengzhi said with a husky voice and embraced her tightly.
Song Yu shook her head. The memory of Qi Chengzhi kneeling today was heart-wrenching to her.
She looked down at Qi Chengzhi’s legs, slowly putting her hands on his knee cap before saying, “Please do not do that again.”
Qi Chengzhi knew what she meant. “I owe you. If I can earn their forgiveness by kneeling, I will do it forever,” he groaned with a croaky voice.
Song Yu lifted her head and stared at his handsome face—his eyes were not bloodshot anymore but the capillaries were still visible on his sclera. She held his face with both hands. Her thumbs were caressing his chin and lips, feeling his fine and rough beard stubble. She kissed softly along the curvature of his chin and finally to his thin, warm lips.
“I will not leave you,” Song Yu spoke softly.
“I know.” Qi Chengzhi smiled ever so slightly, and his eyes were warm.
Song Yu embraced him firmly again, resting her face close to his chest. “It’s natural for them to be angry. I don’t care how long it takes but once they see our utmost sincerity, they will forgive us.” Qi Chengzhi stroked her hair.
“Furthermore, they will have a grandson soon. If they still choose not to forgive us, I’ll let their grandson coax them into letting this matter go,” Song Yu said and nodded.
Qi Chengzhi was amazed. He kissed her on the canthus softly and chuckled. “You became smarter after following me all these while.”
“…” Song Yu could not argue, or else she would be scolding herself too. “Won’t you feel ashamed for your self-assertion?”
Qi Chengzhi grinned. He lied down on the bed and let Song Yu leaned over him, his hands caressing her hair softly.
“But it’s good that my parents know about this. They may be in rage now but at least nobody can threaten us with this matter since those who should know are aware of what happened.” Song Yu became weary, rested her eyes while leaning over Qi Chengzhi.
Qi Chengzhi blinked. He did not forget that Yu Qianying once mentioned Yu Keyao’s name.
Slowly patting her back, he waited until Song Yu was breathing evenly and in deep sleep. He looked down and saw Song Yu lying down on his chest, sleeping peacefully like a child who trusted him wholly—so much so that those long eyelashes did not even quiver one bit.
Qi Chengzhi rested her on the bed slowly and gently, his gaze stopping on her elegant face. Normally she would not put on any makeup unless there was a big occasion, and her current fairness made her appealing like a blooming hibiscus.
His gaze was soft and gentle like the morning sunlight attempting to melt her under his stare. Qi Chengzhi bent down and kissed her on the cheek and her lips softly. He then stood up and walked out of the room at a snail’s pace.
Qi Chengzhi took out his cellphone and dialed. “What’s the situation at Yu Zidong’s company now?”

Grandmother Qi figured Yu Qianying probably had calmed down enough in these two days, so she dragged Xia Wenna and went to visit the Song family on Thursday.
When the doorbell rang, Yu Qianying had not calmed down as she still felt frustrated whenever she thought about it—especially when her daughter was still living under the same roof with the culprit who dismantled their family, and even conceived a baby. Her rage grew even bigger, especially when they did not even attempt to come and apologize in these few days.
She quickly opened the door and saw Grandmother Qi and Xia Wenna at the doorstep, with Xia Wenna’s hands filled with gifts. This triggered her memory whereby Grandmother Qi addressed her as a relative by marriage when Song Yu and Qi Chengzhi were together initially.
“Ah, Xiao Yu!” Grandmother Qi smiled. This time she did not hurry into her house regardless of the consequences like last time. “Are you available now?” she asked hesitantly.
Yu Qianying never thought that Grandmother Qi would go visit herself. Although the atmosphere seemed a little awkward, she must be polite to the elderly, so she moved aside and let them enter. “There is no need for gifts,” she said coldly after glancing at the gifts Xia Wenna was holding.
When Yu Qianying was at home these past two days, she always recalled the time when the Song family faced bankruptcy. She knew that remembrance served no purpose now, and it was too late for resentment as there was no use crying over spilled milk, but she could not help it.
Yu Qianying looked at Xia Wenna, recalling the moment when Qi Chengzhi forced the Song family to face bankruptcy in the first place, but even after dissolution of engagement, the Qi family pretended as if nothing happened, not even the slightest sense of guilt on their doing, so it was expected that the Song family will not get any support from the Qi family afterward.
Xia Wenna did not show any signs of embarrassment even after seven years. Even during meals, she appeared as if everything was all right. If she apologized, it would be for the lack of support they should have that time.
Xia Wenna froze in place and had no idea how to proceed, so she looked at Grandmother Qi for help, in which she responded, “Xiao Yu, let us discuss once we are inside, okay?”
She winked at Xia Wenna, who hurried to the kitchen and placed the gifts.
All of them then walked into the living room. Xia Wenna explained, “Qianying, I know you were thinking that we turned our backs on you when the bankruptcy your family faced was prompted by my son—that it was the Qi family who made you suffer. To be very honest, I didn’t know it was all Chengzhi’s own doing. I had doubts when Chengzhi was in a relationship with Song Yu despite the fact that she was engaged to Chengji before this, so I went to talk to Chengzhi and he showed me the documents and admitted that he brought about your family’s bankruptcy just so he can be with Song Yu. I only realized at that moment.”
Yu Qianying raised her eyebrows, she did not figure that the Qi family opposed at first.
“I know Chengzhi acted on his wilfulness.” Xia Wenna felt uneasy.
“It’s not just willful. This is the core of our family! He tore apart the fundamentals of our family! The whole Song family, Donglin’s brothers and sisters, were relying on the company! You were saying he simply destroyed a big company just because of his act of willfulness? The company costs Donglin half of his life!” Yu Qianying answered with red and moist eyes.
“I know, mistakes were made, and the outcomes were disastrous. No amount of apologies can offset the damages done to the Song family, and not just the financial issue,” Xia Wenna spoke with a congested nose. “I felt remorse for a long time when I knew Chengzhi went to such extremes just so he can marry Song Yu. Chengzhi called me saying that he did not agree to the initial engagement between Song Yu and Chengji. He didn’t mention that he had a crush on her, although I wouldn’t believe it even if he did tell me. Song Yu was sixteen years old at that time. She was just a child compared to Chengzhi. I just couldn’t believe Chengzhi had a crush on a child. Anyway, I rejected him straight away without thinking much about it, and I didn’t give him any room for arguments.”
Tears started to well up in Xia Wenna’s eyes, and she inhaled deeply to clear up the nasal congestion. “There were multiple occasions when I thought what if we didn’t agree to Chengji and Song Yu’s engagement, or if I respected Chengzhi’s judgment when he called me at that time, if we… respected our children’s standpoint, things wouldn’t be the same. To sum it up, I owe you an apology. Qianying, we are relatives by marriage now, and we are not the same as other normal relatives by marriage. We’ve known each other since young and have grown so close. I regarded you as a family member and not simply an in-law’s family when we became relatives by marriage. After all these years, our mindset is different now. We are not bothered by any issues regarding fortunes, identities or status. Our family will not stand by and do nothing when you face troubles.”
“That’s right, Grandfather Qi and I will not permit even if they dare to do so,” Grandmother Qi announced grimly.
“Qianying, can you forgive them for their sake? They are just children who made a mistake. Plus, they are in deep love with each other. We are a family. We should support each other, and we should hold on together in good and bad times. I assure you this will not happen again. Moreover, Chengzhi knew he was in the wrong, and he cares for Song Yu too. He will not attempt anything that may potentially harm her and your family. His initial method was too extreme but maybe he couldn’t help it because he loves Song Yu too much. Besides, he wouldn’t know how to prevent her from marrying another man. One who loves Song Yu this much will not do anything that would hurt you, and he will not allow anyone to hurt you in the slightest bit. That child… Chengzhi always had trouble expressing his emotions. He may appear indifferent but deep down he is enthusiastic. He protects what he firmly believes in. Qianying, can you give this bosom friend a chance and forgive us, and end their suffering?” Wenna plead.
“So now that you’ve said it like that, it’s my fault?” Yu Qianying said aggrievedly.

At one time, Qi Chengzhi and Song Yu accompanied Qi Youjin to participate in parent-child bonding activities at his kindergarten. One of the activities was a straw game where the father must transfer the straw between the mother’s lips to the child, and once the child got the straw in the mouth, he will then suck one ping pong ball from the container using the straw and transfer it into his bowl. The group who took the least amount of time wins.
Qi Chengzhi saw the straw in Song Yu’s mouth, her soft, pinkish lips puckered high and appeared seductive. He squinted, ignored the straw and kissed her. Naturally, the straw fell to the ground.
Qi Youjin’s covered his face with his cute chubby hands, feeling embarrassed, and inevitably his group achieved the last place in the activity.
