Chapter 140: Kindest of Process
>
It was not a powerful Nature, but was very unique. It was a bit vague, but it allowed the user to see the limited future.
-When the user’s life is in danger, it shows the possible deaths that user can face.
It could certainly determine one’s fortune as it allowed one to see the various images of the possible future.
The only con was that the owner of the Nature needed to face death in order to see the future.
If the user was on the verge of death, how would knowing the possible ways even help?
This was the second Nature that Bill did not even plan to acquire that became helpful in his last moments.
“I won’t…”
“I know what you are worried about.”
Before Dohyuk could speak, Bill spoke first. “You are worried about his mind. He’s a young boy. You don’t want him to kill, even if its to finish me and put me out of my misery.”
“…Yeah.” Dohyuk nodded.
Kim Sunghyun, the Heartdigger. The one who had the power to steal anyone’s Nature by pulling out a heart.
Dohyuk didn’t intend to have him kill zero enemies, but pulling Bill’s heart didn’t have anything to do with that right now. Bill wasn’t a person for Sunghyun to hate and force him to pull the heart…
“It’s different from what you think. I saw it with my own eyes.”
“You saw?”
“The boy was not afraid to kill me. It wasn’t a face that hated to kill.”
“But even then…”
“Do you kill because you enjoy it?”
“…”
“I know what you are worried about.”
Bill said the same exact words again.
“Trust me. Killing isn’t the same. In this world, The boy and you are killing for everyone else’s sake. That alone will not break people. It will make you stronger. And…”
Bill coughed, “…You have no right to stop it from happening. It is violence to stop someone from overcoming something.”
“That sounds…”
“Cliche. I thought so too.”
Dohyuk narrowed his eyes, and saw that Bill was smiling.
“It’s what you told me once.”
…
Sunghyun seemed calm, or he was trying to stay calm, to be more precise.
“Okay. I will do it.”
“Thank you.”
Sunghyun smiled, but it looked like he was burdened by his task, especially the gravity of it.
“I… am not too used to it. I might hurt you. If that happens…”
Sunghyun was speaking to Bill.
“That’s okay,” he answered. “I won’t feel any pain from my skin tearing apart. You can think of it as putting me out of misery. You do your job.”
“I understand.” Sunghyun nodded at turned to Dohyuk. He nodded in response and the boy closed his eyes. His Nature began to wrap himself with a faint purple light.
“…”
The boy lifted his hand with a dazed look. There was blade-like energy surrounding his hand and it pierced down into Bill’s chest.
“…Maybe.”
Bill opened his mouth.
“It might not be the last time we meet. If he turns it back again…”
“Then I won’t have it end it like this next time. I will not let you die.”
“Haha.” Bill laughed. “You won’t remember anything.”
“Yeah, I’ll try it anyway.”
“…”
And with the smile, Bill closed his eyes. The light that surrounded Sunghyun grew brighter in intensity. And then…
“…Hah.”
With a sigh of relief, his hand was pulled out. There was no blood. Instead, there was a fist-sized marble on top of his palm.
“N-now… we need some equipment to hold this in place.”
Dohyuk turned. There was a bag full of equipment that Heeyun had brought, so he pulled out a pair of sandals from it. When Sunghyun placed the marble on the sandal, it disappeared inside.
Dohyuk then saw the sandals acquire a new word.
-Skill: Kindest Process(Ga.-)
“Digest.”
With that, Cactus Bill’s Nature was now Dohyuk’s. Dohyuk then recovered after digesting the equipment. The reason why he waited to recover was so he did not waste any bit of equipment that absorbed Bill’s Nature.
Dohyuk then turned to Sunghyun.
“He… he’s dead now, right?” Sunghyun was now realizing that he had killed someone.
“Yes.”
Dohyuk then kneeled and placed his hand on Sungyun’s hand.
“You helped him like he wanted.”
“…”
“Thank you.”
“It’s not something to be thanked for.”
“Yes, it is.” Dohyuk firmly stated. “You have done an incredible thing. I won’t lie, it will be hard for you coming future. There will be more instances you will have to do this. But when you do it again… every time you do… think of the good you have done for other people. Think of what your determination has done for you.”
“…”
“If you feel burdened, feel free to come to me. I also faced it not too long ago.”
“…Yes.” Sunghyun nodded.
“Can you take care of his body? I want to give him a proper funeral at least. Let’s think after we move him into the city.”
“I can move him alone. Don’t worry.”
Sunghyun then picked up Bill’s body and walked. Dohyuk then turned toward Heeyun who had been watching in silence.
“Why the long face?”
“…Oh, nothing.”
Heeyun brushed away from her envious look toward Sunghyun and picked up the bag.
“He’s only a boy and he’s very trustworthy.”
“You’re three years older than him.”
“You’re only a few years older than me, you know.”
“Hmm.”
“Yeah. But then…”
Heeyun then turned to Giwon who was crouching in the distance.
“What is he looking at? Isn’t that the body you killed earlier?”
“Not only that.”
“…”
When they walked up to Giwon, Heeyun then knew why Giwon was there. She realized she was wrong when she assumed that Dohyuk had become one again.
“Gyagh!”
With a sound that didn’t even sound like a scream, Heeyun fainted.
“Ooh.” Giwon smiled, “It was hard for me to see also.”
“I’m sorry.”
With his apology, Dohyuk picked up a few items from the bag on the ground and placed them in ‘his’ hand. After using Digest, he finally combined himself back into one.
“I had more important things to focus on.”
Even if it was almost dead, there was a possibility that something might occur because of it — the trace of Mayhab, or the Godly Item of this region.
Its power had been used up while fighting against Dohyuk, but the item was still intact.
>
It was one rank lower than Grava’s orb that Dohyuk had gotten before. It didn’t mean it was weak, but Dohyuk knew what brought about the difference in rank.
“I see.”
Dohyuk then placed his hand on the metal.

He used his friend’s gift.
