Chapter 333 - Elemental Spirit Beast! - Part 3
Kenneth kept an eye on the movement of the Crab and the young boy riding on it. They were about to reach the place where the Water Elemental Spirit Beast was floating above the river surface.
Kenneth didn't make a move to stop them because he expected that the Spirit Beast would deal with them by itself. Maybe he could use that chance to capture the Spirit Beast.
Alex finally saw the body of the Water Elemental Beast with its own eyes. The spirit beast looked like a human; to be exact, its shape was that of a small ten or eleven-year-old child. It had no gender, and its whole body was transparent as it was made purely out of water.
Much like Plum, the only difference between the two was that the Water Elemental Spirit Beast had an androgynous human figure while Plum was just a round ball.
It would be tough for anyone to distinguish the Spirit Beast apart from the water with the naked eye. If Alex did not have Spiritual Sense, he would never have been able to find it, even if it swam past in front of his eyes. As for how that man clad in a green robe followed the Water Elemental Spirit Beast, Alex only had some guesses, but he was not sure.
The Water Elemental Spirit Beast also turned to look at Alex when it saw him. It appeared confused.
Alex was still running his bloodline, and the spirit beast seems to sense it too.
But it hesitated to approach Alex and stayed where it was.
"Alex, make a small cut on your thumb and press your palm on its body. Make it quick; the Elemental Master is gathering his Qi to attack you at any moment." The heavenly spirit said with a tone of urgency.
She was right; that expert flying in the air was always keeping his eyes on him, and when he saw no attack on him by the Elemental Spirit Beast, cyan light around him intensified, especially in the area around his hand.
Alex bit his thumb and extended his palm outwards to touch the Spirit Beast, but his action may have scared the Spirit Beast as it created a water wall between them. Alex didn't know whether he should laugh or cry because he found a gap in the water wall through which the Spirit beast was peeking at him. To be more precise, it was looking at the blood flowing down his thumb.
"Don't worry; I won't hurt you. Let's become friends, then that guy won't be able to bother you anymore. If you want, we can beat him down in the future after becoming stronger together. How about that?" Alex tried talking with the Spirit Beas to let it lower its guard. And it seemed his action brought fruit as the water wall between fell down... halfway.
Kenneth couldn't hear what Alex had just said to the Elemental Spirit Beast, but when it saw how Spirit Beast was acting and letting the guy touch it, he became nervous, anxious, and at the same time, a little bit angry.
"You bastard, back off right now if you don't want to die." Kenneth roared, causing the Water Elemental Spirit Beast to look up at him in guard.
'Chance' Alex immediately sent Kraby back to the Demon Beast Space as he jumped over the water wall to touch the Spirit Beast whose attention to that man above.
Spirit Beast contracting techniques are rare, and they are only in the hands of a few powerful forces. No one can forcefully make a contract with a Spirit Beast and without the necessary contracting methods. Such a Technique is not needed on occasion when the Spirit Beast is the initiator of the Contract, a situation that is said to be a thing of legend. But such a situation had happened with Alex when he met Plum.
Unfortunately, Alex's palm passed right through the Elemental Spirit Beast's water body without any resistance.
"Fuck" Alex cursed under his breath. He did not expect such a situation. He only followed the Heavenly Spirit's instruction and never thought that he wouldn't be able to touch the elemental body of the Spirit Beast.
But in the time frame that Alex's hand went through the Elemental Spirit Beast, the blood on his thumb slid off and stayed inside the water body of the Spirit Beast.
"Plum~!"
Suddenly, Plum covering his head detached itself on its own; it expanded in size and enveloped both Alex and the Elemental Spirit Beast's water body inside of it.
"It's working," the Elemental Spirit Beast was now caged inside the Plum's body, and it couldn't get out. Nor did it kept on trying to get out; instead, the Elemental Spirit Beast head turned one-eighty degrees. It now stared at Alex curiously with its translucent blue eyes.
Splash!
Plum fell into the river and got carried away by the raging river. Just as it was going get submerged inside the river, a green light shined in the air above it. It was a colossal blade-edge made purely out of wind element. Kenneth, who's eyes were now red in anger, had conjured it. He did not want to let someone take away the elemental Spirit Beast right under his nose. Not to mention, when he saw Plum, Kenneth immediately knew it was also a Spirit Beast. The thief already had a Spirit Beast on him.
"You bastard, stop right now!" Kenneth immediately controlled the huge blade-edge and made it fall towards the river.
Goosebumps appeared all over Alex's body. He saw everything outside Plums body with his Spiritual Sense. The power of the Bladedge conjured by that man was enough to split him in half if he took it head-on with just the defense of his Silver Body. Not to mention, it was not an all-out attack by the Early-stage Elemental Master Cultivator.
It seems Kenneth still feared his attack would obliterate the Elemental Spirit Beast together with the thief, so he held back some of his powers at the end. Alex felt a slight tremor in his soul. There was a difference in the cultivation base between them by a whole realm.
Therefore it was normal for Alex to feel some pressure. Fortunately, he had a powerful soul, which allowed him to shield most of the Cultivation pressure bombarded on him by the green-robed man.
Alex did not panic. Instead, it was the opposite as a trace of joy emerged within his eyes. It's because the Water Elemental Spirit Beast accepted to become his companion.
The illusionary image of the Elemental Beast appeared inside his soul space. The contract process has been initiated.
"Pinng!"
The water around Plum moved. It carried Plum deeper into the river and away from the area where that huge blade-edge was going to fall.
Shing!
The sharpness of the wind element and that of the blade-edge quickly cut through the river water and penetrated all the way to the ground, creating a substantial gap in the river.
The attack of the Elemental Master Realm cultivator was so strong it literally split the flowing river in half. Even though the area was immensely small compared to the whole river and the gap only stayed there for less than a second, it was quite a terrifying power.
If Kenneth had attacked the defense wall of a City, he might have easily created a wide hole in it with that one attack. The protective formation on the defensive wall would not be enough to stop it unless it is of higher grade and capable of preventing cultivators' attacks like Kenneth.
Kenneth rushed down and hovered just above the surface of the river. He was searching for them, but it was night, and the river was dark as an abyss. He also couldn't sense anyone's aura.
But no matter how many times he flew in that area and waited there, Kenneth saw no sign of the Water Elemental Spirit Beast or the thief.
Kenneth fished out a bog from his robe. It was a Demon Beast pouch, a medium used to house his contracted Demon Beast pet.
Kenneth taped lightly on its cover, and the runic formation on the pouch shone with light.
A bright light flew out of the pouch's mouth and stopped in front of Kenneth before it transformed into a fire blue Butterfly.
"Can you still sense the location of the Spirit Beast?" Kenneth transmitted his question through their soul connection to the Fire Blue Butterfly, his Demon Beast pet.
But the reply transmitted by the Fire Blue Butterfly caused Kenneth's face to convulse. His body shook visibly, but he soon calmed himself or at least tried as he took in deep breath repeatedly.
"Go and search around this place properly. maybe, you could pick up its scent again." Kenneth ordered his unique Demon Beast pet.
The Butterfly flew above the river's surface, but even after half an hour, there was no result.
The scent that the Butterfly had left on the Water Elemental Spirit Beast before on the order of Kenneth had vanished entirely.
