Chapter 329 - Prisoner Of War! - Part 5
In that instant, which the enemy cavalrymen tore through all the way to the back of their cavalrymen, the Armen Kingdom's soldiers face also paled. No one could believe the sight they saw at all.
"Fuck! Is... Is that Commander Nexon in his hand?... "Clenching his fists tightly, the Vice commander swiftly came to a realization. Their cavalrymen lost, their Commander lost in just one bout with the enemy.
While the Vice commander was still processing all of this, Marco had circled around the enemy cavalrymen who were now in a mess, gradually slowing down.
Marco was now rushing back to his camp with the enemy commander tightly held in his hand. His men were divided into two groups bypassing around the confused cavalrymen and then regrouping back again midway as they rushed towards their own camp.
With the trophy in Marco's hand, there was no need to completely decimate the enemy cavalrymen as that would only incur casualty on his side. Even in that one round of collision, seven puppets were left severely injured, and while some had sight injuries on their shoulders, leg, or arms.
Thankfully no one had their brains crushed; they can be repaired as long as Alex supplies them with Faith and Currency points.
"Go! Go! Don't let the enemy take away our Commander. Chase behind them. Quick you fools!" the bellowing voice of the Vice commander resounded on the battlefield. The chaotic, disoriented, and confused cavalrymen up ahead finally spurred their horses after getting an exact order from a higher up. With red eyes, they chased behind the enemy.
The vice Commander, the experts from the prominent families, and the soldiers all moved. Though the footsoldiers were quickly left behind by the fellow soldiers riding on mounts, they still ran after them, leaving their camp and war supplies behind, weakly guarded as that was the order.
Currently, the rescue of their Commander was the main priority.
Commander Nexon remained conscious, his eyes staring wide-eyed at Marco; the fear was displayed in them. He wanted to escape, but no matter how many times he tried, Nexon couldn't instill his Qi or move a muscle in his body.
The only thing he could move was his eyes. Marco seemed to sense Nexon's gaze on him, so he looked down.
After seeing the horror in Nexon's eyes, a smile formed on Marco's eyes.
"You should better go to sleep, or the spectacle you will see now won't be pleasant to watch."
Nexon appeared confused, but Marco didn't bother to explain to him at all. He looked into his eyes and made him fall into an illusion. In there, Commander Nexon is alright, and everything that happened tonight just turned out to be a bad dream.
With such proximity and physical contact, Alex found that the effectiveness of his bloodline ability increasing tremendously.
Nexon wasn't forming resistance at all. He seemed to enter an endless dream where he achieved victory after victory in his military career before he ultimately became a powerful King. This could also be because Nexon wasn't able to run his Qi to form a defense.
'I need to research this later.' Alex considered in his mind.
Marco lifted his head and ordered to the puppet nearest to him, "Tell them to move as the plan and extinguish their torches now,"
Captain Oslo, Lesley, and the rest of the soldiers looked at General Marco and the enemy army, pursuing them with astonished eyes. They never thought it would be this easy to capture the enemy commander for Marco and the team he had brought with him.
"Captains, its time, move to the side immediately as I have explained it to you all." A close aide of Marco conveyed the General's order to them.
The vice commander of the Armen forces had somehow caught up midway to the Armen Calvalry that were, in turn, trying to catch up with the enemy's back desperately.
'Shit, we won't be able to catch up to them in time.' The vice commander thought. He thought the enemy soldiers would block them after Marco gets behind the safety of his army. It would get challenging for the Armen soldiers to get their Commander back from the enemy's hands when that happens.
And as he had thought, the enemy troops separated into two parts. They moved to either side, giving way to Marco and the cavalrymen behind him to back, but to the surprise of the Vice commander and his men, the enemy troops did not fill that gap up to block them from pursuing Marco.
In fact, they still were moving to the left and right direction, creating more space in between them. They also extinguished most of the torches, making the area suddenly turn dark.
The vice commander hesitated to pursue behind Marco as he smelled a grand conspiracy. But the apprehension of losing Commander Nexon for good made him grit his teeth and decided against his instinct. He shouted, "Don't slow down; we can't let them get away."
"This is a good opportunity!" Marco's eyes lit up as he saw the enemy cavalrymen still chasing after them.
Marco looked in front and scanned the ground with his Spiritual Sense. This was also the moment when his mind synchronized with his puppets.
'Hehe, its gonna get a little messy.' Marco thought as he controlled his horse to move irregularly instead of running straight. The puppets followed his movements and also spread a little. Because it was dark, their activity went unnoticed by the Armen Cavalrymen chasing them.
'...3...2...1... Now!' Marco counted in his mind before shouting in his mind.
Rumble!
The ground in front of Armen Cavalrymen shook before numerous earthen wall shot out from the floor irregularly.
These unexpected earthen walls had caught Vice Commander and his men by surprise. But the walls were one and a meter tall; their steeds could quickly jump over them.
'Do they plan to slow us down with these hurdles?' The vice commander thought but to his horror, the first few of his men made their mounts jump over the walls; they vanished from his view.
