Chapter 330 - Prisoners Of War! - Part 6
Bang!
Neighhh!
"Shit!... There's a pit behind each wall." shouted a soldier who could barely maneuver his horse from the side of the earthen wall to see the deep pit behind it and his fellow comrades fallen in it. More of the warhorses followed into jumping into the hole as the momentum they were coming at didn't give them the chance to stop. Only the ones that were riding at the outer edge had the opportunity to go around the wall.
Bang!
Some of the horses straightaway collided with the wall, and then like a domino effect, the cavalrymen behind the first unfortunate ones had the same ending.
"Stop! Stop! It's a trap." Amidst the chaos, the Vice commander bellowed. However, it was already too late. Almost fifty men fell into those pits, and some eighty to ninety cavalrymen collided into each other.
"Fuck!..." The vice commander stood up on his moving warhorse and jumped high in the air so that he doesn't get dragged into the mess with his mount.
While in the air, he was shocked to see the extent of the crash. Fortunately, the soldiers that were behind him came to a halt as they were given enough time, avoiding themselves from adding to the mess.
The Armen footsoldiers that were left behind also arrived at the scene of the crash without being stopped. Marco had commanded his soldiers to create a significant path in between to let the enemy soldiers run in without making them face each other head-on.
By the time the Armen Vice commander helped his soldiers to get back into formation, their whole army was already encircled from all sides.
Marco also came turned his horse and came back with his cavalrymen.
"Drop your weapons if you don't want to die!" Marco's voice resounded throughout the battlefield.
'Dream on!' The vice commander thought in his mind but seeing that they were in a perilous situation, he tried to negotiate with the enemy.
"Listen, Commander Macro, you win. Please give us our commander back. We will retreat from the border..."
"It's too late for that. Now there is no going back; either you order your men to drop their weapons and properly surrender without inciting further bloodshed, or I won't bat an eyelid from making this place the mass grave for you all." Marco sneered before he gave out the last warning. Believing that they will go back and not make any retaliation was a fool's dream.
The Vice commander choose not to answer back, or maybe his silence was the answer, he refused to surrender.
Saving the commander of the Armen Kingdom was of paramount importance, but surrendering with all the army would be a stupid decision. But just as he wanted to give out the order to his men to break out of the encirclement and rush back, they heard a loud explosion, and right after that, a roar of a Demon Beast resounded from the north direction.
"Tha... That's..." The vice commander was tongue-tied when he saw the big fiery explosion rising from their camp. Also, in the northern direction, beyond the lake, the roar of a powerful Demon Beast resounded in their ears. The Armen soldiers trying to take over the wall between the lake and river fired an arrow in the air that burst into a purple light; it was a distress signal. The Armen soldiers fired the same arrow from the direction of the camp.
Marco smiled and said to the Vice Commander, who was sweating buckets by now, "My men have destroyed whatever war supplies you had stored in your camp, and there, by the lake, is my cute pet feasting on your soldiers. He will be arriving here shortly. So give up, there's no way you and the army can force your way out of here, surrender now, and I won't hurt anyone. When your King sends someone to pay the ransom, we will release you all..." Marco stopped as a cold glint flashed in his eyes, and he continued, "... I hope you will make a wise choice, or you will have the same fate as your commander in my hand here."
Marco lifted Nexon with his hand, showing his face to the Vice commander and his soldiers.
"Heeeheehe..." Nexon's facial expression was that of a person retardedly laughing to himself in his dream.
"Oman, we... we should do as he says, for now, our King will think of a way to get us back." one of the experts from the big family said to the vice commander upon seeing the situation ultimately going out of their hands.
The Vice commander Oman looked hesitant.
"Yes, Vice commander Oman, we may be able to get away by ourselves if use all our force but don't forget there are disciples of our families in here and the Armen militia which can't possibly outrun the enemy cavalrymen. We lost too many people today. Let's... surrender for now."
Oman looked back and saw that most of his men and the experts of the big family had given entirely upon their will to fight or escape. Fear was completely plastered on their faces. Though it would be humiliating to be taken as a prisoner, given the circumstances, the one that would need to take all the blame would have to be him and Commander Nexon.
Oman sighed deeply to himself; he knew there was no way out now.
With great difficulty, he shouted, "Men... throw away our weapons."
Clank...Clink Clank...
Though some soldiers and a few members of the big family were unwilling to lower their heads to the enemy and fight till death but seeing that even the vice commander had given up, they all threw away their weapons.
Hong!
Captain Oslo, Lesley, and Horf raised their weapons in the air cheered when they saw the enemy surrendering. Their soldiers also followed them too and cheered while hailing Commander Marco and King Danny.
"Pero..." Alex called his puppet that has the same status and strength as Sparrow.
"Yes, my Lord,"
"Go and round them up. I will take care of their experts so that they don't take any stupid action."
"As you wish, my lord. Ha!" Pero spurred his horse to arrange while Marco walked his horse to near the place where the Vice commander Oman stood depressed.
Even when they were close, Oman didn't rush out to attack Marco and rescue Commander Nexon from his hands. That's because he knew it would only result in his death. The gap in their strength became more apparent to Oman now that they were standing close.
"Good choice, Mr. Oman. Here, ingest this pill and then follow my soldier to our camp." Marco threw a pill at Oman and the experts standing behind him. They recognized the pill and its effect on suppressing their Qi. Though very unwilling, they still ate the pill in front of Marco before they were taken away by the elite cavalrymen of the enemy army.
"Who are you?" Oman asked Marco.
"Didn't you listen to my introduction?"
"No, that's not what I'm asking. You can't be a native of this region. I know that for sure. A person with your capability cannot remain unknown. What is your... King's origin?"
Marco smiled before he replied, "Join my side, and then maybe I will tell you."
"That's impossible."
"We will see about that. Let's go now."
"What about my men at the camp? They..."
"My men will capture some of them, and a few will be allowed to run away. After all, I need some messengers to inform your King about his army's defeat. As for the soldiers beside the lake, my men will hold off my pet so that he won't eat all of them. Will that suffice?"
Oman looked visibly relieved, hearing that. Not about his men surviving but that Marco will allow some of his men to escape and pass on the news of their defeat to the King or the Marshall of the Armen Kingdom.
This was how Alex dealt with one of the three fronts that the Armen Kingdom has opened on the border.
Now, after Mary arrives, she can take charge of the defense in this place.
As for himself, he would, of course, go ahead and take back the city that initially belonged to the Sylvia Kingdom.
"Pero, there's still time left, head with the others towards the Hemforth city at full speed. I will meet you there, alright." Marco said to his puppet after making all the arrangements for taking the captured soldiers back to the nearby city, previously owned by Baron Regan.
Pero nodded his head in full obedience.
