Chapter 1616: By Force, Wits, or Picking Up!

“This Demon-Killing Palace is actually a super huge spatial divine item!”
A white light flashed as Jiang Yi and company appeared in a dense forest. Jiang Yi casually took a few looks as his guessing was confirmed. Since this entire place was designed by the Demon-Killing Supreme Thearch, the treasures would naturally not be laid out nicely in rooms for people to take them at whim.
“Divine senses don’t work.”
Qi Qingchen observed for a while as she silently nodded. It seemed that it wasn’t that easy to obtain treasures here; it depended either on luck or strength.
“Poison Spirit!”
Jiang Yi shouted as Poison Spirit transformed in a streak of white light and started to scout. Jiang Yi, however, remained in position as he looked at the vast sky overhead. He seemed to be thinking of something as he asked, “Qingchen, how many levels are there here?”
“Not sure!”
Qi Qingchen shook her head and said, “However, there should at least be two levels. No one has gone to the third before, and I am not certain if there actually is one.”
“Two levels?”
Jiang Yi’s eyes squinted as he sighed and asked, “Have the Demon-Killing Sword and Demon-Killing Armor been taken yet?”
“Not yet.” Qi Qingchen replied very surely. She said, “Actually, each Earth Domain clan has people in the Heaven Domain, and that’s how information from the Heaven Domain trickles back to us. If someone had gotten the Demon-Killing Sword and Demon-Killing Armor, that news would have long spread throughout the Heaven Domain.”
“Then, let’s go.”
Jiang Yi waved as he started to walk ahead. Qi Qingchen obediently followed him. After walking a few steps, Qi Qingchen’s expression changed slightly; she realized something.
It seemed as if their relationship had changed? Previously, Jiang Yi followed behind her; now, she was following behind Jiang Yi. Furthermore, she seemed to follow along with whatever Jiang Yi said without thinking much.
Seeing Jiang Yi’s upright figure, Qi Qingchen’s eyes suddenly grew a little dazed. She wasn’t a dainty and subservient young lady; she—in fact—had a very strong mind of her own and was clean and abrupt in her dealings. Since young, she had made decisions on her own; and even the Wintry Sovereign could not change her will much. Now, she actually seemed to be relying on Jiang Yi a little?
What was wrong?
She obviously had not changed. That meant Jiang Yi had. This man seemed to have a natural flair for leadership. It could unconsciously affect the people around him, making them trust him, follow him, and even listen to his orders.
“Is this the unique airs and attractiveness of men?”
Qi Qingchen followed behind Jiang Yi as she was distracted by her thoughts. However, Jiang Yi suddenly stopped, turned, and looked at Qi Qingchen sharply. He said, “Qingchen, what is wrong? There might be all sorts of restrictions here; how could you go into a daze?”
“Ah?”
Qi Qingchen opened her mouth slightly as she was embarrassed. She didn’t dare to look at Jiang Yi directly as she lowered her head like a child who knew she had done wrong. Following that, her embarrassment changed into fury as she snorted and said, “Do I need you to reprimand me?”
Swish!
Qi Qingchen started to head forward as Jiang Yi shook his head, sighed, and said, “I really cannot understand a woman’s heart.”
After traveling for fifty kilometers, they still did not encounter any strange beasts or restrictions or even anyone else. Of course, they also did not find any treasures yet. It was forest all around with many types of old, ancient trees and vines. Strange vegetation was in abundance, and this forest seemed endless.
Poison Spirit had not returned yet, and Jiang Yi could only continue pressing forward with Qi Qingchen. Their eyes were like daggers as they scanned their surroundings. Since their divine senses were useless, they could only rely on their eyes.
“Eh? That tree is a little strange.”
After walking for tens of kilometers more, Qi Qingchen suddenly stopped as she looked at a huge tree. That tree was quite special; its tree branches looked like vines tangled together. As the two looked at the tree, the tree branches tangled like vines seemed to be swaying slowly; the tree leaves, however, did not move even a sliver.
“Be careful! Don’t go so close.”
Jiang Yi had seen many old trees that had become sentient; that Divine Tree had actually been a Thearch-Ranked formidable martial artist at it. He closed his eyes and through the State of the Union of Heaven and Man, he tried to sense the tree. An instant later, the Wintry Pearl appeared in his hand as he sent out tens of Sword Emanations Race beings.
“Go forth!”
Jiang Yi gestured as the Sword Emanations Race beings charged forward and hacked at that tree. Sounds of metal striking metal rang out as sparks were created. Qi Qingchen’s eyes lit up as she exclaimed, “Jiang Yi, this tree is a treasure.”
“It indeed is; how should we take it down, though?”
Jiang Yi’s eyes widened as he smiled bitterly and said, “Look at the area near the tree. It is evident someone else was here not long ago. They had tried to take this treasure but had given up.”
“Oh!”
Qi Qingchen had been captivated by the tree and had not seen the signs around the tree. This moment, she saw that signs of human presence were indeed all about; these signs were still fresh. She circled the tree as she finally shook her head and said,” Jiang Yi, let’s not bother with this tree. It is not a Primitive Spiritual Treasure; it probably is just a very special material. However, no matter how precious it is, it cannot refine a Primitive Spiritual Treasure. We shouldn’t waste our time here.”
“Keke!”
Jiang Yi did not move. He closed his eyes again and stood there for fifteen minutes. Suddenly, he moved as the Fire Dragon Sword appeared in his hands; and he hacked it at a tree nearby.
Boom!
That tree was just an ordinary tree and was easily cut down by the Fire Dragon Sword. Jiang Yi’s body flashed again as he continued to cut at some trees in the vicinity. However, Qi Qingchen was perplexed: Jiang Yi was only cutting a red-colored tree and ignoring all other types.
“Eh?”
After Jiang Yi hacked ninety-nine such trees, Qi Qingchen saw that the strange huge tree actually suddenly lit up with light. The vine-like tree branches on it started to move and finally parted.
“This…”
Qi Qingchen looked towards the center of the tree with disbelief; she felt as if this was like an Arabian night. There actually was a green treasure box within the tree. That box was very old, and mysterious runic patterns were all around it. The box itself was of such a high-grade; could the treasures within be ordinary?
Qi Qingchen saw that Jiang Yi’s eyes had not opened and stood in the distance, unmoving. She stretched her hands forward and was about to touch that green treasure box. At this moment, Jiang Yi suddenly shouted, “Don’t touch it!”
Qi Qingchen’s hands immediately stopped. Jiang Yi moved forward quickly as he took out a medial-grade divine-artifact longsword and hacked at the box furiously.
Buzz!
When that sword pierced into the middle of the tree, the entire tree shook; and a horrifying aura emanated from it. That long sword was instantly turned into a fine powder. Qi Qingchen’s face grew pale as she saw that scene. If her hands had gone near to the box and touched it, her hands would have turned into a fine powder as well.
Jiang Yi once again closed his eyes as he scanned the box in detail. He took out another weapon and pierced it forward. This time, there wasn’t any problem. Jiang Yi’s hand reached in as he retrieved the box.
Buzz!
After injecting his heavenly powers, the box lit up and opened. A glittering and translucent jade-green leaf was inside. Qi Qingchen glanced at it a few times and murmured to herself in surprise. “Could this be the legendary Heaven Immortal Leaf? Oh my, this leaf is at least worth a hundred million divine roots. It is one of the highest-grade soul spirit nourishing spirit herbs. Jiang Yi, you are incredible! How did you know how to get to this?”
“Very simple!”
Jiang Yi smiled slightly as he said. “You have to learn how to think differently. If you were the Demon-Killing Supreme Thearch, would you allow someone to come easily and take your treasures? Of course not! The Demon-Killing Supreme Thearch was extremely brilliant; if not, he would not have become a Supreme Thearch. Since he could allow people to come in to hunt for treasures, that meant that all the treasures were obtainable. There are only three ways to get treasures, actually. One is by force, another is by using your wits, and the third is to just pick them up!”
