The experts standing beside Su Heng all hesitated and backed out. Jiang Yi flew over, and he lifted Su Heng with his other hand after keeping the Fire Dragon Sword. He then flew rapidly towards the royal palace with any restraints and left a single statement, “All of you, withdraw! The Great Xia Kingdom has only left such a puny army, and you actually want an internal discord? Aren’t you ashamed if this gets out? If anyone dares to behave recklessly, I will kill their entire family!”
Jiang Yi was carrying a duke in each of his hand while he returned to the royal palace. He threw them outside the Drifting Snow Palace and asked several soldiers to tie them up and even muffled their mouths. He then walked into Su Ruoxue’s room with large strides.
Su Ruoxue was lying down the bed with eyes of concern and grief while Jiang Xiaonu was sitting by her side and consoling her softly. The little fox was lying on the table with eyes that were half-closed.
“Young Master!”
Jiang Xiaonu heard the commotion on the outside and was instantly delighted when she saw Jiang Yi walking in. Su Ruoxue’s eyes also lit up slightly as she stared at Jiang Yi without saying anything, but her eyes were inquiring silently.
“I have seized the both of them, and they are just outside. Ruoxue, what do you want to do?” Jiang Yi patted on Xiaonu’s head while he turned to spoke softly with Su Ruoxue, “Do you want to interrogate them?”
Su Ruoxue shook her head and replied, “Put them under house arrest first. Jiang Yi, contain the situation in the city first and wait for my body to recover before we do anything else.”
“Don’t worry, with me around, no one will dare to act recklessly!” Jiang Yi nodded and smiled. “Ruoxue, don’t think too much and take care of your body for the sake of the citizens in Summer Rain City. Understand?”
“Yes…”
Su Ruoxue closed her eyes and quickly went into a deep sleep. Jiang Yi gestured, asking for Jiang Xiaonu and the little fox to come out with him. He then looked at the little fox and said, “Xiao Fei, are you bored here? Why not go back to the mountains first?”
“Ji-Ji!”
The little fox shook its petite head and sent a message: “Xiao Fei doesn’t want to go back to the mountains. It is so much fun to stay in this place, mainly because of the nice food. Those grilled meat are delicious! Xiao Fei likes them a lot!”
“Ke-Ke!”
Jiang Yi rubbed the little fox’s head with pampering love and spoke to Jiang Xiaonu, “Then the two of you will continue staying here. After Ruoxue recovers, I will bring both of you back to Mt. Spirit Beast College before going back to Fairy Peak.”
After Jiang Xiaonu and the little fox went off, Jiang Yi didn’t enter Su Ruoxue’s room. Instead, he sat in the grand hall and began to make some serious considerations about the future.
Three years!
During the huge battle outside of Summer Rain City, he managed to keep his life because the Demon Empress forcefully stepped in, but the six influential forces obviously loathed him now. After the three-year promise, the martial experts from the six influential forces might not let him live. At least… the Divine Martial Kingdom’s Old Eunuch Lin wouldn’t let him go!
Before the Demon Empress left, she sent a message saying that she would leave Stellarsky Continent after three years; and he would lose a formidable backer. Since Shui Youlan, Zhuge Qingyun, and Abbot Yanshe gave their word, they naturally must not go back on it. Three years later, no one else would protect him; and he would have to face the pursuit from plenty of Vajra Realm martial experts.
He had to cultivate so much that he must have the strength to protect himself in three years. He could also leave the continent to find a secluded island and live there for his life—never return to the continent.
If he was by himself, it didn’t matter where he had to go. It would be most ideal if he could just find an island that was far away from the continent, living a carefree life without any worries. After experiencing all these incidents, he hated the days of killing and fighting and desired for days of peace and stability.
The question was… would Su Ruoxue bear to leave?
If Su Ruoxue didn’t wish to forsake her motherland, then Jiang Yi had to stay and desperately cultivate, striving for strength where he could protect himself within three years.
If he wanted to protect himself, his strength must at least be Vajra Realm; and it had to be similar to the fifth stage of the Vajra Realm. Three years was too short a time, and Jiang Yi didn’t even have the confidence to attain the peak stage of the Soul Travel Realm—let alone the fifth stage of the Vajra Realm!
Once his cultivation was at the peak stage of Soul Travel Realm, he must comprehend dao patterns; but Jiang Yi didn’t have any idea how should he cultivate in the future, which gave him a great headache.
It doesn’t matter. I will first see if Ruoxue is willing to leave. If she is willing to leave with me, then everything will be perfect!
Jiang Yi muttered and tried to comfort himself. He sat for a while longer before returning to Su Ruoxue’s room and sat cross-legged to cultivate.
…
For the next few days, everyone was peaceful in Summer Rain City. After the two dukes had been captured, the military was also restrained by General Lu; and no one else dared to do anything without authority.
Su Ruoxue’s condition was getting better by the day, but she had remained quiet. She did nothing apart from asking Jiang Yi about the situation in Summer Rain City or summoning General Lu to ask about some situations.
Jiang Yi could feel the pain and sorrow in her heart as all her family was murdered. Only two of her royal uncles were left, and they were so disappointing.
The kingdom was ruined, and her family was lost!
The kingdom might not be completely ruined, but it was almost that case. There should be nothing else as miserable in the world than this, right?
Su Ruoxue didn’t shed any more tears during these days, and most of the time, she would be staring blankly in silence, which made Jiang Yi even more concerned. He didn’t know how to comfort her and could only silently accompany her, holding her hand and offering her some warmth. He wanted her to know that she still had him in this world!
After several days, Su Ruoxue was almost recovered to her prime. Once she was able to get off the bed by herself, her first instruction was this: “Someone, prepare the carriage. I want to pay my respects to my King Father!”
Old General Lu immediately arranged a few carriages. Many of the chancellors came after hearing this news. When Jiang Yi helped Su Ruoxue off the carriage after arriving at the west of the city where the royal tombs were, they saw plenty of officials and generals were all gathered there.
“Greetings to the Princess and Lord Jiang!”
All the chancellors and military knelt while Su Ruoxue said nothing. With the support of Jiang Yi, she walked towards the royal tombs slowly. She was dressed in a pure-white palace dress, giving off this icy-cool temperament. As though she was a fairy that was beyond the realm of the commoners. She appeared to be in bereavement, and it was a pitiful sight.
The royal tombs were huge, and after walking for one hour, everyone arrived at the tombs of Su Diwang and the other Su clansmen that perished in this war. Looking at this uniform row of tombs, Su Ruoxue’s eyes reddened, but she didn’t allow a single drop of tear.
She knelt and offered incense for Su Diwang and all the Su clansmen, paying her respects. Her body was still frail, but she stubbornly insisted on kneeling and paying her respects for everyone.
Jiang Yi was at his wit’s end; he could only accompany her and pay his respects. When he saw her face getting paler because of her wound that got affected whenever she knelt, Jiang Yi felt extreme heartache. He had no choice but to silently accompany her.
The officials behind her followed along and paid their respects. After spending the whole morning, Su Ruoxue finally finished paying respects to all the departed Su clansmen. Her breath was getting erratic, and it was obvious that her frail body couldn’t withstand such a heavy burden.
Just as Jiang Yi wanted to convince her to return for a rest, she raised her hand and stopped Jiang Yi from speaking. She walked over to Su Diwang’s grave and bowed deeply as she spoke, “King Father, you can go with peace. Daughter will help you to properly govern the Great Xia Kingdom. The Su clansmen might not have many survivors, but as long as Su clan’s descendants are around, we will never abandon the Great Xia Kingdom. If the Great Xia Kingdom is to perish, it will be the moment when all the Su Clan’s descendants will perish together!”
“Uh…”
Jiang Yi was listening with raised brows. The thing that he was most worried about had happened. Su Ruoxue was not going to disregard the Great Xia Kingdom, and she was obviously prepared to raise herself to become the queen.
The eyes of General Lu and the others lit up. They might not be complying with the ancestors’ rule if Su Ruoxue was to become the queen, but what kind of state was the Great Xia Kingdom in? It was the most ideal situation for her to ascend the throne. Most importantly, she… had the backing of Jiang Yi.
