“What kind of opportunity?” several others asked at the same time.
“According to their intelligence, the mutated tribe haven’t discovered us for the time being. Or… maybe they’ve found us but can’t be bothered with us,” Bai Tongming said as he smiled, his eyes crinkling.
“That’s definitely a good thing.”
“The more they look down on us, the more opportunities to develop we have, and everything will be fine once we have our own God-level monster trainers.” The atmosphere in the palace became joyful and upbeat.
These people were all elderly but experienced. The loss of composure earlier was because they were suddenly hit in the face by the bad news, thus resulting in them collectively losing their cool as they clambered for a solution. Now that they had sorted out their emotions, they could calmly begin to calculate their potential gains and losses.
In contrast, their pride wasn’t important at all. They needed their pride, as they were a group of Quasi God monster trainers after all, and they were highly respected elders of their respective tribes. Surely, they valued their pride very much. Nonetheless, they also understood that rather than an insubstantial reputation, tangible benefits were definitely much more important.
“Let’s also inform the Huaxia Tribe of this matter. More Quasi Gods on our side would definitely be a good thing,” suggested Bai Tongming all of a sudden. At this point, it would be advantageous to bolster their combat power as much as they could, so naturally, the rest didn’t disagree.
“I’m fine with it. It’s just that we don’t know them very well, so we’d have to burden Chief Bai with the responsibility,” said an elder of the Xuanhu Tribe.
The other Quasi Gods were indifferent. They weren’t overly concerned about the potential response to their invitation, as while it would be beneficial if Chief Bai could convince them, if they still chose to refuse, they wouldn’t make them join by force either.
A cold voice suddenly spoke up. “If they reject us, then get rid of them. I don’t wish for someone to stab us in the back while we’re fighting against the mutated tribes.”
Bai Tongming turned his head towards the voice, his eyes falling on an elder who was wearing a couple of clips in his hair. He had a fresh and healthy-looking face, despite the silvery streaks on his head. He slowly lifted his teacup and drained it.
Seeing that Bai Tongming was looking at him, this elder then tipped his cup towards Bai Tongming in a mock salute.
Bai Tongming was baffled from the bottom of his heart. He had never seen this person before, but judging from his posture, as well as his proximity with the rest of the Xuanhu Tribe, he was one of their senior elders… right?
…
“My dearest father, you actually found a divine artifact on this outing! You’re truly as talented as ever,” the Windstorm Water Magic Spider mocked as it extended its head from the vanity, looking contemptuously at Fatty Big Sea.
“Heh heh, my daughter, just wait until I’ve restored my strength, then I’ll lend it to you immediately.” Fatty Big Sea, who was lying in the Divine Well of Darkness, shook its blubbery belly as it spoke to the Windstorm Water Magic Spider who was above.
The Windstorm Water Magic Spider laughed. “That’s not necessary. It’s just the Holy Water of Darkness; it’s not like I’ve never seen it. You just lie in the well and enjoy it. To be frank, the way you’re currently lying in the well is like a nice fat fish being steamed in a pot.”
…
On the other side, an unexpected guest had arrived at the Huaxia Tribe. The sudden visit was hastily reported to Gao Peng and Ji Hanwu. They didn’t dare to dilly-dally any further, immediately stepping forward to welcome the visitor with open arms.
Bai Tongming clasped his hands behind his back as he looked around casually. The high-rise buildings and huge steel monsters made him do a double take in surprise. Such interesting things! Although he could destroy them easily, they did give off a strange and indescribable feeling.
“Chief Bai, here you are.” Gao Peng quickened his pace and greeted Bai Tongming.
“Yes. I just hope that you won’t find me annoying.” Bai Tongming chuckled, then shifted his gaze to Ji Hanwu, who was standing behind Gao Peng.
The moment he saw Ji Hanwu’s appearance, his body trembled. He was shocked to the core of his heart. He looks exactly the same… Bai Tongming stepped forward and bowed down in front of Ji Hanwu, saying softly, “Master, do you still recognize me?”
Ji Hanwu shook his head. “I’m afraid you have the wrong person.”
Bai Tongming stayed silent for a moment before nodding. “I’m sorry, I must have mistook you for someone else.”
Ji Hanwu smiled. “The world is so big that I think it’s normal for certain people to look similar. It’s all right.”
“Hurry up, move the things over there and try not to disturb the master.” A tall girl wearing denim shorts and a wide sunhat was directing familiars at the side.
Gao Peng glanced at her a few times before he could recognize the girl. Wasn’t she Xun Quanquan, the girl who had worked as a receptionist at the studio previously? After Gao Peng returned to Southern Sky, the studio had been incorporated into the Southern Sky Group. After so many years, it seemed like she was doing quite well.
A few clumsy monsters passed by. The place where Gao Peng and his companions were standing was within the vicinity of the factory. A monster’s hand slipped, causing an iron block that weighed at least a few tons to accidentally topple off and fall towards Gao Peng’s head.
Gao Peng raised his right hand and caught it gently, then casually tossed the iron block back to the monster. He patted the butt of the clumsy Pig Headed Chain Monster and cautioned, “Be careful. Don’t drop it again.”
The Pig Headed Chain Monster turned around and grinned dumbly at Gao Peng. It was smiling just like an 800 dollar braised pig head on a dining table, with its tongue lolling out and dripping saliva on its greasy shirt collar.
“I’m here to invite all of you to join our alliance. Please don’t reject me in such haste,” implored Bai Tongming as he looked around. Gao Peng knew that this wasn’t a suitable place to talk, so he led his guest and his grandfather to the lounge and dismissed everyone else who was loitering about. When the last person left, only the three of them were left in the room.
“You guys know about Jiutian Shidi, right? I believe that I don’t have to introduce it since you should also know about that place. Now, the Mutated Tribe has been doing its utmost to proliferate on Jiutian and has already established many countries. They may have forgotten about us in the past 10,000 years. Currently, many of their countries are at war as the mutated tribes are in the midst of a bloody civil war.”
“The two countries closest to us are Murong and Mingyue.” Bai Tongming slid a carved goatskin scroll across the table and passed it to Ji Hanwu. Ji Hanwu didn’t open it, instead gently nudging it in front of Gao Peng.
His meaning was obvious. Now the person in-charge here was Gao Peng, and the elderly man had chosen to take a back seat. Gao Peng unfurled the goatskin scroll in his hands and saw a map. It showed the passage between Earth Star and Jiutian Shidi in the center and expanded outwards for thousands of miles. Although it was just a rough sketch of the terrain, it was still incomparably valuable.
“Yes. I must admit that this is an opportunity, but you must not forget—we call them the Mutated Tribe. Correspondingly, in their eyes, we are also mutated tribes,” said Gao Peng. “Before this, they may clash within their own species, but if we invade, they might unite to fight against us, who are ultimately foreign enemies to them.”
“Not exactly. You might have overestimated them, but we won’t expose ourselves so easily,” Bai Tongming said with a laugh. “There’s no way to differentiate us from the mutated tribes based on appearance alone. The most significant characteristic that sets us apart from them is that our blood is red, whereas theirs is green.”
“Green? That’s so weird!” Gao Peng was shocked.
“Yes. The mutated tribes think that our red blood is very strange as well,” Bai Tongming countered with a laugh.
