Chapter 342: Huge Waves

Missiles rained down on the ocean like battle axes. The savage weapons crashed into the sea. Bang! The waves went up dozens of feet.
Large amounts of specially premixed drugs dropped down and spread along the seabed with the exploded missiles. Every part of the ocean’s depths was dyed a deep dark red color.
Some of the fish frantically swam away when they detected the odor. There were also some Fish-type monsters that went berserk when they inhaled it. An Albino Grouper with two bulging eyes as big as light bulbs was leisurely swimming forward. The red mist diffusing in the sea inadvertently flowed to where it was and into its respiratory tract.
“Achoo!” It sneezed loudly, then quickly twirled its tail and escaped as far away as possible.
In between the explosions, a huge black shadow burst through from a black crack on the side with lightning speed. The turbulent undercurrent was still present at the bottom of the sea. There was also some debris.
The Albino Grouper had already disappeared…
A low, hoarse voice, accompanied by a crisp chewing sound, rang out at the bottom of the sea. “The smell is unpleasant. Some shrimps have been scared away.”
Soundwaves kept echoing throughout, one layer overlapping another. “The sea monsters nearby that have been called are already here. It’s time for humans to taste our wrath.”
“But why do we have to attack the humans? Aren’t fish tasty enough? Or is there not enough food?” another muscular voice protested. “I hate the dry feeling on land.”
“I was bitten by a damn sand worm that had wings. I’ll eat it this time,” a sharp irritable voice boomed. The Gloaming Oceanic Manta Ray’s giant body created a strong undercurrent that was as black as the dark clouds under the sea.
“That wasn’t a sand worm. Sand worms live in the sea. It was a centipede,” said the creature with the muscular voice mockingly.
“Shut up, you long worm! Don’t think I won’t devour you!” the Gloaming Oceanic Manta Ray’s eyes glowed green, like a pair of lanterns.
“Come at me, you ugly bat.” Its words were accompanied by a rustling sound. A huge, bloated, slippery, long, narrow behemoth slipped out of the gap. Blue and purple electric patterns flashed on the dense scales on its surface. It gently wandered at the bottom of the sea looking leisurely and calm. The fine white sand at the bottom of the sea was illuminated by the electricity.
“Stop quarrelling. If you guys are so talented, then go and compete to find out which of you can eat the most humans.” An overpowering sound resonated through the seabed.
The seabed became quiet again…
“It’s coming. Everyone, get ready.”
From a distance, a white line on the sea level was constantly approaching.
The sound of the tide grew nearer and louder. Gao Peng could see the scales of the sea creatures protruding out from the waves.
Almost all of the sea monsters possessed the ability to control water. If a lot of them gathered together, they could create a disaster, a tsunami.
“We can’t let the tide rise further. Otherwise, the fortifications will be destroyed in a second.” The commander-in-chief of the Yang Cheng military region, Yang Ku, made a prompt decision. “Everyone here who has long-range attack tactics will attack the distant tides. Artillery and missile vehicles, get ready to attack the area at the center of the wave!”
Gao Peng squinted his eyes. Beside him were Da Zi and Flamy. They were each very eager to try, their eyes indicating their desire for battle.
Gao Peng patted Flamy’s butt and said, “Go with the other familiars to attack the tide.”
He thought for a while and also patted Da Zi’s butt. Two tail needles poked his palm, causing him some pain. “Go with Flamy. Team up with it and don’t simply go wherever you like.”
Da Zi nodded repeatedly and flew to the sky with Flamy.
Goldie tilted its head and looked at Gao Peng for a while, then it staggered over to Gao Peng and lifted up his butt.
It waited for quite a while, and still, Gao Peng didn’t take any action. It turned its head around with dissatisfaction. “Gua!”
“You made the wrong sound again. It’s ‘quack.'” Gao Peng patted Goldie’s butt. Satisfied, Goldie got up and left.
Goldie moved its hand and touched the string of sandalwood beads on its neck. With compassion, Goldie looked at the sea monsters that were moving closer. It cracked its neck, making crisp cracking sounds.
Thousands of familiars flew in the sky. Most of the familiars that could attack from afar were at the Commanders tier or above. Almost all of the familiars from Pengcheng, Yan Cheng, and other regions were gathered there. Among them were five Lord-tier familiars flying in the air. They were the only Lord-tier familiars that could fly. The ones that couldn’t fly would defend from land.
Gao Peng discovered that most of the Lord-tier familiars had only broken through and moved on to the Lord tier in the past half year. He found out that most of their familiars were stuck at Level 40. They couldn’t reach their next breakthrough because they were limited by their grade.
A monster’s potential was determined by its grade. A tyrannosaurus rex and a tiger were an example. If both of them were at Level ten, the tyrannosaurus rex had the potential to get to the Perfect grade, while the tiger had the potential to get to the Normal grade.
When the tiger reached Level 10, it would have hit its limit because it had reached the peak state of its species, unless it had the fortune to mutate or evolve to get past the threshold of Level ten.
The tyrannosaurus rex would at least break through to the Commander tier. After reaching the Commander level, the grade of the tyrannosaurus rex would be dropped from Perfect to Excellent. If it wasn’t fortunate enough to evolve, just as the tiger, it would retain its level and not continue to breakthrough.
Oh… if an Excellent grade monster trained like its life depended on it, it might have the chance to reach the next tier. However, for a Normal tier familiar, no matter how hard it trains, it won’t be able to continue to break through, Gao Peng thought. He was making an inference from his knowledge.
It had only been about four years since the Cataclysm. It was too unreliable to consider knowledge found in books as truth. Perhaps these so-called truths would be completely overthrown by new theories after a few decades.
In the ocean, a pair of small sinister eyes was staring at Da Zi, who was flying above its head. It then slowly sank down, hiding among the crowd of sea monsters.
Da Zi trembled like it had been caught in the act of stealing Gao Peng’s snacks. It shook its head and gave the boisterous sea monsters beneath its feet a deathly stare. Someone had definitely targeted the smart Da Zi!
Da Zi quietly flew a little higher. A ball of electricity had condensed on its wings and formed short spears that shot towards the sea monsters with exposed backs.
As long spears would consume a lot more energy, Da Zi created short spears instead of long spears.
The double attacks from both land and air had their effects. The number of sea monsters rushing forward on the waves had reduced their speed greatly. There were sea monsters being blown to smithereens by the missiles. Some were also badly bruised by all the elemental attacks. Their corpses looked strange.
Some of the sea monsters had blisters on their skin, with blood congealed in the blisters. These blisters turned yellowish when they were soaked in cold sea water.
There were also sea monsters that were cut by the sharp weapons. Their wounds were smooth and clean with blood flowing continuously.
The rest had wounds that had been burnt to charcoal black, and their flesh could be clearly seen.
The sea was rising, and the waves were surging. The 20-feet-high waves seemed like walls made of water forcing their way in. As the water level rose, the sea seemed to tilt. Large numbers of sea monsters seemed to be stirring the wind and ferociously making waves.
Boom! Boom! Boom!
