Chapter 2004: Planet of Death

Linglong Xue walked to Qingfeng Li’s side. “I once read some ancient texts,” she said. “They said that the Sun Monarch from five thousand years ago wasn’t native to Mars. That he came from some other saint level planet. They said that he was the first disciple of a saint.”
Hearing Linglong Xue’s words, Qingfeng Li frowned slightly as he pondered to himself. The truth was, he had suspected long ago that the Sun Monarch wasn’t a native of Mars. This was because the sarcophagus he was buried in was made from saint level materials.
There were no saint level materials in all of the Crimson Fire Continent. If there had been any, they would have been found by the Crimson Fire Emperor. Then, the bastard would have become a Saint long ago instead of staying at the peak of the ninth level of the monarch realm.
However, although the Crimson Fire Emperor hadn’t reached the Saint Realm, he controlled the fate of the entire planet. He was the ruler of this planet’s heaven and earth. Even if he were to encounter an ordinary Saint, he could still fight them as an equal.
Qingfeng Li looked ahead at the planet filled with a deathly aura. There were bones everywhere. Astonishingly, every living thing on the planet had been exterminated by the Saint. Humans, animals, plants and everything else; they had all died. Their essences and souls were all gone, leaving only piles of bleached bones behind. The entire place seemed especially terrifying, dark and cold.
Qingfeng Li sighed. “Linglong Xue,” he said, “do you know what planet this is?”
Linglong Xue lifted a brow. Twin beams of blood-colored light shot out from her eyes, sweeping over the space in all directions. She observed the planet before them in detail, studying its material composition.
After a moment, Linglong Xue replied, “Where we’re currently standing, the soil below our feet is all yin-aligned. There is a massive amount of baleful yin energy within the ground, and it’s seeping out from far below. Look, there’s a significant amount of fog in front of us.”
Qingfeng Li and Huozhu Chi both looked in the direction Linglong Xue was pointing in. True to her word, they found a trace of black baleful energy ahead of them.
The baleful energy rose from the ground. The moment it came into contact with the bleached bones on the ground, they were all corroded into bone-dust.
Even solid stone and massive dead plants were being turned to dust by this baleful yin energy. It seemed that this energy contained some unfathomable power.
Huozhu Chi’s face was stark pale as he sucked in a sharp breath, backing away. “True-Yin Baleful Energy,” he said, surprised. “I’d never have thought that I’d see the legendary True-Yin Baleful Energy here.”
Qingfeng Li also backed away, color draining from his face.
To the self-cultivators of in the self-cultivation world, True-Yin Baleful Energy was no doubt a terrifying thing.
Between heaven and earth, there is yin and yang; black and white. Yang represented fire, which had a searing heat that could burn anything. Yin represented water, balefulness. Yin could become a powerful baleful energy that would enter the body, resulting in death by freezing.
Qingfeng Li remembered what Dark Night Emperor had once told him. True-Yin Baleful Energy was an extremely valuable substance found only on planets where Sages resided. It would never have formed on ordinary planets.
Now, massive amounts of True-Yin Baleful Energy had appeared on this dead planet. Could it be that this was once the home of a Saint? Otherwise, how could one explain this?
In addition, this massive planet was located inside the Bronze Sarcophagus. This meant that the Bronze Sarcophagus was a powerful Saint level item in its own right, one that held a massive space within. Otherwise, it would never have been able to withstand this massive planet.
At this moment, the expressions on the faces of Qingfeng Li, Huozhu Chi, and Linglong Xue all grew grim. They now knew that they had arrived on the planet of a Saint. This was no longer the Crimson Fire Continent. This place was dangerous.
Linglong Xue glanced at Qingfeng Li. “Should we stay here and try to find a way back? Or go forward?” she asked.
Qingfeng Li thought for a moment. “We were drawn here by the green light from the Bronze Sarcophagus,” he said. “We have no way of knowing where the exit was. Let’s go forward and see what’s here.”
With that, Qingfeng Li led the way ahead. Linglong Xue followed immediately after.
Behind them, Huozhu Chi’s expression underwent a slight change. He’d realized by now that Qingfeng Li and Linglong Xue had formed an alliance. For the time being, he didn’t dare to make a move against Qingfeng Li.
He knew that, with his trump card, he might be able to defeat Qingfeng Li. However, he was no match for both him and Linglong Xue.
Of course, this was all in his head. Even if Huozhu Chi were to use up all his trump cards, he would still be no match for Qingfeng Li, who had the Chaos treasure that was the Black-and-White Millstone hidden in his mind-space that he’d never used.
Qingfeng Li and Linglong Xue walked quickly. In just a short while, they’d walked for over a thousand meters. Naturally, they both noticed Huozhu Chi, who trailed behind them. But Qingfeng Li didn’t pay it much mind.
Although deep down, Qingfeng Li really wanted to kill Huozhu Chi right now, he also knew that this planet of death was full of hidden dangers.
If he and Huozhu Chi were to fight one another, it would be a battle of life and death. They would no doubt both sustain injuries and, maybe, some creature would even suddenly appear and kill them both. That’s why Qingfeng Li held back for the time being. He needed to check out what this dead planet held first.
There were far too many bones here. Each step they took cracked more of the bleached bones underfoot. These bones had once belonged to all kinds of lifeforms. Together, the sight was enough to make anyone tremble inwardly.
Suddenly, Qingfeng Li stopped dead in his tracks. He focused his attention on his ears and listened closely. His immense mana energy had already picked up the presence of a mysterious energy hidden not far ahead of them. However, this energy was very weak.
Linglong Xue frowned, a hint of uncertainty appearing in her blood-red eyes. “Why did you stop?” she asked.
Qingfeng Li held out a finger before his lips. “Shh…” he warned quietly. “Don’t talk. Listen. Isn’t there a weeping sound in the air?”
Linglong Xue, too, focused on her hearing. After a moment, she shook her head. “I don’t hear any weeping.”
Qingfeng Li glanced at her, not replying. He knew that his spirit energy had reached the ninth level of the monarch realm. This, along with the powerful spirit energy techniques he practiced, was the reason only he could hear the weeping, and Linglong Xue and Huozhu Chi could not.
Huozhu Chi caught up to them from behind. “Stop jumping at shadows,” he chided at Qingfeng Li. “What, are you trying to scare us by telling us there’s some sound? Where? I don’t hear anything. Look around. This is a dead planet. There are only bones and more bones. What else could there possibly be?”
Qingfeng Li paid no attention to Huozhu Chi. To him, it really didn’t matter whether Huozhu Chi was here or not. He didn’t take him seriously at all.
Seeing the way Qingfeng Li was ignoring him infuriated Huozhu Chi. However, there was nothing he could do. Just as he was about to mock him some more, his expression suddenly changed.
Ahead of them, there appeared a figure, a figure made of black baleful energy fog.
