Chapter 522: Gifts in the New Year

“You don’t have to bring so many gifts,” Zhang Xiuying said.
“I just brought some small gifts to wish you a happy new year,” Sun Yunsheng said,
They were actually not small at all. He had carried in many packages. At first glance, it was obvious they were probably high-end items.
“Are they expensive?” Zhang Xiuying asked.
“They are not expensive. They are for you and uncle,” Sun Yunsheng said. “Did Dr. Wang go out?”
“He is at the clinic,” Zhang Xiuying said.
After chatting with Zhang Xiuying, Sun Yunsheng left.
Wang Yao did some cleaning in the clinic. In fact, the clinic was already very clean, but he carefully cleaned it up again. The morning passed quickly. When he went home at noon, he saw the gifts in the house.
“Who has been here?” Wang Yao asked.
“Sun Yunsheng bought by him. He brought so much,” his mother replied.
Wang Yao smiled. “Didn’t he say anything else?”
“No,” Zhang Xiuying said.
“Well, what else do I need to do?” Wang Yao asked.
“You just need to clean up for lunch,” Zhang Xiuying said.
After lunch, while the family was chatting at home, a guest arrived.
“Tian Brother, please come in,” Zhang Xiuying said.
“I came here to wish you and uncle a happy new year, and I also come for you,” Tian Yuan said as he looked at Wang Yao.
“You are fat.” Wang Yao smiled.
“Well, yes. Things in the company are going very well. I have already signed a contract with a management team. In the future, I don’t have to manage so much except for the major things at the decision-making level,” Tian Yuan said. When the burden on his body was removed, he had felt entirely relaxed. “Have you been very busy?”
“I was busy some time ago. Recently, I have had more leisure time,” Wang Yao said.
Toward the end of the year, people were busy.
Tian Yuantu stayed for a short while and left. He still had many other places to visit. Apart from his parents, Wang Yao was his first stop. This indicated the position Wang Yao held in his mind.
In the afternoon, Wang Yao did not go to the clinic. Instead, he helped at home, mainly to deal with some new year goods.
The next morning, Wang Yao was still in the clinic, but there were many guests visiting at his home.
Soon, Wei Hai approached by car. It was the same Land Rover he often drove. This time, it was followed by a pickup truck. The back of the truck was full. There were two strong men accompanying him.
“Come on, unload the truck,” Wei Hai said.
“What is it?” Zhang Xiuying felt a little cold.
“Auntie, these are my gifts to you and uncle. Is it fresh seafood,” Wei Hai said.
Looking at the boxes, Zhang Xiuying did not know how to respond. She knew Wei Hai. “The seafood… Please wait… Why are there living fish in the bucket?”
“Where is Wang Yao?” Wei Hai asked.
“He is in the clinic,” Zhang Xiuying said.
“Well, I don’t want to bother you and my uncle much then,” Wei Hai said.
After everything was unloaded, he left. He went to the clinic and chatted with Wang Yao for a while.
When they were chatting, another person came to Wang Yao’s house. Dr. Feng had driven from Zhu. He then took gifts to Wang Yao’s clinic and had a few words with him. Wang Yao gave him a follow-up check and asked him to come back to take medicine in a day or two.
As Wang Yao was speaking, his family called him to come back. Another guest had paid a visit to his home again.
“You are busy. Let’s get together again soon,” Wei Hai said.
“Good, thanks,” Wang Yao said. He then returned home.
“I told aunt that I didn’t want to bother you,” Chen Boyuan said.
“Look.” Zhang Xiuying pointed at all the things he had brought from Jing. It was mostly edibles, which were supposed to be special products.
Chen Boyuan had come from far away to deliver the gifts. As the saying went, a small gift like goose feathers sent from thousands of miles away could convey great affection.
“Thank you,” Wang Yao said.
It was inappropriate to not return a gift when receive gifts from guests. However, Wang Yao didn’t have any suitable gifts to return. He couldn’t send them drugs as gifts when they were not sick. That was too unlucky.
After staying and chatting a while, Chen Boyuan left.
For the whole morning, many people came to Wang Yao’s home and left. All of them came by car filled with gifts.
“What is Xiaoyao doing? It’s like he’s a county magistrate or something,” a villager said.
“Nonsense,” another villager said. “The gifts to a county magistrate are not allowed to be delivered in daylight. They all came in the daytime, which is frank and righteous. They are probably all people who saw him for treatment and have come to thank him.”
“But, these people are so rich. How many gifts did they give?” a villager asked.
They were talking a lot about this matter. In fact, it was none of their business. Some people were envious, and some were jealous. But, they were all idle and had nothing to do.
Wang Yao’s family had to specially dedicate a room for storing the gifts.
“How do you deal with this seafood?” Zhang Xiuying looked at the fresh seafood sent by Wei Hai.
“We will have a seafood luncheon.” Wang Yao smiled. “But, we can’t eat so much. I am afraid they will decay if they are stored for long.”
A considerable portion of them were fresh, so it would be too bad if they went rotten after storing for long.
“Ask you third aunt and your uncle to come to take some,” Zhang Xiuying said.
“Well, you can manage them,” Wang Yao said.
“Give me a hand. We will eat the seafood for dinner,” Zhang Xiuying said.
These fish Wei Hai sent were basically wild. He had specially selected them, so they were green and safe.
Wang Yao helped to deal with the fish, shrimps and crabs.
“Have your sister come back,” Zhang Xiuying said.
“I will call her,” Wang Yao said.
Wang Ru and Du Mingyang came back for the meal and brought something with them.
“Don’t bring anything again,” Zhang Xiuying said. She wasn’t trying to be impolite. Truthfully, there was too much stuff in the room.
“Hey, Mom, why do we have so much seafood?” Wang Ru asked after seeing the fresh fish and shrimps in the yard. “You bought it?
“No, Xiaoyao’s friend sent them by a full car,” Zhang Xiuying replied.
“Ah, who are they? They are so rich?” Wang Ru was surprised.
“How good my brother-in-law is!” Du Mingyang smiled at the side.
“Don’t talk nonsense,” Wang Ru said. “Get some condiment sauce. It is time to eat.”
The family enjoyed the seafood and good wine, both of which filled the table.
Du Mingyang accompanied Wang Fenghua in having two cups of wine.
“You can’t drink much. You have to go to work in the afternoon,” Wang Ru whispered.
“No worries, I can drink as long as uncle is happy. Or, I could take the afternoon off.” Du Mingyang smiled.
The whole family was very happy and chatted while eating. After the meal, when Wang Ru took things from the inner room, she saw the piles of gifts. She walked forward to have a look. “Goodness! They can’t be cheap!”
“Mom, who bought the gifts in the inner room?” she whispered to her mother after she came out.
“Buy? They were are all sent,” Zhang Xiuying said
“By whom?” Wang Ru asked.
“Friends and patients of your brother,” Zhang Xiuying said happily. She was quite proud of her son .
“Xiaoyao?” Wang Ru was surprised.
“Yes, the gifts from today were the most,” Zhang Xiuying said. “They all came by car.”
Wang Ru was absent-minded for a long time. She then said, “How good of a doctor is he? Look at the gifts in the room. We do not have to buy any goods for the new year!”
“By the way, when you visit Du Mingyang’s family, you don’t have to buy anything,” Zhang Xiuying said. “Just take a few gifts from home because we can’t use them up. And, tellDu Mingyang that you don’t have to spend money when you come back. You have your life. It’s not easy to earn money.”
“I think it is easy for Xiaoyao to make money,” Wang Ru said.
“You are different,” her mother said.
“Yes!” Wang Ru sighed.
In the afternoon, Wang Ru and Du Mingyang did not go to work. The family was playing poker around the table. At 2 p.m., there was another guest, Pan Juan. He also came with a gift.
“Hello, master, uncle, and aunt! I have come to wish you a happy new year,” Pan Juan said.
“Come in, come in!” Zhang Xiuying smiled.
“Are you not on duty today?” Wang Yao asked.
“Well, I just got off work,” Pan Jun said. He looked a little tired.
“You don’t look good. Haven’t you had a good rest recently?” Wang Yao asked.
“Not really. There have recently been a lot of patients in the emergency department,” Pan Jun replied.
“What types of the patients?” Wang Yao asked.
“A lot of them have gastrointestinal discomfort,” Pan Jun said. “Since the holiday started, many friends and relatives get together to overeat, drink, and have meat.”
