Chapter 1354 Racked Her Brains? 4
Doris thought Gu Qiwu would never go that far, but he had not given any replies in the past two days. Finally, she understood that Gu Qiwu had stated his intentions loud and clear. She still could not get hold of Mu Lingmo and Qi Lei, but she could not stay put any longer.
Doris paced back and forth in the living room of her hotel room, feeling uneasy.
“Miss, I’ve submitted the evidence to the police station. I’m sure they’ll be taking action soon enough. Gu Qiwu will be meeting his doom!” Glenn felt that he had to say something when he noticed how anxious Doris was.
Doris nodded and stopped in her steps. She suddenly turned around and looked at him. “Great! I shall see what he can do!”
“Yes, Miss!”
“Since we’re almost done here, it’s about time…Settle everything you’re handling right now. We’ll be leaving City Z in three days.”
Doris had spent a lot of effort to suppress her feelings of discontent. Who would have thought things would turn out this way after 30 years of struggling!?
“Miss, are we going to just leave like this?” Glenn asked quietly.
“What else can I do?” Doris slowly sat down on the sofa, appearing defeated. “I fear it might be too late if we don’t leave any sooner.”
“Don’t worry, Miss, if it’s regarding Mu Lingmo, the people I sent are cautious. While others might be suspicious, they won’t have any evidence because the person-in-charge is in New York right now.” Glenn put on a reaffirming smile.
Doris took a sip of her tea. Although her expression was not as relaxed as Glenn, her tone was softer. “It all depends on him right now. Mu Yuchen and Zhou Zimo are really tough opponents. Who would’ve thought that Mu Yuchen would suddenly return? We can’t afford to drag on any longer. It’s only going to put us at a disadvantage. We have to cover Alex too. Mu Yuchen will be on our trail even if we make a slight mistake. There’s also Mu Tangchuan and the others backing him as well.”
“Miss, do you mean that incident? Mu Tangchuan hardly paid attention to that, didn’t he? All the investigation results showed it was an accident…” Glenn tensed up slightly and asked with a frown.
“He didn’t pay attention? You’re wrong! I found out that Mu Tangchuan requested for the case files some time ago.”
“He wants to reinvestigate the case?” Glenn asked.
“It’s not him who wants to investigate it. It’s Mu Yuchen! He sent someone to that workshop not too long ago. I truly regret not cleaning up the leftover mess back then!” Doris’s expression darkened.
“Don’t worry, Miss. Coincidentally, I know about that person. Not only is he crippled, but he also has liver cancer, so he doesn’t have much time to live anyway, and the one he misses is in the UK right now, isn’t he? If we…then there would be no witness for them anymore.” Glenn smiled with a faint glow in his eyes.
Doris nodded. “Thankfully, you were able to get that woman on your side, or else, it would’ve been tough for them to listen to us. However, we need to be cautious this time around in order to get ourselves out.”
“Yes, Miss! I’ll make the preparations right away!”
Glenn then left the room.
…
The constant cold rain finally let up slightly, but the sky still looked gloomy.
The forecast said that the rainy weather would still continue for some time, and it might persist until Christmas or even the New Year.
In the study of Maple Residence in the Grand Waves villa area, Mu Yuchen was correcting Mu Zirui’s way of holding the calligraphy brush.
“Stay firm and don’t let your hand tremble. Relax, there’s nothing to be nervous about. Why is your back so tense?”
Mu Zirui was sitting before the tiny table whereas Mu Yuchen was standing behind him, holding the sleepy Mu Xiaocheng in one arm while teaching the older boy to hold the brush with his other hand.
“Am I doing this right?” Mu Zirui asked.
“Focus. Try to write something. How do you start writing?” Mu Yuchen’s voice was kind and quiet.
Mu Zirui took a deep breath and wrote the character ‘big’ under Mu Yuchen’s guidance. Just as he was going to ask for Mu Yuchen’s opinion, someone knocked on the door.
“Master!”
The sudden voice woke Mu Xiaocheng, who was about to fall asleep, up. All three of them looked at the door and noticed Li Si entering the room.
“Master, and Young Masters, too!” Li Si had a folder in his hand.
“Master, Master Mo…”
Mu Yuchen stopped Li Si as he was about to continue. Mu Yuchen looked at Mu Zirui’s writing and commented, “Not bad, but you went a little too quick here, so the stroke seems incomplete. Remember to practice more, alright?”
Nodding, Mu Zirui put his pen down and stood up. “Father, you can talk to Uncle Li Si. I’ll go back to my own room to practice.”
Mu Zirui bowed slightly to Li Si. “Hello, Uncle Li Si!”
“Your writing looks good. Keep it up!” Li Si patted his head before Mu Zirui left the room.
“Xiaye, come in for a moment!”
Xi Xiaye came in with two cups of tea.
“Missus!” Li Si greeted.
“This is some Pu Er tea we just got. Give it a try.” Xi Xiaye put the tea onto the coffee table before grabbing her son from Mu Yuchen’s arms.
Mu Xiaocheng wrapped his tiny arms around his father’s neck while looking at Xi Xiaye, seemingly unwilling to let go.
“Come to me, my son!” She went closer, but Mu Xiaocheng’s grip got tighter. He turned back to Mu Yuchen and started making some sounds from his mouth.
“Ba…ba…baba…”
It was Mu Xiaocheng’s first time calling someone, and it made Xi Xiaye jealous!
“Mmm? What did you say?” Mu Yuchen had a warm smile on his face.
Xi Xiaye quickly snatched their son away from him…
