Chapter 1255 Lucky To Have Met You 3
As his heart trembled along with the music in the air, he raised his head and watched the performing couple before noticing the girl beside him becoming quiet.
Dongfang Liuyun had one hand in her pocket while the other was just casually resting.
As he thought about it, his situation was not so bad when compared to such despair, was it not?
It was not really much other than a stepping stone on his path of growth. That was all.
Qi Lei felt much more relieved. He smiled and felt a warmth gushing into his chest, just like the sun that shone upon the world. Hope was rising everywhere.
Moments later, he started humming along with the tune, and his smile never faded.
Dongfang Liuyun glanced at him and chuckled when she noticed he did not seem depressed anymore. She tapped her fingers along with the music tempo as she hummed as well.
When Qi Lei looked over, his smile grew wider as her gentle smile seemed encouraging to him.
Suddenly, the crowd around them started to sing along as well. Those who did not know the lyrics just hummed to the melody as the couple repeated the song again. Some people even seemed teary.
His glances crossed her occasionally.
For some reason, it felt like Dongfang Liuyun was shrouded in bright light, piercing through the darkness he was left in, rescuing him out into the open, and carefully equipping him with an armor of steel. His eyes turned clear right away.
“Thank you, Liuyun,” Qi Lei said quietly as the song ended.
Dongfang Liuyun smiled and nodded, then she turned over and walked forward.
Qi Lei paused before catching up with her. He walked beside her and noticed her looking around the plaza, so he then continued, “Hey, I’m thanking you!”
Dongfang Liuyung continued to move as she glanced at him. “I’d be much happier if you say ‘thank you, Teacher Dongfang!’”
He instantly realized that Dongfang Liuyun was setting up a trap there. “Ms. Dongfang, you’re 26 this year, so that’s a bit old for me to address you as my teacher, no? However—”
Qi Lei suddenly stopped. Both his hands were in his pockets as Dongfang Liuyun gave him a surprised look, but she calmly waited for the remainder of his sentence.
“However what?”
Qi Lei shrugged. “I just feel lucky to have met you. At least, this part of my mind feels much better after what happened just now, as well as after your comfort during this period of time. As expected from a teacher, I feel encouraged just by talking to you,” he spoke humbly as he pointed at his chest.
Dongfang Liuyun smiled. “I didn’t do anything. You are the one who reached those insights. There’s nothing I could do if someone doesn’t have the determination. I’ve always believed that you were special anyway.”
She continued forward without looking back at him.
“Why?” Qi Lei was curious. They hardly knew each other, so how could she believe in him?
He had trusted Gu Lingsha before and thought he knew a lot about her, but who would have known she would have turned out like this?
Dongfang Liuyun replied briefly after that, “Gut feeling.”
She took a deep breath. “My gut feeling tells me that you’re a great person, and someone trustworthy, thus it won’t do me harm even if you turn out to be not trustworthy anyway. Just like my students, I hope they can learn something from me. I can’t force them to learn, and I can only believe in them.”
“Even so, you’re only semi-passable as a teacher,” Qi Lei said.
“I doubt you’d understand, but a teacher can only do so much.” Dongfang Liuyun did not mind his remark at all.
“How do you feel right now?” She switched topics.
Qi Lei nodded. “I feel much better now. I feel like I’ve thought a lot of things through as well. But, wait, I think I won’t go to the library. I have to go back to Qi Kai. It’s time for me to face it.” His eyes were brimming with determination as well as gratitude towards her.
Dongfang Liuyun smiled. “I wish you good luck then.”
“Thank you!”
Qi Lei took out a library card and handed it to her. “Please help me return the books in the car. I’ve already gone through them.”
Frowning, Dongfang Liuyun was surprised to see the extra library card from him. She took it from him moments later and did not say anything further as she just walked forward.
There was a pleasant fragrance in the air as she passed by. When he turned over and looked at her, he could only catch a glimpse of her dark figure and her wavy long hair…
She seemed cold on the outside, but she was a very warm person.
Mmm, a beautiful and nice person.
That was Qi Lei’s impression of her now.
Many years later, every time he was reminded of her figure, the same thought appeared in his mind— bless you and have a good life.
While he had his hopes up, he could not fight against her quiet stance. Her gentle smile alone was enough for his happiness…
