The Woman in the Photo
When they reached Perry Residence, Vincent was about to open the car door for Jenny when she
stepped out herself.
“I’ll get it for you, Vincent. You can wait outside first,” she said.
Vincent shook his head. “No need. I’ll follow you upstairs and wait by the door.” He didn’t want to make
Jenny take two trips. Mr. Faust would give him a hard time if he did.
Jenny didn’t refuse. The two went up and swiftly reached Alec’s condominium.
She used the keys he had given her to open the door while Vincent silently waited beside it. The walls
inside were painted black, reminding her of Alec’s design task for her. Jenny reminded herself to get it
done ASAP as she walked in.
The study was different from the living room. It had an oppressive air, making Jenny question how Alec
could stand being in there while working.
She went to the shelf by the study desk and quickly found the documents Alec needed. She was about
to leave when she suddenly remembered what Yvonne had told her the other day. The picture of the
woman under Alec’s desk…
Jenny glanced at the desk, a thought forming in her heart.
“A peep wouldn’t hurt. It might make me feel better.” With that thought in mind, Jenny went to the desk
and opened the drawers. She found nothing like a photo in them. Yvonne had lied to her.
Jenny sighed in relief. She was prepared to leave when she noticed a book on the desk. It was a novel.
When did Alec have time for novels when he was so busy with work?
Jenny picked it up and flipped through it. A photo fell out. On it was a woman, arm-in-arm with a man
and making a peace sign at the camera. Her smile was bright and beautiful.
Jenny felt a headache coming on the longer she gazed at the photo. She wanted so badly to believe
Yvonne was lying to her when she said Jenny looked like this woman. But…they were practically
sisters. It wasn’t even skin-deep, no-the woman had a similar air to herself.
The man the woman was holding was none other than Alec himself. Jenny had a strong feeling he was
just as happy as the woman was in the photo. She felt like she might hyperventilate, so she quickly
tucked the photo back and put the book on the table. She then ran out of the study.
“Miss Walter,” Vincent greeted, noticing how pale Jenny was.
The woman forced a smile. “Here, Alec’s documents.”
“Thank you.” Vincent nodded.
As Jenny watched him leave, the smile on her face fell. She stayed by Alec’s condominium for a long
time before finally leaving.
Who was the woman in the photo? Alec’s ex-girlfriend?
