Chapter 1220Chapter 1220 Cannot Help
By the time Martha came to her senses, the police officers had already walked far away. She wailed,
“Such a tragedy!”
As she fell, Herald quickly moved to catch her, “Grandma!”
After settling down Martha, Herald immediately prepared to head to the hotel without stopping for a
break.
He figured that incident must've been Lucas' doing considering how the president was involved.
As Pauline saw Herald getting ready to leave, she immediately grabbed his sleeve, crying bitterly,
“Herald, I'm sorry for how I've treated you and all the harsh words I've said to you. Please don't take it
to heart. Hugo is your only brother in this family. He is your biological brother. You must save him!”
Herald was already annoyed. Usually, whenever Pauline acted out, he would turn a blind eye. But now,
seeing her pestering him again, Herald couldn't help but respond harshly, “If you hadn't spoiled him all
the time, would he have made such a big mistake?”
“Herald, it's too late to say that now. You must save him!” Pauline cried out. If it meant saving her son,
she would gladly endure Herald's harsh words.
Herald couldn't be bothered to deal with her any longer, so he turned around and walked out the door.
In just a single day, the once high-spirited Mr. Cook had become frantic and flustered, a far cry from hisinitial confident and vigorous demeanor.
Lucas sat on the couch, his long, muscular legs elegantly crossed. He held his phone, occasionally
glancing down at it, his attention seemingly absorbed by something unknown.

there something you need?”
Herald suppressed his frustration, calming his emotions before saying, “Mr. Nolan, isn't it a bit extreme
to be so ruthless? My brother indeed made a mistake, but it's not to the extent that he should be put
directly in jail, right?”
“It's precisely because of such thinking that he made mistakes. Today, he committed a minor error, but
who knows if tomorrow he might betray your country's secrets. Mr. Cook, what do you think? Especially
since he works in the Information Department. Do you think your career will still be smooth in the future
for having a younger brother who couldn't distinguish right from wrong?” Lucas raised an eyebrow,
looking at Herald with an indifferent expression.
Herald's face stiffened as if he had been hit with a startling revelation.
“Teaching him a lesson might be good for him so he can remember the lesson. If you're always there to
cover for him, he'll never learn to take responsibility for himself.” Lucas took a sip of tea from the table,
then said to Herald, “Go home. I can't help you with this.”
Ashlyn walked out of her bedroom, only to see Herald with a troubled expression. I've just answered a
call, yet Herald is suddenly here when I come out? Herald also saw Ashlyn. Holding onto his last shred of hope, he pleaded, “Ms. Berry, could you please
show mercy and spare my younger brother?”
Ashlyn was taken aback for a moment. “What happened to your younger brother?”
Herald was rendered speechless. Is this woman playing dumb or just acting clueless? Or is she
deliberately trying to humiliate me?
“He's in jail.” With graceful and dignified movements, Lucas poured Ashlyn a cup of well-brewed coffee.
His voice was deep and magnetic, echoing throughout the room and incredibly pleasing to the ear.
Ashlyn couldn't help but smile. “I see. Mr. Cook, I can't help you.” It seems like Lucas did this? How is it
that his actions were so swift this time that I didn't even have time to react?
“Five million,” Herald said, steeling his heart as he spoke.
“Money is a sensitive issue to discuss.” Lucas handed the teacup to Ashlyn, his eyes filled with
affection. “Just brewed, give it a try.”
Ashlyn felt Lucas was being an utter jerk, yet he seemed extremely handsome at that moment!
“You should go back.” Ashlyn took a sip of coffee, the aroma spreading in her mouth. “You should have
a much easier life without your troublemaker of a younger brother, Mr. Cook.”
“Oh, by the way, Section Six has helped resolve the issue with your new energy,” Lucas said
nonchalantly. Herald noticed the couple was determined not to give in. Biting back his humiliation, he turned and left.
