Chapter 279: Double Standard
In response to Teacher Dong’s reprimand, Fang Xinxin blinked lazily. “Aiya, oh no, I really did harm someone. Please take a look. There are bite marks on Jiang Xingnan’s hand. It seems like he was bitten by the snake.”
“Very good. You’re admitting to it, aren’t you? The snake you brought in as a prank has caused harm to one student already. Let’s see if any teachers will still speak up for you!” Dong Yuzhu gritted her teeth and threatened her.
She quickly brought out her phone to make a call. “Hello, Teacher Ma? Fang Xinxin brought a snake to class and hurt Xingnan. Please come over and settle this matter.”
Most of the students were watching Dong Yuzhu strangely. She was clearly biased against Fang Xinxin.
Even Jiang Xingnan couldn’t help but speak up. “Teacher Dong, you called Head Ma over so quickly. Aren’t you being too hasty?”
“Isn’t it all for the sake of obtaining justice for you?” Dong Yuzhu had a pained expression on her face. “Xingnan, you’re too kind. You’re still trying to speak up for Fang Xinxin after you’ve been bitten by a snake. Listen to me. Her behaviour is too vicious. If she dares to bring a snake to class today, won’t she be setting the class on fire tomorrow? The school needs to deal with this firmly!”
Jiang Xingnan responded urgently. “Teacher Dong, it’s better not to…”
“Why not?” Dong Yuzhu had suffered a slap from Fang Xinxin in the teacher’s office previously. She even received a demerit and lost her opportunity to become an assistant professor.
She dearly wished that she could kill Fang Xinxin!
She had finally obtained a suitable excuse. There was no way she would let her off easily. “We can’t let this type of student go scot-free. We have to kick her out of school!”
After receiving the call, Head Ma rushed over to the classroom. “Teacher Dong, what on earth happened? Who are you trying to kick out of school again?”
“It’s Fang Xinxin.” Dong Yuzhu wanted to exaggerate Fang Xinxin’s mistakes but Jiang Xingnan rushed to speak up first. “Head Ma, there’s no need to trouble you here. This is all because I thought Fang Xinxin likes snakes. I took our relationship as classmates into account and decided to buy her a snake as a gift. I didn’t expect her to refuse the gift and return it to me.”
He held the wound on the back of his hand. “In a moment of carelessness, I was bitten by the snake. Thankfully, the snake was not venomous.”
The snake was actually bought by Jiang Xingnan! When Dong Yuzhu heard this, her face nearly twisted from anger. She glared harshly at Fang Manxue. “Why did you say that it belonged to Fang Xinxin!”
In her rush to ruin Fang Xinxin, she had caused a large misunderstanding in front of the students.
“I… I’m sorry. Teacher Dong, I didn’t speak clearly.” Fang Manxue had hoped to destroy Fang Xinxin’s image. She did not expect Dong Yuzhu to become so enraged?
“Hmph!” Dong Yuzhu had nowhere to vent her anger.
She was helpless over the fact that Fang Manxue was Bai Qinghao’s fiancée. Fang Manxue was not someone she could offend. Thus, she helped her to find an excuse. “Forget it. You’re a girl. The sight of the snake must have frightened you.”
She then turned to frown sternly at Jiang Xingnan. “Xingan, you’re far too careless. How could you have gifted a snake to a student?”
“I made a mistake in my choice of ‘gift’.” Jiang Xingnan responded calmly.
Dong Yuzhu patted his shoulder caringly and clearly did not intend to pursue this matter any further. “We’ve wasted everyone’s time. It’s time we begin class.”
“Wait a moment.” Fang Xinxin stood up with a mocking expression on her face.
“Teacher Dong, earlier, when you thought I was the one who brought the snake to class, you were clearly determined to fire me from school. You even urgently called Head Ma over. Why is it that, when the perpetrator turns out to be Jiang Xingnan, there’s no need to fire him? Just because Jiang Xingnan is the principal’s son, you’re displaying such obvious double standards?”
“Who has a double standard?” Dong Yuzhu argued.
“Jiang Xingnan gave you a gift with good intentions. We’ll forget about the fact that you weren’t appreciative, but you actually dared to slander my character! With the way you behave, it’s no wonder that I heard you have thoughts about your own future brother-in-law.”
