Chapter 603: The Capital’s Research Institute Would Be Happy To Have You
Huo Yao pressed her forehead. She felt she had to explain this to him. “I was just worried that you weren’t used to it.”
When Huo Yulin saw the serious look in Huo Yao’s bright eyes, he nodded in acknowledgment.
It seemed he was overthinking the matter.
“Brother Yulin, do you still have insomnia?” Huo Yao crossed her legs and changed her pose as she leaned into the couch and asked him casually.
Huo Yulin responded happily the moment she asked about the quality of his sleep. “Your incense worked. Ever since I started using it, I haven’t lost a single night of sleep.”
Although he was still suffering from heart palpitations, he had stopped having nightmares.
“I have been reading psychology books recently. Let’s try something soon,” said Huo Yao.
Even though she was a highly skilled physician, she was not trained in psychology. However, she did not mind giving it a shot.
Huo Yulin lowered his eyes slightly. A complicated emotion flooded his heart. He had decided to come home after he saw the text message from Huo Tingrui.
Although he had only spent a few hours with his little sister, she was surprisingly thoughtful and even studied psychology for his sake.
After seeing his fair share of the dark side of human nature, he had lost a lot of hope in people.
Perhaps his biological sister was genuinely different.
Huo Yulin’s expression turned soft as he replied to Huo Yao. “Sure.”
Right then, the doorbell rang. Huo Yao put her feet down and was about to get up to open the door. But since Huo Tingrui had already walked over, she sat back down on the couch.
Huo Yulin and Huo Yao resumed chatting about something else.
Huo Yanxi entered the living room to see Huo Yao and Huo Yulin chatting happily and instinctively halted in his steps. He was happy when he found out that his third younger brother was home, but he suddenly felt sad.
He once had the opportunity to chat with his little sister just like Huo Yulin, but he single-handedly destroyed their relationship due to his bias towards Lu Xia.
Huo Yanxi’s throat turned dry. However, he suppressed the emotions flooding his heart, and walked over. “Yulin, welcome home.”
Huo Yulin stood up and nodded when he saw his eldest brother. “Hi, Yanxi.”
Huo Yao did not stand up. She simply looked at him calmly and greeted him before looking away.
Huo Yanxi clenched his hand in his pant’s pocket before he acknowledged her softly and acted as though everything was normal.
He sat down on the couch and looked at Huo Yulin as he asked. “What are your plans? Are you going to stay this time? Or are you going back to the research institute?”
Huo Yulin straightened his back with his pale face looking unusually serious. “After I am done handing over at the research institute, I plan on coming home.”
Huo Yanxi nodded. “The research institute in the capital would be happy to have you.”
The moment he mentioned the research institute in the capital, Huo Yao pricked her ears and pondered.
She recalled that Lei Xiao was at some research institute as well.
Was it the same one Huo Yanxi was talking about?
Huo Yulin pursed his lips with a confident look on his face. “I haven’t decided yet.”
‘Uh huh. There’s no hurry for you to decide. Oh yes. How is our eldest uncle doing?” asked Huo Yanxi.
Huo Yulin shook his head helplessly. “Same ol’ same ol’. Nothing can be done about the problems he has due to his old ailments.”
Huo Yanxi chatted more with Huo Yulin while Huo Yao sat beside them. She neither interrupted them nor felt awkward.
