Chapter 301 - The more they can sell, the higher their commissions. (3)
90,000 yuan was not a small amount. They had a lawyer drafted up an agreement and handed the money over to Shu Yan in front of the lawyer. They gave Shu Yan three-days’ time to vacate the location.
That was a nasty move on their part, giving her only three days to vacate the place. They didn’t even allow her time to take care of her inventory. Luckily, she was well-prepared.
“You don’t learn how to do business from watching others. I hope you won’t regret about this decision.” Shu Yan looked at them and snickered.
“You don’t need to worry about that. Aye!” It still pained the landlady when she looked at the money that Shu Yan had in her hand.
Shu Yan didn’t want to engage with them any longer than she needed to and she went over to the bank with her money and deposited them before returning to her shop.
“The landlord took this place back?” asked Zhang Huaxiu.
Her words made Ling-jie and the little girl looked nervously at Shu Yan. Their boss lady had them liquidate their inventory and packed up any unnecessary items the last few days. Were they closing up shop?
Ling-jie, in particular, turned pale. She was a temporary worker at the factory. She stayed home with her child after learning that she had been replaced after childbirth. Now that she had finally found herself a cozy and high-paying job, it was going to go away again.
“That’s right. We have just signed the paperwork. They gave us three days’ time to move. How did it go with the shop? Are the banners ready? Had the lion dancing team confirmed us yet?” asked Shu Yan.
“All done. I will bring it out. The lion-dancing team had been scheduled as well.” Zhang Huaxiu brought out the banner. It said liquidation sale, everything from 1 yuan up, on it.
Seeing the worried looked on her two salespersons, Shu Yan said, “Don’t worry. Our shop will still stay open. We are just moving across the street. Go hang the banner up quickly. We are going to get busy.”
Most of the customers in the shop were members. They couldn't help but asked anxiously when they overheard their conversation. “Why are you moving all of a sudden? Where are we going to buy our clothes in the future?”
Shu Yan smiled and said, “We are just moving across the street, where Xianxue used to be. The remodeling over there was already completed and will be grand opening in three days. We will have promotional activities for our grand opening then. We will have gifts for all members and also gifts for new members. All styles will be new and a sale more than you can image. Do come and check us out!”
“Promotional activities again? Will there be a raffle again? Will you be giving away a television again?” One of the customers in the hope had obviously participated in their promotional activities in the past.
“Yes, there will be a raffle. There will also be refrigerator and washer in addition to the television and much, much more. Be sure to come.”
“Most certainly. We will be there for sure.”
“In addition, we are liquidating our inventory here. All 100-yuan items drop down to 40 – 50 yuan. Shirts that were 30 yuan are now 10 yuan. We aim to move.”
As steep as the discount was, the profit margin in garments were high. Shu Yan would still be making money hand over fist even at this price. But the customers had no idea. They only felt that things were so cheap now. Mainly Shu Yan’s shop did not barter and the only time there were discounts were during her promotional activities. With liquidation sale like that, the customers acted as though things were free and the madness began.
Shu Yan called up the members who left their numbers and any one who could make it made it. Those who had already finished shopping would let their friends know after they had returned and their friends would come as well.
The landlord was not worried when he learned that Shu Yan was having a liquidation sale. He figured that she was just trying to get rid of the clothes in the shop.
Ling-jie and the girl were highly motivated. Moving across the street was like not moving at all. And promotional activities were great. The more they were able to sell, the higher their commissions.
