Chapter 673:What About Me? Did You Miss Me?
Xia Ning frowned at the reporter. “Media nowadays. Why do you always see the worst in other people? Despite what you said, I still can’t believe that my uncle would cheat on my aunt.”
The reporter looked back at her. “Miss Xia, I’ll show you the evidence.”
Since this wasn’t the first time that some report openly challenged Xia Ning and that the Xia Ning had always been the winning side, the onlookers kept their silence, so that they wouldn’t become collateral damage.
Xia Ning looked up at the reporter. “Alright. I’m looking forward to that!”
Many reporters wanted to tell Xia Ning not to be sure of herself. If photos had been taken, this was probably a done deal.
Moreover, they had heard rumors as well.
Since Xia Ning had insisted on Shen Donglai’s innocence, some reporters might do everything they could to prove otherwise. After all, they had all had experience with Xia Ning’s sharp tongue before!
Xia Ning didn’t linger on that subject but began to talk to the actors and actresses nearby in a low voice. The event went on for another two hours before the crew headed for the next location.
It was already eight o’clock when they wrapped up for the day.
Lu Chuan turned to Xia Ning. “Do you want to grab some dinner? We haven’t eaten together since the filming was completed.”
Xia Ning looked amusingly at Lu Chuan. “So you’re not worried about getting my dirt on you anymore?”
Lu Chuan rubbed his nose. “I was just kidding.”
Xia Ning stopped teasing Lu Chuan and shook her head. “I’m tired and I miss the bed in my hotel room.”
“You’re not in a hurry to call your boyfriend, are you?” Lu Chuan asked teasingly.
Xia Ning’s expression stiffened for a split second, but she recovered almost immediately. “Brother Lu, you’re the one in a hurry to call someone!”
She was going to make a phone call, but not to her boyfriend! However, what was Qiao Yu to her now, if not a boyfriend?
What happened between Wen Yue and Mu Zichen had really gotten her thinking. She wanted to be with her child, but her child came with his dad. Qiao Yu wasn’t like Mu Zichen. At least he genuinely loved his child.
Rubbing his nose, Lu Chuan looked embarrassed. Xia Ning had guessed it right.
“There, there. I was just messing with you, but the joke has backfired. I should keep my mouth shut.”
The others all laughed and they went their separate ways after exchanging a few more words.
Xia Ning took in the night of this city as she walked along the street. The neon lights were dazzling and people came back and forth in throngs. This was a lively city, but nothing in it belonged to her.
Taking out her phone, Xia Ning dialed a number. It went through about three seconds later.
“How are you doing over there?” Qiao Yu’s voice came from the other end.
“I’m doing great,” said Xia Ning. “Where’s Enoch? Is he asleep?”
“Not yet. He’s watching TV with my mum. Do you want to talk to him?”
“That’s okay. Let him watch TV, but don’t let him stay up late,” said Xia Ning. She added after that as if she was afraid that Qiao Yu would misunderstand something. “I don’t want to make him cry after hearing my voice. You’ll then have to calm him down. I miss him. And say hi to mum.”
“Sure.” Qiao Yu replied.
Xia Ning fell silent after that. She walked on with the phone in her hand and couldn’t think of anything to say.
“You miss our son and our mum. How about me?” Qiao Yu asked all of a sudden.
