Su Zhinian didn't even stop to catch his breath. He grabbed her hands that were heading towards the box and pulled her several steps back.
"What's wrong…" Song Qingchun staggered and fell into the man's arms. After she found her footing, she raised her head up in confusion to look at him. Su Zhinian lowered his head to shush her before turning to focus on the box sitting on the table.
The room was quiet. Song Qingchun didn't hear anything wrong. She waited for a while and was about to turn to ask Su Zhinian when she saw the stern and icy expression on his face. Her question caught in her throat, and her gaze alternated between the man and the box.
After some time, Su Zhinian released his grasp on Song Qingchun's wrist and took slow deliberate steps towards the box. He bent over to lean his ear close to the box. After confirming that the shuffling sound did come from inside the box, he straightened up with his brows furrowed.
"Is there anything wrong?" Song Qingchun walked forward to ask softly.
Su Zhinian didn't answer but used his arm to push Song Qingchun to stand behind him. He then looked around before pulling Song Qingchun into the kitchen with him to grab a wooden chair.
"What are you going to do with that chair?
"It's just the make-up I bought off the internet a few days ago.
"Tell me what's going on."
Su Zhinian's reticence caused Song Qingchun to grumble unsatisfactorily at him. Su Zhinian's face was eerily dark, and he didn't answer any of Song Qingchun's words. He placed the chair heavily into the middle of the patio and pulled Song Qingchun back into the house. Then he stopped and told her in a stern, firm tone, "Stay inside the house and don't move."
Then Su Zhinian released his grip on her. He walked to the table to pick up the green box with the LAMER brand.
"Su Zhinian, where are you taking my stuff?" Song Qingchun took a step forward unconsciously to follow Su Zhinian.
Su Zhinian turned around to growl at Song Qingchun behind him, "Please stay where you are!"
The tone of his order finally got to Song Qingchun because she stopped where she was. She witnessed Su Zhinian take the box carefully to the patio and put it down lightly beside the chair that he had left on the patio earlier.
Before Song Qingchun realized what he was doing, the man suddenly picked up the chair and smashed it heavily at the box. Su Zhinian had used all the force inside his body because the chair smashed into pieces as it hit the floor.
The loud noise caused Song Qingchun to shiver. The chair lay about Su Zhinian in broken pieces, the green color box had already lost its shape, and something viscous akin to flesh and blood flowed out of it.
Song Qingchun took two steps towards Su Zhinian to see clearer. When she got a closer look, she immediately turned back around.
