Chapter 253: Death by Force (Part Three)
Yang Wenshu had been tormented so badly that she wanted nothing more than a quick death.
She had never been like this before, when she felt that living one more minute was beyond her tolerance level.
The violent pain had already stopped her from feeling hungry but it made her feel extremely thirsty. The servants had given her very little water in the past three days and would have not given her even a single drop had they not been instructed to prevent her from dying.
On the first day, she tried to stay firm and believed that her daughter would come to save her.
But she almost gave up on the second day.
On the third day, she gave up her dignity and just wanted to die!
She finally understood why Shangguan Ning had given her three more days to live. She wanted to torment her just like how her mother had been tortured.
It was too painful. She wanted to die, and she wanted to die now!
Death could end all of this pain. Death could free her from being bullied by these people. Death could make her turn into a ghost to take revenge upon these people.
Yang Wenshu’s wound had started to rot. She had had a fever for days now and her mind had turned hazy. She wouldn’t live much longer even if Shangguan Ning didn’t force her to die.
She picked up the knife which Shangguan Ning had tossed to the ground and put it on her wrist with trembling hands.
The cut from the sharp knife created a very deep gash on her wrist. The little blood which remained in Yang Wenshu’s body instantly gushed out.
Within a few seconds, the metallic smell of blood spread across the entire living room.
Shangguan Ning couldn’t help but think of the time when when she was ten years old and her mother had killed herself in front of her.
Tears leaked out of her eyes immediately. She whispered inside her heart, “Mom, I have finally taken revenge for you. This woman should have died ages ago. So sorry for having taken so long to find her. I hope you won’t blame me for having blood of the enemy on my hands and for forcing father to die as well. You sacrificed your life for my sake, what I have done is so little. I hope it is enough to bring you consolation.”
Jing Yiran was astonished at the scene in front of him. He had never expected that the kind-hearted Shangguan Ning could be so fierce.
She had really forced Yang Wenshu to kill herself. Yang Wenshu wouldn’t have lived long anyways, but she didn’t want her to die a natural death. Instead, she wanted her to cut her wrist and kill herself!
Even the mildest animals turned wild in critical situations.
Shangguan Ning was like a crazy animal at the moment. Knowing the truth about her mother’s death, she had turned into a murderess without hesitation.
In his opinion, she was as vicious as Jing Yichen, totally different from how she looked on surface.
Jing Yiran made a “tut-tut” sound. “You are more vicious than even me. I can’t seem to force the murderer of my mother to kill himself whilst you were able to do effortlessly. I should learn from you so that my mother could be consoled as well!”
Shangguan Ning replied coldly, “I have told you that Yichen has nothing to do with your mother’s death. Touch my husband, and you will end up like Yang Wenshu. Remember, I keep my promises. But I may not have to force you to kill yourself, because you would not be a match against Yichen. It would take him a second to kill you.”
She didn’t care about what Jing Yiran thought of her.
Jing Yiran sneered and said, “We will see who dies first. You should definitely live longer for me to kill you. I wouldn’t want a boring fight.”
With these words, he left the room with his men.
Jing Yichen came to Shangguan Ning and offered her his shoulders as he said softly, “You are still being stubborn while trembling so hard. Don’t do this kind of thing any more. She was a wicked woman and you should stand here with your chin high. Your father died of an accident and the murderer will be found soon, don’t worry.”
Shangguan Ning nodded with a pale face, trying to stand straight on her wobbling legs.
A long while later, she said softly, “Let’s go and bury father next to my mother!”
Huang Liyu had continued to love her husband deeply till the moment she died. She knew pretty well that he had betrayed her, yet she forgave him. Shangguan Ning knew that Shangguan Zheng wasn’t suitable for her mother’s deep love or to be buried with her mother. But she didn’t want to go against the last wish of her mother.
After Shangguan Zheng’s body was cremated, the ashes were brought to Huang Liyu’s grave so that the couple were united.
Seeing the picture and the characters on the gravestone, Shangguan Ning felt as if her heart was hollow. When Shangguan Zheng was alive, he kept trying to use her as a bargaining chip, so she only had loath and grief towards him and even refused to acknowledge him as her father. But after his death, all of what had happened in the past was gone. She had nothing but sadness inside her.
From this day on, she was an orphan.
Jing Yichen hugged her from behind and whispered in her ear, “Ning, you have me. We are going to live happily for the rest of our lives. Let bygones be bygones. We have got many things to do and we will have a wedding soon. I will make you the happiest bride in the entire world.”
Shangguan Ning’s tears eventually trickled down from her eyes.
She addressed the gravestone, sobbing, “Mom, look, I have the best husband in the entire world. He loves me more than anyone else. You can be at peace.”
Jing Yichen wiped off her tears gently and said in a soft voice, “Mom, Ning is mine and nobody will be able to harm her with me around.”
He gathered Shangguan Ning up in his arms and walked away from there, slowly.
“Ning, don’t cry any more. What if your mother thinks that I bully you?! Let’s talk about the wedding. We mustn’t delay it any more. If you find any more excuses this time, I will immediately announce to the world that Shangguan Ning is my wife…”
