Chapter 264: Kill Two Birds with One Stone

“Bai Muchuan!”
Xiang Wan was blushing as she stared at Bai Muchuan. “Why are you fooling around in the midst of work?”
“…” Work?
Bai Muchuan puffed a soft sigh and ruffled Xiang Wan’s head. “Who’s fooling around with you? I’m serious.”
Xiang Wan raised her eyebrows in doubt. “You’re serious now or earlier?”
“…”
Hmph! Xiang Wan frowned at his silence and poked him at the chest slowly. “Don’t think I don’t know that you knew Brother Steel would send his men to follow us. That’s the reason why you behaved that way at the restaurant. In actual fact, you always know when to stop. You’re someone with self-control…”
“Aye!” Bai Muchuan rubbed his temples and looked at her helplessly. “Xiang Wan, please don’t think so nobly of me!”
Xiang Wan tilted her head and just smiled at him without a word.
Bai Muchuan looked straight at Xiang Wan, a corner of his lips quirked upward teasingly. “It’s too noble that I feel ashamed to lay my hands on you.”
“…”
“I mean it. Why didn’t you think that maybe I’m really ‘up to no good’?” Bai Muchuan played with her hair casually. His voice was gentle, and there was a lingering feeling of tenderness as he said that with his husky voice. “I’ll be able to do as I please when you don’t think so nobly of me…”
Pffft! Xiang Wan was amused by his choice of words.
“What do you mean by ‘do as you please’?”
“What do you think?” Bai Muchuan lowered his head slightly, and she could feel his warm and gentle breathing on her forehead.
Xiang Wan could not help giving a quiver. She felt that the atmosphere had somehow become romantic. “You are not joking?”
Bai Muchuan’s eyes were half-closed and did not reply to her question.
Xiang Wan raised her head to look at him. After ruminating it over, she nodded her head and seemingly made up her mind.
“I’ve told you before. If you really want to, I’ll go along with it.”
“…”
Bai Muchuan was speechless.
“You!” He suddenly let out a chuckle, his voice a little hoarse. “Don’t make it… sound so solemn? When the feeling is there, we will let nature take its course, alright?”
“Eh?” Xiang Wan could not understand.
“Look, here we are, standing right here as though we’re discussing over something so grave and serious. When you put it like that, it feels so embarrassing, agree?”
Hmm! He’s right.
“Hahaha!”
Xiang Wan laughed and rubbed her forehead but she did not dare to look at him in the eye.
“We’re adults,” she said calmly, “I understand you.”
“… Aye!” Bai Muchuan puffed a sigh.
Only heaven knows! He did not want a Xiang Wan who could analyze such matters so logically!
“What is it? You’re unhappy?” Xiang Wan continued, “I’m serious, anything wrong with that?”
“Girl! You’re too serious!” Bai Muchuan was not able to keep his cool for three seconds before he burst out in laughter. “Little fox, just do whatever you want with me!”
Xiang Wan could not understand what kind of strange thoughts were going through his pride.
Hmph! She snorted and gave him an annoyed stare.
“Fine, you’re the one who didn’t want it! I shall not bother with you then. I need to do my work now, do go ahead with your work!”
“…”
Xiang Wan turned around directly to get her laptop while a speechless Bai Muchuan stood behind her.
“Xiang, Wan!”
Xiang Wan turned around and blinked. “What?”
Bai Muchuan: “You’re casting me aside just like this?”
Is this considered casting him aside?
Xiang Wan gave him a bewildered look.
After a while, she was as though realized what was going on as she nodded her head and put down her laptop. She walked back to her man, put her arms around his neck, pulled him down and kissed him on his lips on tip-toe.
She had done this a little hesitantly and a little shyly. When their lips brushed against each other, she suddenly opened her eyes and looked at the man who had a pair of expressive eyes in front of her. A sudden rush of an unknown emotion spread rapidly within her, as though it was overflowing…
Hence, she pulled him down further, that he had to hold Xiang Wan’s waist with both hands to keep their balance…
Xiang Wan pulled herself closer to him. She got bold and daring as well as passionate…
“!” He called out to her. “Xiang Wan.”
Xiang Wan didn’t reply to him—she just continued to kiss him and leaned on him naturally. Incidentally, she let out a low moan due to the intimacy.
Bai Muchuan started to breathe heavily. Her initiative triggered his hormones, as though clamoring for more.
“You started this, don’t blame me—” He suddenly tightened his grip on Xiang Wan’s back and kissed her fanatically.
Xiang Wan’s heart was beating so fast that the rhythm felt totally off, yet her eyes seemed to be smiling.
“Bai Muchuan…” She said softly, “Do you believe that someone will knock on the door soon…”
Bai Muchuan heard her.
But before he could reply, Xiang Wan drew closer and brushed her body against him. “Mm… Am I right?”
Bai Muchuan couldn’t stand her seductive tone. He gave a gasp and then chuckled in a low voice.
“Teacher Xiang, you’re gonna get it…”
“Shush, Young Master Bai…” Xiang Wan had a sly smile on her face. “Someone is really outside!”
“…”
Bai Muchuan was so turned on that he thought he was going to lose himself; he didn’t want to care if there were really someone outside the room.
“I won’t care no matter who comes!”
“…”
Xiang Wan giggled. “Well, you’ll definitely have to care for this person who comes to our door!”
As soon as she finished her words, someone knocked on the door.
Although the doorbell was spoilt, the knocking on the door was pretty rhythmic.
Bai Muchuan looked at Xiang Wan with his fiery eyes and pulled a distance from her. “Just you wait!”
Watching how slowly and reluctantly he let go of her, Xiang Wan burst out laughing.
“Why are you taking so long? You wanna praise me?”
“I want to teach you a lesson!”
“Hey, don’t be so unreasonable?” Xiang Wan’s eyes curved into a crescent as she laughed. That expression of hers totally looked exactly like a crafty little fox. “It was me who get tricked by you every time like an idiot. This time, I finally guessed it right. Can’t you just compliment me for once?”
Bai Muchuan let out a bitter laugh while looking at her.
He lowered his head and adjusted his pants awkwardly.
However… it couldn’t calm down.
“Ahem!”
That’s so embarrassing ! Xiang Wan turned away, pretending she did not see that.
The person outside was still knocking on the door. Bai Muchuan tried to calm down by taking a deep breath. He pointed at a chair, signaling Xiang Wan to sit there before heading to the door.
The one outside the door was Tu Liang, who was delivering a piece of good news.
“Boss, the fish took the bait!”

Brother Steel was a careful person.
It was exactly like what Bai Muchuan had expected—Brother Steel really took the initiative to contact him. However, the messenger he sent was actually someone that Bai Muchuan had seen before.
It was one of those guys that both Bai Muchuan and Xiang Wan met at a hotpot restaurant in Xi City. He and another fellow stalked both of them later in a food street. Consequently, Bai Muchuan caught them and handed them over to Captain Zhang.
At that moment, that guy was sitting at the main lobby of the hotel. He was looking down and he seemed uneasy.
Bai Muchuan walked up toward the guy and sat opposite him, while Tu Liang took a further seat so as to prevent anyone from getting close.
“You can talk now!”
His simple words were emotionless yet powerful and even overbearing.
Bai Muchuan was totally different when he was in front of outsiders as compared to Xiang Wan.
His pair of cold eyes was enough to send a chill down the spine—
“Brother Crown Prince, the incident at the hotpot restaurant was a misunderstanding.” That guy stammered a little and was nervous. “Umm, my name is Liang… Brother Steel sent me here to apologize to you. People like me who make a living in this industry value brotherhood ties… when we did something wrong, we need to admit our mistakes…”
Bai Muchuan replied apathetically, “So?”
Apparently, Liang was very nervous as he kept scratching his palm with his finger.
“Brother Steel said that as we’ve offended you, if you refuse to forgive us, then it’s hard for us to be friends, let alone do business with each other.”
Hur!
Bai Muchuan laughed, still as emotionless. “Your apology is just based on words from your mouth? Where’s your sincerity?”
Liang kept his head even lower. His voice was soft like a mosquito. “Brother Steel has said that it’s all up to you on how you want to handle me!”
That sure sounds sincere enough.
So did that mean Brother Steel was no longer suspicious of Bai Muchuan?
Bai Muchuan pondered quickly over this—
In Xi City, Bai Muchuan was suspicious of them mainly because he felt that they were related to the 121 case. At that time, he did not think that they would be linked to the Dark Clan. He had met Liang on three occasions and Bai Muchuan’s identity to him was always a civilian.
The first time was when Xiang Wan called the police. The second time was when they tailed the two of them secretly, and the third time was when Bai Muchuan handed them over to Captain Zhang…
During these occasions, did he reveal his identity as a detective?
Bai Muchuan tried hard to recall when Liang started talking again.
“Mainly because back then, we thought you were the police!”
Bai Muchuan raised an eyebrow and looked at him, still as calm as ever. “What makes you think that way?”
Liang was not a smart person. He looked at Bai Muchuan but couldn’t figure out what was going on in Bai Muchuan’s head.
“That day after we fought with you at the hotpot restaurant, frankly, we felt unhappy about it! But we can tell that you’re no pushover as well as someone who did not want to create trouble… As for why we tailed you secretly, that’s because someone told us that you’re a detective from the Capital who is assisting in the investigation of the Dark Clan case.”
Bai Muchuan was taken aback for a moment.
He squinted his eyes at Liang and gave a condescending sneer.
“And, you guys believed it?”
“Yeah!” Liang slapped his thigh angrily and continued, “Brother Six’s death created an uproar. Brother Steel wanted us to keep a low profile since that happened. That incident has not blown over yet, and when we heard that detectives have been sent over to investigate us, we quickly informed Brother Steel about it, and… we started to follow you secretly.”
During that trip to Xi City, Bai Muchuan did not use his detective identity.
He was there to fetch his girlfriend.
Somehow, there was a pair of hands hiding in the dark.
Using an invisible rope, that pair of hands tied Bai Muchuan up with the 121 case, as well as making him become the main force for “exterminating” the Dark Clan.
Recalling the whole incident, from when Xiang Wan got framed and had to alight in Xi City, followed by him coming to Xi City to save Xiang Wan from her plight… Then, the Dark Clan being made use of to secretly tail him around. Through all these events, that pair of hands made him linked up the 121 case with the Dark Clan.
What a brilliant plot of killing two birds with one stone!
“D*mn! That *sshole is too cunning!” Liang was now fuming mad. “He’s obviously toying around with us!?”
Bai Muchuan grunted in agreement. “Two dogs fight for a bone, and a third runs away with it!”
Obviously, the supposed “informant” who furnished information to the Xi City police was the same person who provided information to the Dark Clan!
