Chapter 14: I’m got this Tyrant’s back
Turns out he just wanted to have his head rubbed.
With his chest filled with bittersweet warmth. Gu Yuan tried his best to pretend to be sound asleep but he suddenly felt regretful.
He should have embraced him in his arms.
His hand was placed back to his side, but his heart was still being hit with gentle force. Pretending to be deeply asleep, Gu Yuan’s arm moved and he wrapped the boy in his arms once again, raising his hand to the back of his head.
He often did this when he was deeply asleep and Lu Deng had long gotten accustomed to it. Going along with his movement, Le Deng leaned against his neck with and gently rubbed against his jaw.
In order not to attract attention, the dim wall lamps that illuminate the prison would automatically go out at a set time. The light flickered and disappeared into the darkness. His body though was gradually warmed by the heat of the body in the arms.
What does it matter where?
As his drowsiness grew stronger, Gu Yuan relaxed and closed his eyes.
His body was very tired, and as soon as he let himself relax, he immediately fell into a deep sleep.
After he had slept for an unknown length of time, he was suddenly awakened by movement between his arms.
When he opened his eyes, he was still in the darkness. His mind was too relaxed and for a few moments, Gu Yuan didn’t even know where he was. His heart suddenly beat fiercely, and a sense of crisis came back before full consciousness. Gu Yuan instinctively wanted to protect the boy, but Lu Deng had leaned forward and hugged him.
“There’s someone coming.”
The gentle breath hits his ears, and although he deliberate kept his voice low, it was still calm and steady.
Gu Yuan instantly became clear-headed and he helped Le Deng pull out the flannel cushions from under him and hide it. He lay down with his back to the corner of the wall. At the same time, as the sound of footsteps drew nearer, Lu Deng had also swept the scattered things into his schoolbag, and quietly disappeared into a shadowed corner.
Someone came towards them. The light flickered and a nutrient injection was thrown in through the prison door. The person didn’t even stop and merely turned around and left.
Gu Yuan remained calm and collected. His eyes swept across that nutrient injection. His heart couldn’t help sinking a bit.
The Guars had tortured and beaten him until he couldn’t move. When Lu Zhiguang came, he already had no strength left. If he hadn’t come in time to deal with his injuries and bring him food, even if he hadn’t gone into fever-induced coma due to the infection of his wounds, he was afraid he would have already lost his ability to move due to the blood loss and the cold.
Though the nutrient injection had been thrown in, there would have been no one to inject him with it.
If Lu Zhiguang hadn’t come, he would probably have continued to endure until his last bit of vitality disappeared as he looked at that last bit of hope to sustain his life that was so near yet so far.
The sound of footsteps faded into the darkness. The sound of the door closing echoed and then everything returned to silence.
His heartbeat was still running a bit fast, and Gu Yuan lay quietly until Lu Deng had confirmed through the system’s report that the crisis had passed. He raised his hand to light the wall lamp, walked to Gu Yuan, and knelt down to check his condition.
Gu Yuan sat up, holding out his arms to embrace the person into his arms. His smooth, steady and constant heartbeat passed through into his chest and their heartbeats quietly echoed each other in the dim light.
Lu Deng allowed himself to be pulled into his arms. He held his wrist and raised his head slightly, “I want you to live.”
His chest gave a faint tremble and Gu Yuan lowered his gaze to meet the clear and sleek black eyes of the youth in his arms.
Although theirs was still a ‘kept man’ relationship in name, Lu Zhiguang was too sensible and would rarely ask him anything. The first time he’d heard the boy speak in such a tone and he actually wanted him to live.
Clear anguish surged from the bottom of his heart. Gu Yuan stroked his forehead, tightened his arms, and smiled. “Okay, we will both go on living.”
The boy’s brows smoothed out, completely content. Gu Yuan’s eyes filled with soft light and he lay down a soft kiss on those thick lashes. He leaned the boy against his arm and raised his hand to cover his smart computer.
Lu Deng understood tacitly and immediately turned on the smart computer and shared the screen with Gu Yuan. A translucent light screen was projected.
On the light screen, Gu Yuan drew a simple topographic map of the prison. He outlined their defenses, the route and frequency of their patrols, and explained to him in detail what he had seen in the past few days.
The body in his arms was warm and solid but what appeared in Gu Yuan’s mind was that life and death situation they had encountered at the edge of the forest.
Lu Zhiguang has this habit that once they encountered danger, he wouldn’t hesitate to pounce in front of him. Gu Yuan hadn’t received any professional training and was bound to always be inferior compared to Lu Deng in terms of response speed, but at least he can plan ahead and try his best to eliminate all possible dangers.
It wasn’t enough for just either of them to survive.
Both of them together must continue on living.
*
Lu Deng stayed with Gu Yuan for three days in prison.
The system helped to change the images that appeared in the surveillance. In the first place, very few people came to the cell of dangerous felons and right now, the Guars were so disturbed by their current situation that allowed them no room to advance or retreat that they hadn’t bothered to tortured Gu Yuan for a while.
The war was still see-sawing between the two sides. The Guars were unwilling to give up territories that it had already occupied but what the Galileans demanded was complete sovereignty. Time had been delayed until the bilateral negotiations. The representative of the Galileans would arrive at Planet Guar in ten days.
But Gu Yuan couldn’t wait ten days.
As the situation of the war worsened, the anger of the Guars would double and pour down in torrents. If Gu Yuan wasn’t taken out from here as soon as possible, their next torture might directly kill him.
In order to make Gu Yuan recover more quickly, Lu Deng had cashed in a few top-quality recovery potions and mixed them into milk for him to take. After a few days, Gu Yuan’s life level was finally raised from fifty to eighty percent.
It’s was just that although his injuries recovered quickly, the side effects of all these drugs were all dizziness and drowsiness. It meant that for the better part of the day, Gu Yuan was either asleep or befuddled. The hours he was able to stay awake every day could be counted on one’s fingers.
“If I fall asleep again, you might just carry me and think of a way to escape the prison.”
Gu Yuan had already guessed that the other had been feeding him something. Gu Yuan drank down the milk. He was currently in between bouts of tiredness. He smiled lightly, raised his head and took the youth against his chest. He stroked his head and said, “These days, I only ever see you feeding me. Do you have enough to eat yourself?”
He had seen how much Lu Zhiguang’s small schoolbag could hold, but the other party’s access to food was limited after all. The time he was awake was limited and he couldn’t tell whether the young man was secretly going hungry.
“I get enough to eat.”
Facing the bright light that gradually condensed from Gu Yuan’s dark pupils, Lu Deng finally felt relieved. His brows smoothed out and he drew closer to the other’s bosom. He took out a piece of chocolate from his pocket, peeled off the wrapper and fed it to Gu Yuan’s mouth.
What his young man liked were these sweet snacks. At this time, they just happen to provide his body with the most adequate energy.
These days, Gu Yuan felt like he was soaking in a jar of sugar. He has gradually learned to taste the differences between the various sweets. After receiving the chocolate and biting off half, the slightly bitter sweetness slowly melted in his mouth. He smiled and nodded, “It’s delicious.”
Most of his body had healed, Lu Deng snuggled safely against his chest and shoulders, which were still broad and solid. He looked up at him, with a clear smile in his eyes.
Gu Yuan raised the corners of his lips and fed the remaining half of the chocolate to his lips. He waited for the teenager to eat slowly and then he nodded slightly in satisfaction. He carefully flattened the candy wrapper, folded it, and put it in his inner pocket.
It really wouldn’t do to leave extra traces in the prison cell. Lu Deng embraced him and had him lie down. His hand lay warm on the other’s chest, helping him to slowly massage the invisible wounds that had pervaded between his muscles and bones during the Guars’ torture. “Is it still painful?”
Gu Yuan, his head pillowed on his arm, turned his head sideways to look at him. He shook his head, and gently gripped his hand, “I’m all fine now. Take a rest with me.”
The young man has always been bustling about for him. Every time, they would fall asleep in each other’s arms but every time he woke up, he would see that silhouette busying about by his side. It was like he didn’t know what it meant to be tired.
As for his condition, as long as his body recovers to within 70% to 80% of his usual, his mobility won’t be impeded. Those invisible injuries may leave some troubles that will need to be treated in the future, but Lu Zhiguang worked so tirelessly that it made him vaguely worried.
Facing the gentle warm light from the bottom of his black pupils, Lu Deng hesitated a little and then stopped the busy movements of his hands. He put the other’s clothes back on him again and allowed Gu Yuan to pull him to lay down.
When he expresses his needs frankly, the youth wouldn’t refuse. Gu Yuan’s heart felt somewhat settled. He tightened his arms around him and lowered his voice, “The war won’t last long. There will be a conclusion within ten days at most.”
Lu Deng’s heart stirred and he raised his head to look at him.
Gu Yuan had his arms around him, steadily and stable. That sharp light that had been absent for many days flashed across his eyes once again. “Within five days, the Guars will definitely initiate peace talks. Before they can use me as a bargaining chip, we will try to escape.”
Despite the noise barrier, he still kept his voice really low. Lu Deng listened quietly, the sound of his heartbeat rang in his ears. The light from the wall lamp fell into the depths of his eyes, and he quietly held Gu Yuan’s hand. “Okay.”
Lu Deng had the plot line and knows what would happen next. But Gu Yuan didn’t know for sure; he only relied on scattered intelligence he had collected and his own judgment of the battle situation. He guessed the subsequent development that might occur and decided on the next steps.
Some people became cannon fodder because they were forced by the situation; some became cannon fodder because of the unjust treatment of fate; and some people, despite being forced to the extreme, remained firm, clear-headed, and determined.
The reason he stayed, the reason why he returned, was not just because the other person’s embrace was too warm.
Gu Yuan didn’t speak any more. Instead, he just wrapped him in his arms again, putting one hand on his back, and slowly stroking him up and down.
His meticulous care for the past few days was finally bearing fruit. The warmth and strength he could feel on his back through the clothes was very reassuring. Lu Deng raised his arms to embrace him, he leaned against his neck, and whispered, “Three days.”
The system was still trying to break the access control of the prison gate. It was not difficult to open the lock. But in order to not trigger the alarm, the system needed to crack more than seven layers of secret protocols. It also needed a complete set of genetic information for it to read.
Gu Yuan had already told to him about the life monitor. Not only did the system have to trick the surveillance monitors, it also had to shield the locational information being transmitted by the device implanted in the other’s body. Otherwise, no matter where they went, there would be no escaping from the eyes of the senior officials of the Guars. There would be nowhere for them to hide.
It would take at least three days to handle both matters properly.
Even under the most extreme circumstances, as long as it was possible, he still wanted to send Gu Yuan out as safely as possible.
Gu Yuan’s arms tightened, indicating that he had heard clearly. He raised his hand to turn off the wall lamp. He stretched his arms to wrap him completely against his chest. He then lowered his head and rubbed the tip of his nose lightly. “Now, sleep well.”
Unlike how meticulous and dependable he was when handling proper business, the boy was actually as pure and simple as a crystal; even more ignorant of the ways of life than he was. Just such a simple little action could coax him into complete contentment.
This new gesture of intimacy seemed to arouse the curiosity of the person in his arms. He moved in his arms and raised his head eagerly to put what he’d learned to practice. But because of the darkness in the prison, he missed. His lips softly brushed against Gu Yuan’s lips, rubbing gently along his cheek.
His movements slowed in the darkness. Gu Yuan had been enduring bitterly these days. After being rubbed by him like this, he felt that his chest was swept by lightning and he couldn’t help his sharp intake of breath.
Thinking that he had bumped against his wounds, Lu Deng didn’t dare to move anymore. He raised his head and said with concern, “Where did I hit you…does it hurt?”
These days, he personally handled treating Gu Yuan’s injuries. He knew where there the injuries were on the other’s body and where he couldn’t touch. Met with Gu Yuan’s silence, he couldn’t help but be more worried. He raised his hand and reached into his unbuttoned shirt.

Gu Yuan moved his body back imperceptibly, grabbed the young man’s hand that simply wanted to inspect his wounds for him. He firmly set it beside him. “I’m fine, don’t worry.”
Lu Deng didn’t quite understand. Vaguely aware of the hardship in his voice, Lu Deng was worried that he had pressed down and constrained a blood vessel. He quietly shifted his body but was tightly encircled by the arms behind him.
The boy’s body finally rested peacefully against his chest and stopped moving. President Gu closed his eyes in the dark and slowly adjusted his breathing. He silently added to his memories.
Next time, if he hadn’t yet made the adequate preparations, he must remember not to carelessly fool around.
*
Three days passed by in a flash.
The system has completed all the replication of the gate’s access controls. They waited until the last wave of patrols was over and the last shadow of the sun outside the window completely disappeared into the night.
The faint sound of a door unlocking sounded faintly in the darkness. Lu Deng had restored the cell to its previous state. He also deliberately left Gu Yuan’s coat on the stone bed in approximately the form of a curled up human body.
In order to prevent the electronic lock from being invaded, the Guars specially installed a very sophisticated old-fashioned mechanical lock, but it seemed to be useless in front of the teenager. Gu Yuan only saw the metal wire flash between his fingers quickly and deftly. After a while, he heard a clicking sound, and the prison gate had been quietly pushed open a fraction.
Lu Deng slid out sideways, turned around in the dim light of the night and waited for Gu Yuan to follow.
Although he hasn’t undergone special professional training, Gu Yuan has never stopped exercising. After these days of rest and recuperation, his injuries have mostly recovered, enough to keep up with Lu Deng’s footsteps. The two snuck out of the prison and concealed themselves silently behind the tall watch tower.
They smoothly made it out of the prison but the real danger was outside.
Lu Deng leaned against the cold bricks. The wind was bitingly cold, only the heat behind him was, as always, warm and constant. Gu Yuan was guarding his back.
Outside, the exchange of the sentry posts was very tight. There weren’t any gaps to be found. Sooner or later, they had to move but they needed to find a suitable chance.
Lu Deng’s heartbeat was running a bit fast, not only from nervousness, but also from the alarm that his body was giving out that he was overextending it’s capabilities.
Lu Deng moved his hand slightly, took out a portable capsule containing the explosive potion, and slowly hid it in his palm.
The effect of the medicine was impressive, but its side effects were troublesome. He braced himself. If they could make it out of here, he could find temporary rest.
Repeatedly thwarted on the battlefield, none of the officials of Planet Guar was in a good mood. This directly affected the sentries outside the prison. When everyone felt like they themselves were in danger, their defense became much tighter than before. If this continues, they would be found no matter where they went.
They needed a bait.
Lu Deng pursed his lips slightly, judging where to break through. But suddenly his wrist was held tightly.
Turning back round to look, he was faced with Gu Yuan’s dark pupils. For the first time, he saw in them an almost severe light.
The two had reached a tacit understanding. With a single glance, Gu Yuan understood what Lu Zhiguang was thinking, but he definitely wouldn’t allow him to take risks at this time.
The brightness in the other’s eyes caused a slight sluggishness in the pit of his stomach. Lu Deng shrank back his neck instinctively. He raised his head and was about to speak when a sudden alarm blared from the prison.
The author has something to say: Lu Deng: Q^Q
Mr. Gu: It’s over, I’ll kill him, I’ll kill him. Σ(`艸’;)
System: He wants to top him, he doesn’t want to top him, he wants to top him, he doesn’t want to top him… 回口回 [Pulls petals]
