Chapter 2 I’ve Got this Tyrant’s Back (2)
This whole mission was actually a trap. And this ‘kept-man’ contract was to trap himself here to ensure that he would finish his homework.
That can’t be. That’s going too far.
He slowly twirled the pen between his fingers. Lu Deng turned his head, taking a look at the man who’d told him to do his homework and then leaned back on the sofa and closed his eyes. He quietly touched one of the workbooks and stuffed it back into his school bag without a trace.
Gu Yuan’s seemed very relaxed and his loose lounge wear concealed his vigor and sharp edge. If it weren’t for the faint electric humming sound of the computer around his wrist, it would almost make people think he really was dozing off.
In the interstellar age, the use of smart computers have become commonplace. Through the connection with the cranial nerves, a virtual screen could be directly projected onto the retina. It could then be directly manipulated through thought. This ensures the security of private information to the greatest extent. It was also the most convenient and safest choice when conducting official affairs.
After watching his target work for a while, a notification bell sounded in his mind. The information from the headquarters, albeit late, had finally arrived.
Lu Deng turned back around. He put down the pen in his hand and checked this world’s main plot line that he had just received.
It was currently the year 4307. Five years ago, Planet Galileo had been invaded by the Guars. Nearly 30% of the planet had became the dependent territory of Planet Guar. Although the two sides have temporarily reached a truce, Guar’s ambitions have yet to be satisfied. Uptil now, they are trying to control Galileo through economic means.
The target of this mission, Gu Yuan, has just turned 30 this year. The Gu Group under his name controls the three mining veins on Galileo and has a net worth of hundreds of millions. His was a leading company on Planet Galileo.
As one of Galileo’ business giants, Gu Yuan and Planet Guar had a lot of business dealings. As a result, the Gu family rose up but he has also became a recognized traitor of the Galileans. There have bee numerous assassination attempts against him but due to Gu Yuan’s constant vigilance, none have succeeded.
According to the current plot line, Gu Yuan will soon sign an order for 200 million tons of radium ore with the Guars.
Radium ore is exclusively produced in Galileo. It is a precious mineral ore used exclusively for high-level mechs that could only be conceivably used in wars of aggression. Gu Yuan’s profiteering behavior quickly aroused public outrage. However, he remained unmoved and insisted on closing the deal, making him the target of public criticism.
During one time when he went out, Gu Yuan encountered a surprise attack and in a moment of inattentiveness, was assassinated.
Not long after, the Guars invaded using their brand-new advanced mechas. However, their mechas turned out to be vulnerable to the Galilean’s counterattack. Within 48 hours, they were easily able to rout the enemy. This battle became the pivotal battle that turned the tide for the Galilieans.
They had won so easily that it was strange. Some people began to suspect there was something off about that deal because of this. However, Gu Yuan was no longer alive, after all, and the Gu Group collapsed after his death. Occasionally, when people talked they would let out a sob and then they would continue their struggle under the leadership of the newly emerged heroic leader.
The real protagonist of this world was the heroic leader who had yet to appear. Gu Yuan was an indispensable part of the resistance’s background, but only for the background. As time went by, even his name was completely silenced in the annals of the galaxy.
Lu Deng was lying on the table, his arms used as a pillow. He poked the workbook lightly with the tip of his pen, thinking about how to start about his task.
There was obviously some defect with the batch of ore Gu Yuan sold to the Guars. This was the key to Galileo’s turn from defeat to victory. Therefore, this deal still had to go through and the defect in the ores needed to be kept secret until the battle.
All he had to do was to ensure that Gu Yuan would survive, survive until they emerge victorious from that battle, until the day when the truth can be known.
The mission was somewhat difficult, and perhaps, if necessary, he would need to take the cannon fodder’s place.
Gu Yuan was still as before, lying back with his eyes closes, seeming to be at rest. Lu Deng turned around, his gaze fell on the man’s sturdy side profile, his eyes revealing vague curiosity.
He now more or less understood the story’s plot, but he still didn’t know why the Main System “logically and rationally” integrated him into this plot with a “kept-man” identity.
His sense of existence has always been very low; add to that the specialized training he had undergone within the system, except for the elders in his family, very few people could sense his existence. Without any worry that he’d be caught by the other party watching, Lu Deng carefully collected the target’s body data. However, he noticed that Gu Yuan’s figure suddenly moved.
Lu Deng raised his head. Gu Yuan had already gotten up and was walking towards him.
He had completed numerous missions without a hitch, but homework was an eternally stubborn problem. Seeing his workbook that had yet to have a single word written on it, Lu Deng instinctively tried to block it with his arm. However, the more he tried to hide it, the more conspicuous it was.
Gu Yuan raised his eyebrows slightly but he intentionally stood still. With one hand on that back of Lu Deng’s chair, he leaned over to look at the tabletop.
The man’s aura was strong and aggressive. With his body bent down, he was so close to the boy’s fair and clear nape, that he could almost feel the slight body heat through his clothes.
Lu Deng was completely focused, focused on obstructing the view of this headache inducing homework. He focused his strength on lying down lower and lower, using his arms to cover it all the more tightly.
Noticing the boy’s movements, Gu Yuan’s lips curved up into a slight smile. He straightened up, and took the suit jacket hanging on the back of the chair.
“Stay here till the evening and then you can leave. The money will be given to you. Just keep what happened here a secret for me. Don’t say anything. Can you do that for me?”
Recently, some people have been keeping a real close eye on him, making it so that he nearly had no absolutely private time. It became very troublesome to handle some covert matters.
At the last party he attended, he heard the people around him chatting about the standard practices when it came to romantic affairs. When he heard about how when “handling matter,” there was always reasons to send away unconcerned parties, he suddenly thought of using this unconventional gambit.
Even if those people kept an eye on him, it was only to monitor who he met with and what he said. If he stayed in the office and deliberately turned on the amsrt computer shielding, it would make it more obvious that he was trying to hide someting and would arouse people’s suspicions. However, if he was in a room with his “kept-man” then it was only logical that would put up numerous shields.
Gu Yuan had never had any interest in matters relating to romance and he had no idea where he would even have to go to find such a person. He simply threw this errand for his secretary to handle. He asked him to find a student with a clean family background and without too many ideas.
Now, it appeared that the secretary had fulfilled this task well.
Looking up into the man’s dark eyes, Lu Deng smoothed out his brows and nodded lightly.
Gu Yuan’s words were brief and explained nothing but it wasn’t difficult to understand. A little guessing was enough to understand the other party’s intentions.
After figuring out that he was just here to provide cover, things became much more relaxed. Lu Deng pushed aside the homework on the desk, planning to find something else to do. However, he found that the man beside him still had no intention of leaving.
Lu Deng blinked.

Lu Deng then…compromised and spread open one of the exercise sheets.
*
The lights in the private room weren’t meant to be used for doing homework, after all, and so they were still a little dim. The boy cast his eyes down and wrote stroke after stroke. The handwriting that emerged from the tip of his pen was neat and tidy. The slightly hazy warm-colored light fell against his eyelashes, unexpectedly revealing a particularly peaceful and gentle atmosphere.
Gu Yuan originally planned on sitting back down on the sofa, but he stopped. He hung his suit between his arms and pressed one hand on the young man’s still thin back.
Lu Deng raised his head. Gu Yuan pressed a little harder against his back and said slowly, “Sit up a bit straighter.”
The warmth of his palm passed through the thin fabric of Lu Deng’s shirt. The strength of it was neither light nor heavy and with it on his back, it was actually meticulously correcting his sitting posture.
A relaxed expression came unbidden on his brows. Lu Deng nodded obediently and sat up straight. Gu Yuan stood to the side and watched for a while. He then returned to the sofa, turned on his computer and continued to be deal with his seemingly endless official duties.
Under the target’s supervision, Lu Deng completed a full set of exercises on his first day on the mission.
Time spent on doing homework always flies by faster than expected. When he closed the last page of the workbook, the sky outside the window was already getting dark.
The dim light penetrates through the window gaps, intertwining with the lights in the room. It added another layer of unprovoked haziness.
Lu Deng’s movements as he put away his homework was very light but as before, the person sharply opened his eyes.
Looking at the young man, standing straight, the sharpness in Gu Yuan’s eyes weakened. Seeing that it was almost time, he unlocked the shield and got up to open the door for him. “Can you go back by yourself?”
Walking constantly on the edge between life and death and dealing with all kinds of enemies and friends, the target’s constant heightened vigilance was of great help for Lu Deng’s mission.
Lu Deng nodded. He walked towards the door, backpack secured on his back. He looked up at the man who was still holding the door for him, thinking about how to unobtrusively make future contact.
Being the subject of that look, Gu Yuan remembered that the agreed upon money had yet to be paid. The secretary wasn’t around. Gu Yuan patted down his pockets but couldn’t find any cash. He simply took out his star card and handed it to Lu Deng. “Take it, I’ll find you in the future, so I will pay for both first.”

In the future, he’ll still have to do homework.
Looking at the star card, which obviously had quite a high credit limit, Lu Deng hesitated. He seriously considered the possibility of contacting the mission target some other way.
Seeing the hesitation in his eyes, a smile flashed across Gu Yuan’s face. He stuffed the card into Lu Deng’s hand. He lightly pressed on the boy’s shoulder, and said in a gentle tone of voice, “Go back and rest early.”
The mission was important. Next time, he had to find a way to ditch the schoolbag before coming over.
Lu Deng blinked, carefully putting the star card away. He raised his head to meet his gaze. “Thank you.”
Although the young man was reticent, his voice was unexpectedly clear and pleasant-sounding. Gu Yuan nodded with a smile. He watched the boy’s figure go through the corridor and turn towards the staircase before once again closing the door.
The sky was already dark, and the residence he was allocated with was still far away.
At the system’s prompting, Lu Deng speeded up his pace a little. He went down a flight of stairs when suddenly several figures obstructed his way.
Lifting the schoolbag higher on his shoulders, Lu Deng stepped to the side to avoid them. He wanted to continue on his way downstairs, but his way was firmly blocked.
He stopped in his steps. The vulgar and ambiguous laughter filled his ears.
Lu Deng stood still and raised his gaze. He looked at these few hooligans in front of him who obviously bore ulterior motives.
The guests on the upper floors were all wealthy and respectable people. The hotel’s security was also very thorough. Gu Yuan had turned on the shields. Those people had no way to find out what he’d done nor could they could blindly rush forwards. Blocking Lu Deng here was to make sure whether Gu Yuan was indeed providing for a kept man or just creating a pretense for some other plan. This was indeed the fastest and most reliable way.
Lu Deng groaned for a moment. He clicked on the system. “Is there any way to make them believe that I’m a kept man?”
There were ways but all these would inevitably lead to the host being bullied. It couldn’t bear to let the host who’d been forced to do homework for an entire day be wronged again. The system hesitates for a moment and finally picked one out. It cautiously replied, “The host can limp a bit when walking…”
Although Le Deng didn’t understand the relationship between the two, since the system had given this as an answer, it must undoubtedly have some basis for it. Although, he didn’t know how suddenly turning lame now would be of any use.
Lu Deng lowered his gaze and was about to take action, but he was stopped by a hand, teasingly reaching out to stroke his waist.
“Aren’t you afraid coming to this place alone? Let us accompany you—”
The other party’s tone was frivolous and ambiguous, obviously harboring malicious intentions. His gaze fell on the hand that stretched forward. A sharpness flashed through Lu Deng’s eyes. He was about to block that hand, but then that hand suddenly trembled. The man who’d been making fun of him also gasped. Holding his hand, he hurriedly took a step back.
Lu Deng turned around and found that Gu Yuan was standing on top of the staircase, a deep and fierce expression on his face. In his hand, he carried a pure black super particle gun. He quickly walked down.
Galileo is already in a state of weakening sovereignty and it isn’t forbidden for private individuals to be armed. In circles with a little status, it was the current custom to collect various precious weapons. Although the super particle gun in Gu Yuan’s hand was rare, it was not very eye-catching.
However, Gu Yuan’s aura at the moment was bitingly cold and extremely oppressive. He held the gun casually in his hand but this unexpectedly brought about instinctive fear. One among them was even more frightened by his aura and instinctively reached for his waist.
Lu Deng was keenly aware of the man’s movements but Lu Deng was too far away from that man and they were separated by a few people. There was no time to go over there and restrain him. Immediately, he twisted around, grabbed Gu Yuan’s arm, and pressed him straight against the wall.
Gu Yuan was caught off guard and subconsciously raised his hand to catch him, putting the cold wall against his back.
The young boy’s tough but pliable and warm body suddenly rushed into his arms. His thin shoulders and neck pressed against his chest, his arms tightly wrapped around his waist. Most of his body was left unreservedly between his arms.
Not only Gu Yuan, even the other people were slightly shocked by the sudden unexpected scene in front of them. Originally, they believed that Gu Yuan was looking for someone to be serve as a pretense, but this scene before them made their beliefs waver.
In the dim stairwell, everyone fell silent.
The author has something to say: Gu Yuan:(〃’▽’〃)
