Chapter 107 - Ball Dance Party Part 5
It was no secret that men in the elite circle kept many women.
The wife was mostly because of political reasons, mainly put on the front in social circles, to accompany the husband in parties and media.
Under the cover of the 'unbreakable bond' of the main couple were countless nameless mistresses kept with or without the wife's knowledge.
Thus the women in such circles would not dare to be possessive.
However, Chen Yi's very possessive statement put everyone to shock.
Especially because the man who she exclusively claimed for herself was also a formidable tycoon. How could a woman with no background restrict a man like him?
After the couple departed, Zhao Lifei stood frozen at her spot for some time. The prideful air she had previously worn had slowly eradicated. Her nose was no longer high. Even her head had lowered considerably.
Zhao Lifei might be desperate but she was not stupid. From the way Li Luxian defended his wife, it was obvious she was more than just a stranger he had married to put an end to the Wang family's persuasions.
The couple relationship was obviously stronger.
While her hands curled up into fists of frustration, Zhao Lifei felt a sudden chill. She raised her head and her eyes caught a figure.
Not far away, a man in a black dress stood with his arms folded. His expressions were impassive. He threw a fleeting glance towards Zhao Lifei before his pair of dark, incisive eyes landed over the couple at the center of the dance floor.
He wore a black mask that added another layer of mystery to his character.
Zhao Lifei felt something was very odd and creepy about that man.
Especially the way he stood still among a crowd that was constantly on move to get close to the dance floor. And the way he fixed his gaze at Li Luxian and his wife...
He gave the feeling of a hawk who had its eyes fixed on its prey.
Zhao Lifei continued to observe the stranger until he straightened himself and finally made his way to the dance floor.
On the dance floor, Li Luxian placed his hand over Chen Yi's slender waist. She placed her hand over his shoulder.
Chen Yi hated how the slightly curled side of his perfect lips was proving to be such a distraction to her. It was unfair for someone to be so handsome.
"You know how to do it?"
Hearing his words, she was about to raise her eyebrow but then she recalled he could not see it anyways because of the mask. Thus, she resorted to a snort to make her obvious. "Better than you."
"I taste bitterness in your tone, Mrs. Li."
"Then, Mr. Li, your taste buds are very perceptive." She smiled.
Li Luxian effortlessly twirled her. Bringing her close, he whispered close to her ear. "What's the matter?"
"Why do you have so many women on your tails? Was Wang Hualing not enough?" Chen Yi sounded aggrieved as Li Luxian pressed her back against his chest, entering into a slow dance.
"Are you referring to Zhao Lifei?" He whispered right beside her ear.
"Who else?" Chen Yi pursed her lips together, knowing that he could not see her face, she did not try to hide her bitterness. "The way she was looking at me as if she wanted to devour me alive. And let's not dwell on the fact that she called your mother-in-law, mother. Is she familiar with your family?"
Amusement sparkled in Li Luxian's eyes. He had not seen this side of his Yi'er. When the issue of Wang Hualing had first come in front, Chen Yi had been passive-aggressive.
However, this time she was active aggressive.
Wasn't this because she was already accepting his place in her heart?
Wasn't it because she already thought he was hers and thus she was not willing to let any other women salivate over him?
"Why are you smiling like this?" Chen Yi pouted angrily. Once the rhythm of the music changed, Li Luxian, once again, twirled her body around, bringing her face to face with him. Only then, she found his goofy smile.
"My guilty pleasure. Seeing you jealous brings me happiness."
Li Luxian's words were very provocative.
Li Luxian had expected her to immediately deny being jealous. However, unexpectedly to him, she firmly said. "So what if I am jealous? I am your wife. I have every right to be." Leaning forward, she whispered. "And I was not bluffing when I had said I am not the type who yields her husband to others."
Chen Yi's words and her confidence continued to bring surprises to Li Luxian. She was definitely different today. He wanted to tell her that there was no other woman who could capture his eye anyway.
But something stopped him.
He was very much enjoying her possessive mode.
Thus, he teased her. "What would you do if some other woman decides to come close to me? What can I do?" He innocently asked referring 'he was so handsome he could not help it.'
"You can choose not to do anything." Chen Yi was not the one who could be ruffled just like that. "And I will find the first man in the sight who shows interest in me and sleep with him." Chen Yi's tone was low but her words were bold. She smirked. "And you still won't be able to do anything."
Chen Yi sucked in a sharp breath when, out of sudden, the hand over her waist tightened its hold, bringing her body even close to the man who held her tightly. But she steadied her accelerated heart rate and looked directly into his eyes.
If he thought he could easily rile her up, she had many more methods to rile him up.
A cold gaze and a heated gaze, both equal in intensity rivaled each other. At that point, nothing else mattered, nothing else existed. Just the two of them with their gazed locked together firmly.
The tension was so strong that if not for them being at a place full of public, they would have already interlocked into a fiery kiss and ended up doing everything that was left undone between them.
The magical spell was broken with a magnetic chuckle from Li Luxian. "Should not have underestimated you." He said before continuing to the next move of the dance that involved exchanging the partners with neighboring couples.
A smile blossomed over Chen Yi's face. However, the second her eyes met the dark, sharp eyes of her new dance partner, that smile froze.
"Yiyi, I could not have expected to find you here."
