Seeing Lucas, Joseph asked casually, “Didn’t you fly to Capital City? Why aren’t you with Yasmeen
now but Facetiming me?”

“Joseph, do you have any channel to get the renal source?"

“Not met. I’m asking about it for Yasmeen.”

Lucas told Joseph what Yasmeen had been hiding from them.

However, Lucas could tell how concerned Joseph was. He asked with a smile, “What do you suggest
then, Joseph?”

“Let’s make time to get a sample from her. I’ll go check the renal sources in the black market. If there’s
any suitable one, I’ll operate on her as soon as possible. According to the situation you described just
now, I’m afraid she has a rejection reaction. I need to check her up carefully before doing the
operation.”

Joseph’s words made Lucas frown.

“She doesn’t know I’ve known she donated her kidney to me. I’ve never told her. Probably she’s afraid
I’ll only appreciate her kindness. She always considers love quite pure and saint. Hence, I always
pretend not to know it. If I told her the truth, I’m afraid she would split hairs.”

Lucas truly knew Yasmeen well.

Joseph rolled his eyes again while listening to him. He could be so relaxed only when with his younger
brother.

“What do you want me to do then? I can’t do an operation with the patient’s sample.”

Lucas suddenly smiled and said, “Joseph, why don’t you come to Capital City?”

“Dream on!” Joseph said.

However, he had already started checking his schedule subconsciously.

“How about tomorrow afternoon?”

Joseph double-checked and found that he was free the following afternoon only.



Of course, he wished that Joseph could come over as soon as possible. Upon hearing his answer,
Lucas immediately answered, “Of course. Could you take along Kylie please?”

“Why? Do you have a crush on Kylie?”

Joseph’s questions made Lucas speechless.

“Joseph, I don’t have a crush on Kylie, and I dare not. Please rest assured. I want you to take her with
you because she’s Yasmeen’s bestie. She is the only one who can put the tranquilizer in Yasmeen’s
glass secretly. Besides, she graduated from medical school. It’s more convenient if she is here.”

Joseph understood what Lucas meant -- his last line was his point.

Lucas didn’t think it was convenient to let him check up on Yasmeen and do the operation for her.

“Why don’t you find a female doctor to do it? I’m not so convenient.”

“Oh, come on, Joseph.”

Lucas was frustrated.

Joseph sneered and said directly, “I’m quite busy now. I’ll call you back later.”

“Okay.”

After hanging up the phone, Lucas took a deep breath.

As long as Joseph would help him, the renal source shouldn’t be a problem. Hence, all he needed to
pay attention to was Yasmeen.

Lucas felt extremely upset that none of her family knew it when Yasmeen donated her kidney to him.

people in the family.

should know the truth.

While Lucas was lost in thought, Yasmeen had finished talking to the doctor. When she looked back,
she didn’t see Lucas. She was a bit taken aback.

“Where is Lucas?” she asked Edison.

Edison had no idea either. For a moment, Yasmeen panicked.

She trotted out of the ward, only to find that Lucas was smoking at the corner of the corridor. She was
startled.

She knew Lucas smoked. Due to the military's pressure, Lucas couldn’t use the morphine once he was
seriously injured, so he could only use the nicotine to kill his pain.

That was the first time he learned to smoke. He coughed too much that his tears dropped. However, he
had to keep smoking as if that was the only way to release his pain.

However, Lucas seldom smoked after that time. When seeing him smoking now, Yasmeen
subconsciously thought that Michele’s matter was bothering him.

Although he had rejected Michele’s love ruthlessly, Yasmeen knew Michele was still important to him.

Yasmeen walked over slowly, grabbed the cigarette from Lucas’s hand, and put it out by pressing it on
the window shield.



“You’re not allowed to smoke in the hospital. Can’t you see the instruction?”

Since Yasmeen had come out of the ward, Lucas knew his cigarette smell might stimulate her sense of
smell. Hence, he stopped smoking.

“I’m going to take a shower to wash away the cigarette smell.”

Upon hearing it, Yasmeen whispered, “Michele isn’t allergic to the smell. You don’t need to.”

Lucas was a bit taken aback. Looking at the uneasiness in Yasmeen’s eyes, he suddenly asked, “Do
you think I smoke because of Michele?”

don’t need to be so careful.”

Yasmeen didn’t know what had happened. She didn’t intend to argue with Lucas, but at this moment,

Yasmeen, he looked anxious.

“Boss, Yasmeen, Michele’s condition is getting worse.”
