Chapter 498 - 498: Isn't That A Girl
"I'm late, I didn't disturb you guys, did I?"
Yan Jinyi sat down beside Tan Sangsang and picked up the menu to start ordering some dishes, completely ignoring the man seated across from them.
Yan Jinyi was an actress after all. Besides, she had been living with the Huo Family for a long time now, so her noble aura and pretty face definitely wouldn't go unnoticed.
Tan Sangsang considerately asked Yan Jinyi to sit inside, lest she gets recognized by her fans. "No, you're not disturbing us at all. Jinyi, his name is Wang Heng."
Only then did Yan Jinyi nod at Wang Heng and acknowledged his presence. "Hello."
Wang Heng coughed and stretched out his somewhat chubby hand before saying, "Hey babe, I'm Wang Heng, the current financial manager of the headquarters of the Bai Corporation. You should have heard about the Bai Corporation, right? It belongs to the Bai family, which is one of the few top richest families in the city."
'So what if you're the financial manager? Do you think you're a big deal? I'm the wife of the CEO of Huo Group!'
Yan Jinyi did not shake hands with Wang Heng. Instead, she picked up some fruit and began eating it. "You must be Sangsang's date for today, huh? What do you think of Sangsang?"
Wang Heng looked at his hand, which had stiffened in midair. He then turned to look at Yan Jinyi again, thinking that she was just trying to play hard to get.
'I'm well-educated, have a good job, and the perfect man that many parents want their daughters to marry! Beautiful women these days tend to be more materialistic and many of them are gold-diggers. I doubt this woman is an exception.'
"Yes, I'm Miss Tan's blind date. Miss Tan, how much do you make a month?" Wang Heng asked with both hands on the table, staring at Tan Sangsang seriously.
Tan Sangsang asked with a frown, "Does it really matter?"
"Of course it does. The income of a couple determines the future financial expenses and budget of the family. I hope that my wife can have some savings so that in the future, she can remain self-sufficient as a housewife and won't keep taking money from me."
'Is this man a weirdo? He's already thinking about marriage when he barely knows Sangsang yet?'
Yan Jinyi frowned without saying anything as she merely turned to the side to look at Tan Sangsang.
Tan Sangsang was clearly displeased and she said in a cold voice, "About four to five grand."
"What? Only four to five grand?" Wang Heng was shocked. "We're living in a day and age where living expenses are high, what can you do with such a meager salary? You earn way lesser than I do, doesn't that mean that I'll have to provide for you in the future?"
"Mr. Wang, first of all, we are just on a simple blind date now and we haven't even decided to be in an exclusive relationship with each other. Why are you talking about the future? Secondly, I have always been self-sufficient and independent. I will never take money from a man."
Wang Heng ignored the first half of her sentence and said, "Okay then, my money is not meant for providing for women."
Yan Jinyi, who was at the side, couldn't help but roll her eyes as she was filled with disgust towards him.
"But Miss Tan, don't you work at a newspaper and magazine publishing house? You're an experienced senior journalist after all, why is your salary so low?"
Tan Sangsang had actually given him a number that was lower than her actual wage, just for the sake of angering him.
"Technology has become very advanced these days, most people prefer reading digital news to newspapers. It's good enough that I didn't have to take a pay cut."
Wang Heng turned to look at Yan Jinyi again and asked, "Miss Yan, how much do you make a month?"
"Me?" Yan Jinyi sneered. "I'm sorry, I don't draw a monthly salary."
Well, she gets paid in a lump sum for every film or drama she stars in, as well as other endorsement deals and so on.
'She's not making any money? Does that mean she's a kept woman?'
Wang Heng was suddenly lost interest in Yan Jinyi.
He thought that she was a rich heiress.
In comparison, he felt that Tan Sangsang was a better choice. After all, she was a reporter of an established national news publisher who would bring him some glory.
"Miss Tan, I think you're quite a good girl. I currently own two apartments and a car. I'm 31 years old this year and divorced. All I expect from my future wife is to be a considerate, meticulous, virtuous, and dutiful housewife who will stay at home to take care of my children."
