Bai Yang thought back on the plot; the four of them met a fierce demonic beast. Miss Li thought she was skilled in spite of her lack of experience, so she provoked the demonic beast and ended up injured. The Male Lead rushed to save her, but was also wounded. The remaining two disciples came to their aid, but when they still couldn’t beat the monster, all four of them fled in a panic.
The Male Lead ended up wounded in the scuffle, but no one cared to worry about him. Although Miss Li always said she was fond of him, she was actually selfish and only cared about herself.
“Why didn’t you protect Miss Li?” After finding somewhere safe, the other disciples came to pick a fight with the Male Lead. Those two disciples always followed Miss Li because they admired her. Miss Li’s favor toward the protagonist meant the two disciples were already unhappy with him. With Miss Li injured, the two would naturally take this opportunity to step on the Male Lead.
The whole situation was hilarious. It was Miss Li who provoked the demon beast in the first place, thus getting hurt. The Male Lead protected her and ended up injured himself, and then they blamed the Male Lead for his failure.
While it was the truth, the Male Lead couldn’t refute them. If he did, it would be like he was pushing the blame onto Miss Li. As Miss Li’s servant, he could only apologise: “I’m sorry.”
Miss Li bit her lip and reached out to take his arm, but the Male Lead dodged her.
“Were you hurt?” Miss Li asked.
“Thank you, Miss Li, for your concern. It just broke the skin.” The Male Lead politely said.
The other disciples saw Miss Li’s concern for the Male Lead, and their hearts soured, their faces showing this dissatisfaction.
“A servant is only a servant, huh? Useless.”
The Male Lead didn’t say a word. Despite remaining expressionless, Bai Yang, as someone who read the book, knew that the Male Lead was furious at heart. He was inherently an extremely proud person. He currently had no strength, so he could only bear with it. Once he was stronger, he wouldn’t need to just take it anymore.
Bai Yang emerged from his magic space and found that two thirds of mirage participants were already dead. Several black cloaked people headed over there. Wherever they went, not even plants would survive. They had to kill everyone. They massacred anyone in their path, and they’d already breezed through much of the jungle.
The four people were still arguing over who was right or wrong. The disciples wanted the Male Lead to leave. From their point of view, the Male Lead was only a lowly servant with little martial prowess. At most, he would be dead weight. However, Miss Li disapproved of getting rid of him, so the group began to fight. They were oblivious of the impending danger that drew near.
In the original text, the Male Lead didn’t die. However, if things continue as they are, he might be found by those black cloaked people, and he definitely wouldn’t be able to escape.
There seemed to be a contradiction. According to logic, the Male Lead might die, but the Male Lead definitely didn’t die in the novel. Then, how did he escape?
In the mind, he made Xiao Ling bring up the original text. “Xiao Ling, can you check on how the Male Lead escaped?”
“Of course, Sir.”
After a short while, Xiao Ling said, “ Sir, when the black cloaked people caught up to the Male Lead, the demonic beast caught up and intercepted the villains, thus allowing the Male Lead to escape.”
The demonic beast?
Bai Yang expanded his magic senses and found the beast pacing just outside the forest, moving farther away. The black cloaked people were already in the forest. In a hurry, Bai Yang lifted his hand; magic gathered at this fingertips and was released it towards the demonic beast.
The magic was chaotic and, like a sword, stabbed into the back of the monster.
Injured, the demonic beast spun and rushed into the forest.
“Wait, does something feel strange to you?” The Male Lead was alert, and when he felt something was off, he interrupted the argument.
“What feels strange?” Miss Li asked.
The Male Lead listened carefully and his expression suddenly changed. “I think someone is here.”
The disciples listened for a short moment and said, “We don’t hear anything.”
The Male Lead said: “I really heard something. We need to leave.”
The two disciples began to mockingly sneer at him, “What are you even talking about? We didn’t hear anything! It’s funny! Your skill level is so low, and you think your hearing is better than ours?”
As soon as they said that, three men in black cloaks appeared. They saw the Male Lead and attacked faster than lightning. Say kill, and they would massacre.
The mocking disciples bolted away.
Miss Li gave a blood-curdling scream.
The three men killed the disciples and advanced. They were much more skilled fighters than the Male Lead and Miss Li. The Male Lead barely had his sword in hand to defend himself before he was beat up until he was vomiting blood.
“Zhou Ying!” Miss Li could keep a level head in a critical situation, and she rushed out to protect the Male Lead.
The Male Lead’s eyes widened. He didn’t expect that Miss Li would protect him even in the face of death.
Miss Li was stabbed in the back. The Male Lead screamed and hugged Miss Li’s body. “Miss, Miss, are you okay?”
“Hurry… Get out of here…!” Miss Li spoke weakly, her mouth full of blood.
In the original text, the Male Lead was stunned. There already was a place in his heart for Miss Li. Of course, Cannon Fodder is Cannon Fodder. Who cares who they were important to when they’re already dead.
The three black cloaked men didn’t care about them and even less about their love life. They raised their swords again and advanced.
The Male Lead was in shock and despair over Miss Li’s death, and couldn’t react fast enough to block the attack
Seeing that the Male Lead was about to die under the blade of a person in a black cloak, Bai Yang became anxious and intervened; a leaf flew over and deflected the sword.
“Who?”
The black cloaked person looked around, alert.
At that moment, a loud banging noise could be heard from afar. A moment later, a rhinoceros-like demonic beast rushed in. All the trees toppled over wherever it went. The black cloaked man was caught by surprise, and was sent flying.
The Male Lead and Miss Li finally finished their last interaction. For example, they’d ask a final question: “Have you ever loved me?” “Miss…” “Humor me, will you? Please.” “I have. I’ve always loved you, Miss. It’s only because of my low status that I didn’t dare confess to you.” “You must continue to live on.” and so on and so forth.
After they finished talking, it was as if the Male Lead had been revived, and Miss Li was no longer breathing. The Male Lead forced himself to stand and stumbled deeper into the forest.
The three men were blocked by the demonic beast and couldn’t chase after him. The Male Lead fled in a panic and, at that moment, Miss Li’s words became his reason to continue living.
“I must live on!” He yelled as he ran, becoming out of breath.
When Bai Yang, who had been following silently behind him, heard these words, he couldn’t help but think: Brother, if you keep running away like this you may not be able to continue on living.
Bai Yang reached out with his magic and found that most of the people in the mirage had been killed. What was more alarming was that Lou Jian Feng had appeared.
It looks like he wants to finish the rest himself.
While the three people in black cloaks might not be able to kill the Male Lead, if Luo Jian Feng fought him personally, that would be a different story. Luo Jian Feng was one of the Four Demon Generals. He was full of tricks, extremely clever and, most importantly, had strong martial skills.
Those who had strong martial skills had a powerful spiritual pressure. Those with powerful spiritual pressure also have a larger magic area. For example, Xie Ze Tian’s magic could scan the entirety of the Hidden Flower Mirage and feel the whole mirage’s situation. He knew just who was still alive in the Mirage. Luo Jian Feng’s skill set should have been similar to his, and he was likely able to also scan the entirety of the Hidden Flower Mirage. As long as he was scanning the area, it would be impossible for him to miss that the Male Lead was still alive.
Just as Bai Yang expected, after a moment, he could feel Luo Jian Feng rushing to the Male Lead’s position.
By then, the Male Lead had followed the script and ran to the cliff. That cliff would be where he jumped off.
The situation was extremely pressing!
Luo Jian Feng’s was extremely fast and he appeared in front of the Male Lead who couldn’t escape. However, Bai Yang was faster, naturally, seeing as he was closer to the Male Lead. So, when Luo Jiang Feng arrived, Bai Yang was already next to the Male Lead. He raised his foot and kicked him off the cliff.
